Hollow

I feel so hollow inside. I feel like my heart is missing, like you ripped it out and sewed me up, leaving no trace of the stitches or incisions. But I can hear my heart beat, though it still lies in your hand. You thought you felt your hand crushing it, but no, it still beats for you. I can still say that I love you, after all that has happened between us.

I believe I went to bed on top of the world. But today, the world has decided it did not like my position. It has rolled over and I am beneath it. I need you to be here, to make me smile, if you can. Return me to my spirits of yesterday. I need to know that you still love me.
