Lover's Prelude Chapter 20

It was a rainy and bleak day  on Saturday ' Pefrect dress shopping weather.'  Dianna thought as she got up, showered and statrted to get ready for the  long 3  hour  visit to mall ahead of her.      After showering  she went down to the  kitchen for  breakfast   "Good Morning Mom." She said as she planted a kiss on her mom's cheek. "Morning sweetie, what are you plans   today?"    "Going to the mall with Abby and  Kelly to do some shopping for a dress."   "What's the occasion  for the  dress?" her mom asked  raising a quzzical eyebrow.  "Prom,  i got asked to the junior prom  by Jimmy Richards, the guy who  I went to the movies  with last weekend. Her mother's eyebrow raised up even more critcal eyebrow.  "When did all the this happen?"   she asked.   Dianna noticed her mom was looking a little uneasy.  "Monday during lunch, he asked me to go to the prom with him b/c  his date ditched  him sort of last minute  I'm soo excited."      "I don't know sweetie, i don't know much about this  Jimmy boy and I don't feel safe letting you go out with someone  I don't know well."  "Oh please  Mom, you have to let me go, I already told him  yes." Dianna pleaded.   "Ok tell me a little bit more about him, does he smoke or drink?"  "No, at least that  I know of.  He's a decent kid mom, realy sweet and caring...please let me go.... i can't back out on him  now."    Mrs. Rivers sighed "Ok, you can go but when  can your father  and I meet this  Jimmy person?"   "Well on prom night which is  two  weeks from today, but if you'd like to meet him sooner  I can talk to him at school on Monday and arrange something."1

Dianna ate her  breakfast and looked at the clock 'Quarter of 10  what can  I do  within the hour and a half before Abby and Kelly get here?' she thought herself  then she realized she had a big math test to study for   a practice test for the final that was coming up the week after prom. "  She opened her precalculus  book and  immeresed herself in a page and half worth of math problems.2

Abby and Kelly  picked her up at exactly 11:30 am and they headed toward the mall.   Once  they parked the first store they checked out was  Payless Shoe Source  to look for any good deals on shoes that Dianna could wear for the prom. When they didn't see anything that interested them there  they went to  JCPenney's to check out the shoe department  after 45 minutes and trying on several pairs of shoes  Dianna  finally settled on a pair  she liked   a  pair of  3 inch heels with  rhinestones on them  "Tres chic."  Abby and Kelly said in unison.  Then they went to the food court for lunch.  After lunch they headed directly to  Macy's to go pick out the most stellar prom dress.    Dianna rummaged through her  purse looking for the  50% coupon that  Jimmy had given her  when she  finally found it   she put it in a place that was easily accessible in her wallet  and went off to search for the most  excellent dress ever. 3

When Dianna had finally settled on a  dress that she liked  she paid for it.  " That comes to "86.75." Dianna pulled out the coupon and slipped it across the counter. The cashier   caculated the 50%, told Dianna the new price and  Dianna handed over her money.     4

Dianna couldn't wait thil the prom  she looking foward to it wih each new day that passed by.5
