This might not be true for every writer, but alot of you tend to write using alot of SIGHT and very little of the other senses: SOUND, TASTE, TOUCH, SMELL.
Try writing a story using just these four, NO SIGHT! When I did this, it spiced up my writing, and can add a new perspective to a story.
Also, it might work better if you don't do the obvious, (i.e. a dark and dingy dungeon, a forest alive with chirping birds).
