Living The Dream 3

Sam continued to look for Mandi. She was no where to be found. Sam knew she couldn't give up just yet she had to find her and tell her the news. Her excited was building up in her she had to get it out. She searched quickly amongst the people. Then she finally saw Mandi's blond hair pulled back and oh those overalls. She headed towards her when this Kenny Chesney looking wannabe came up behind Mandi and put his arms around her. Sam's heart just broke in two. How could Mandi do this to her? Instead of turning to leave like she thought she was going to do she headed straight up to Mandi. Before Mandi could see her she walked over to Bubba asking if she could sing one song. Bubba patted his round belly and said.1

"I don't think it would hurt any. What song do ya plan on ya singing?"2

"My Broken Heart by Tonya Jones. Actually speaking of Tonya she is in the building tonight."3

"Well how about you guys do a duet."4

"Ah no Bubba. I got to do this one on my own tonight."5

Sam tilted her hat down and climbed up onto the stage. Her heart pounded. It was time for Mandi to hear what she had to say.6

The music began to play. Sam remained silent then finally her angelic voice came through the microphone and out through the speakers. Mandi looked up and saw Sam. Suddenly as if on cue the music stopped and Sam looked dead into Mandi's eyes. Then she continued on without the music.7

"When I saw you with that other man....My heart just broke in two...Now here I am singing about my Broken Heart and everything you put me through..."8

Tonya Jones appeared beside her resting a hand on her shoulder. 9

"Let's get out of here. Forget that broken heart of yours and well go do some dancing."10

Sam dropped the microphone and walked down the stairs with Tonya right by her. Mandi came running over to her. Throwing her arms around Sam. Sam shrugged her off and continued on through the crowd.11

"Sam what are you doing?"12

"Mending my broken heart."13

"What do you mean?"14

"Ya know damn well what I mean."15

"What Steven? Ah he's nothing."16

"Oh yea really nothing when he put his arms around ya like that. Well kiss my ass goodbye this is the last ya will see of it. When I am famous look for a song to come out called You Hurt Me For The Last Time."17

"Oh you got the gig then."18

"Damn right I did. So goodbye."19

Sam turned on her heels and walked out. Mandi just stood there mouth opened. Sam felt so good. Finally being able to walk away from Mandi after four long years of lies and deciet.20

Walking out to the parking lot Sam finally broke down. Tears just streamed down her face. She loved Mandi but how could she have done that to her. Tonya reached around and pulled Sam close to her. Just holding her tightly as the sobs kept going and soak the t-shirt she had on.21

Tonya pulled Sam's hat off.22

"Hey babe look at me."23

Sam's green eyes looked into this gorgeous woman eyes who barely knew her.24

"Life is full of choices that we make. Sometime for the best. Sometime for the worse. We all make decisions that will change our lives. I don't know what to tell ya about what she did to you but I can give you a lesson or two out of this. Never be afraid to give away your heart again. It may be broken and it will take time to heal but remember you'll find someone. Hell they might be closer then you think."25

Tonya winked at Sam and hopped into the Hummer. Sam stood for a moment. What did that all mean? 26

"Are you coming are what?"27

"Yeah."28

Sam quickly got into the Hummer trying to ponder what Tonya all had said. What did this all mean? Was she somehow hitting on me? Not knowing for sure Sam got in and stared out the window. 29

Where was she going with this woman? This woman was her idol. Someone she looked up too. She was soon to follow in her footsteps. Her insides began to shaking butterflies were forming in her stomach. What did it all mean?30

They drove back to Rainbow so Sam could get her car. Tonya pulled up along side it. The Hummer idled. Sam didn't want to get out but she knew she had to. Her hand remained on the door until she managed to find the courage to open it. After she did she still remained there. Tonya just stared out the front. Sam looked back at her.32

"Thanks Tonya. It means a lot to me. I really appreciate it."34

"Your welcome. Hey when are you fear again? There's a place where I would like to take ya."36

"Well I have an appointment tomorrow with Ms. Banks. Then after that I will be free."38

"Alright. Hey how about ya give me a call when your done and I will come and get you?"40

"Sure that sounds great. I really would love to."42

Next thing Sam new her lips were pressed against Tonya's cheek. Pulling away Sam flustered a bright red. Her she was putting the moves on her idol. She couldn't believe she has done it. She quickly got out of the car. 44

The driver's door slammed shut just about the same time her's did. Next thing she knew she was pressed against her own car. Looking into the eyes of Tonya.46

"What were you thinking?"48

"Ah I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I don't know what I was thinking."50

"No it's fine. Why the cheek?"52

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to. Can you forgive me?"54

"I never said that you have to say sorry. I mean well I kind of am hiding something from you and well all my fans."56

"Ummm...Well hey I'm running late I got to go. I will talk to you tomorrow."60

Before Sam could finished Tonya got into her Hummer and pulled out of the parking lot quickly. The rubber peeled and burned. Sam got into her car. It took a while for her actually to head home. Her she was thinking about Tonya. What Mandi did didn't matter. Her heart was fixed on something out. Finding out the secret that Tonya Jones is hiding from the world.64

Silently Sam headed home to get rest up for tomorrow. She had a lot ahead of her. She had to sign the papers and hang out with Tonya. She had so many questions to ask.65

The ride home was quiet. She pulled into the driveway and headed in. Her mom was in the kitchen cleaning off the table. Steven was asleep on the couch. 67

"Hey baby. How did it go?''69

"It went great. I got seen by the talent scout. Well I have to sign papers with her tomorrow around three. Then I will be hanging out with Tonya Jones. Mandi broke up with me. Well actually no I caught her cheating on me with a Kenny Chesney wannabe."71

"Aww baby I am sorry to hear about Mandi. But I am so glad you got noticed. You meant the Tonya Jones singer of My Broken Heart."73

"Yes mom I did and it was awesome."75

"That's good dear. You better get to bed. So you can rest up for tomorrow. You have a long day ahead of you. Good night baby."77

"Can you take Steven up to his room?"81

Sam walked over and picked up Steven. His small body laid perfectly in her arms. It was like he was her own son. She kissed his forehead and headed on up the stairs.85

She put him in his race car bed. Tucked him in. Kissed his forehead again and headed back down stairs. Her bedroom was in the basement. She loved it because it was huge and she had her own privacy. Her own bathroom even down there. She hugged her mom good night and went down.87

She got into bed and laid there. She couldn't sleep. She was still thinking about Tonya Jones. What were they going to do? Her eyes began to close but she would open them. Suddenly as if it appeared before her eyes a song formed. She grabbed her paper and pen and wrote it down.89

She placed the finished work along side her bed and soon her eyes closed. She was sound asleep. Only listening to the faint sound of music in the background. She dream pleasantly of what was to come tomorrow.91
