Okay, this was really hard to do because I think I started with 28 words and then I had to downsize. Anyway, this is obviously about a little kid in Elementry School or something who gave her crush a valentine made out of pink paper and glue. Awwww, so sweet right?

I think it's a good metaphor, especially if you interpret it in the context that all young hearts are eager to find love and companionship ,or "made out of glue".
It reminds me of myself at that age: young, brash, and hopelessly romantic.
It seems like a comment made in analytical retrospect: I'm not sure if the narrator is expressing regret, or nostalgia.
