Crystal, the Water wielder I suppose, walked over to him and Mary and kneeled down beside them. She turned to look at the rest of us as she spoke.
"One of the attributes of the Water Blade is the ability to heal. Its an ancient technique that runs in our blood which enables us to heal physical wounds on ourselves, as well as others." She gave a look to Mary, who seemed to be gathering all the information well. I watched as she placed her hands over Carlos cut, and closed her eyes. She began to frown, concentrating I suppose, when a bright blue light emitted from her hands and highlighted the cut. It was big at first, but it slowly began to grow smaller and smaller until it was gone. She opened her eyes to see what she had done, and her mouth dropped. So did everyone else's.
Valerie began another impatient question. "What can the Earth Blade do?"
Jason walked towards her and placed his arm around her shoulder. "Well, it would seem that you are the only female Earth Guardian here. Well, gather around the rest of you, and I will show you." I watched as Logan and Samuel walked towards Jason and Valerie as he led them to a corner in the room.
"Come on Flame Guardians, let me show you what REAL power is." Delilah gave a wink to Jason as she grabbed Alex by the arm and lead him to another corner, Adrian, Ariel, and Esmeralda following close behind. Terry and Xavier began to make their way over towards Crystal, leaving Fernando and me alone in the center.
He looked around for a while until he finally spoke. "So, you're the Air Guardian?" He looked me up and down. "A bit, smaller than I expected."
"Hey, who are you calling small?" My short temper was acting up again, and I wasn't liking this guy's attitude.
"Well, what I meant was, that you are supposed to be the strongest of the group. But..." He frowned his brow a bit then sighed. "I guess I can work with you... so what's your name?"
Strongest? I like the sound of that. "Carmen..." I gave him a death stare, my signature stare. Whenever I really needed to send a message to someone, I gave them my death glare. Anyone who was smart enough knew to just leave me be. He glared back at me, cool and calm, and waved his hand. A rush of air came from him and drove me backwards.
"What the hell?" I looked at him, surprised, yet pulling all the information together. Air guardian. Control of the air. Wind. Flight. Life. This is what I controlled. It was his, and it was mine, and no one could compare to that. I took a step forward, feeling a bit more confident now, and focused on my hand. I could feel that tingling sensation flow through it again, and with a wave, I sent a rush of air his way, driving him back a few steps.
/You catch on quick./ I saw him smile. Maybe this would be fun after all.
/Yeah.../ I replied. /But are you quicker?/ I gave a smirk and sent another wave at him. This time though, he simply moved it out the way and raised his hand. I looked hard, and through instinct, blinked my eyes. Suddenly, I could see the air in his hand. I could see this, white energy flow through him and focus itself in his palm. Then like a karate chop, he brought it down, sending a blade of air my way. I leaped to the side, but to my amazement, I didn't touch the ground. I was, well... I was... floating, levitating, above the ground. I gave a laugh. It felt good. I motioned myself higher, and higher, till I was five feet above him. I laughed again. I had this feeling in my gut that sent shivers down my spine. It was as if I belonged here, up here above the world. I moved my body left and right, embracing this new gift.
I looked down to see everyone looking up at me. From up here I could see what they were doing. The 'Red Coats', had started a fire in the middle of them and they had been trying to put their hands inside of it... I guess to see if it would burn. The "Blue Jackets" (I'm so clever) were leaning over something before their concentration broke from looking up at me. I looked over to the 'Other Sweaters' to see that they had a big whole in the ground, Logan standing inside of it. Oh, maybe they were digging to China! Ha! Good luck losers, because I can FLY there! YES!
I laughed again as Fernando had begin to move his way through the air and towards me. I had almost forgotten why I was up here in the first place, and when I remembered, I ran... ok, I flew, away. I looked back to see him gaining on me. Wow, he sure did pick a good place to fly... I turned left and around in a circle, catching a glimpse of him gaining on my tail. The look on his face suggested he was taking it easy. Maybe its time to just follow my instinct and wipe that smile off his face...
I flew down and into a dive, pulling myself up just inches from the ground. I looked back to see him flying to my left. Man, he was good. /He's a lot faster you know./ I looked down at the others, trying to figure out who spoke to me...
/Who said that?/
/It's me, Adrian.../
I listened closer and recognized the voice as hers.
/Nah duh, you think?/
I stopped as I reached a corner in the room and turned around. He was gone!
"Where'd he go?!" I turned my head left and right, but I couldn't find him. Then I heard something... it was a crunching sound... like rocks. I looked over to Logan's hole in the earth and listened. It was as if a mouse was scratching in a corner, but I couldn't see anything. Logan looked at me, and then began to move around. My body was beginning to tense. Something new was happening to it, and I didn't know what it was. I landed softly on the ground, still staring at the hole. As I walked over, people generously moved out of my way. My shoulder twitched as I neared the whole. Everyone had moved now except for Logan, who was still centered in the hole. It was only about three feet deep, but still a hole. I reached the edge and stopped. My mind was totally shut down now. Now matter what I did, I could not stop starting, stop concentrating on the hole, on the ground... right next to Logan's foot. Logan was standing still, too afraid to move. I moved my gaze from the ground and to his eyes. He stared at me, but he didn't blink. I heard him breath... but his chest didn't move...
Instinctively, I lifted my hand up over my head, and slammed it onto the ground. A huge blade of wind went forward and hit right next to Logan. A gasp came as Fernando's figure appeared; sword pulled out and pressed slightly against Logan's side. He let him go as he clutched his stomach and moved out of the hole. Apparently, I had hit him pretty good. And then, he laughed.
"Hahaha... very good! Who would have known your animal instincts would have kicked in so quickly! Xavier, I like this one."
I took a step back as Logan helped himself out of the hole and stood next to Jason, who by the look on his face, seemed to be impressed as well.
"Animal instincts? What are you going on about now?" I placed the tip of my sword on the ground, using it to keep my balanced as I gave a confused look at Fernando who had a simple look of glee on his face... it was getting annoying...
