Another night, i sat in the chair outside of my cabin in the woods. The fire in front of my eyes grew dim. The wind howled and the animals slept. Around my camp was nearly lifeless, or seeming so. The darkness was nearly impossible to see through, if it hadn't been for my left eye that i was colored blind in. At times my imagination would capture my mind and drift me into a dream. I tried staying awake, waiting for the arrival of the others. But no one came that night. When morning came i was still awake. I stood up and walked into the cabin and sunk onto the wooden cot in near the wall. I quickly fell asleep and entered the world of dreams. Sleeping through day, waiting in the night. Soon i awoke and readied myself with my equipment, my sword, daggers, silk vest, pants, boots, and gloves. The necklace i wore around my neck was a gift from my father, a man who had died years ago. There was no mystery to his death, I had killed him for my own reasons. I stepped outside as i grabbed a piece of bread from the basket near the door. I sat in the chair near the fire pit and scuffed rocks together to start the fire up. Flames went up in the pit quickly and forced me to the back of my chair, my long brown hair flung in the air and hit the back of my head. I ate the bread and waited for the others again. That night, no one came... The sun rose and i went back inside the cabin. I fell asleep slower that night, it seemed different, but i ignored the changes. Later that night, i was rudely awoken by the sound of something brushing up against the side of my cabin. I stood up alarmed. I began to back up and head for the table to grab my sword and armor. Accidentally, my foot clashed against a pot that had been laying on the ground near the table. Suddenly the noise stopped and the outsides became silent. I looked around, holding my breath and my feet from making noise. My hands firmly gripped the sword within my hands. Suddenly something in the corner of my eye caught my attention. I quickly looked to the window near the cot. Dark figures moved passed the window. With my left eye, being color blind, i managed to make out the figure, it wasn't human... Something that walks on legs and isn't human? It has to be at least 6 feet in the air to read the window. I heard foot steps at the front door and quickly looked at the door. Just then the window shattered and something cried out. The sound was terrifying and would make any man tremble. My mouth opened as i was in awe. Suddenly the noise stopped and no more then a second later there was a knock on the door. I gripped my sword and began to walk towards the door. What could it be? I prepared my self, reaching one hand for the door and holding the sword with the other. I twisted the handle and slowly pulled it open...1
