Hope you get to writing and commenting; this site is pretty great! If you're interested, maybe you could check out the group list and see if you'd like to join any of them. There are over 800, the last I checked. I'm sure you could find a group for an interest of yours.
Oh, and contests are great opportunities to get points and get really get active on the site. New ones are usually up everyday, and they can last for several weeks, so putting together an entry is a piece of cake. Points allow you to put things like rewards and features on your stories to encourage others to read and comment on them. You could also spend a small amount of points to shamelessly promote your stories. You get points by commenting on other users' stories, and by getting applause from people who read and comment on your own stories. People can just give them to you if they want to, but I don't think many people do that, if any.
I'm not an official greeter, but I thought I'd drop by and leave you a few tips and such, just to make your beginning here on the site a little easier. If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of the greeters, or even myself. You could also take a look around the help section of the site.
