SUPERNATUAL NIGHT  SHOUT VAMPIRE

A thick fog had descended on the small town in Shropshire, for days now it has covered the town like a blanket. At first people carried on with their business but the fog has become so think people have decided to stay indoors and wait the fog out
Hadrian Solomon stood within the fog, watching Katie go about her business going back and to, to school. He wondered where the fog had come from because it was no ordinary fog. It was a living breathing thing and was intent on killing those who dared to enter. Hadrian had wanted to rejoin the human world but was he ready to do so he wasn’t sure. This night he had planned to speak with Katie there was something familiar about her. He did however sense that she was in danger from whatever had brought the fog. Katie had already left when he awoke from his dreamless sleep. He was hungry and had to feed. He had intentions of tasting Katie’s blood. This night the fog had become thicker and for humans it was impossible to see.
Vampires on the other hand could see through the fog the night was their friend. Hadrian sensed someone asleep in the doorway of one of the shops. He fed from him making sure he closed the marks where his fangs had pierced the skin and sent him into a deep sleep. Katie worked at one of the pubs helping to serve food. Hadrian walked into the pub sat at one of the tabled in the darkest corner of the pub but where he could watch Katie.
Katie noticed the young man had walked in he had sat in the same place for the past few weeks. She was sure he followed her to work and home after her shift. His honey blond hair seemed to fall in his blue eyes that reminded her of lapis lazuli. She thought him good looking and wished she had the nerve to ask him out. Katie carried on working but every now and again she would search for him in the crowded room just to make sure he was still there.
Hadrian being a vampire heard her thoughts and smiled at himself, tonight is the night he tells her who and what he is. And it will be the beginning of his return to the human world.
It seemed to take forever before her shift was finished,
“Night everyone,” she shouted as she left the pub.
Katie put on her coat, how she hated the fog, it seemed to be alive, and friends had told her people had gone missing. Some had been murdered suffocated by the fog it was said. Katie was scared and here she was walking out in the very same fog. Her heart began to race. Rubbing her arms she walked quickly toward her home. At least she lived only a few streets away she thought. Hadrian sensed her fear; this made the decision to make himself known.
“May I walk you home Katie?”
He said bowing and holding out his hand.
“Um, why yes of course.” Smiling at him and giving her hand to him.
Quietly they walked towards her house. Both were not sure what to say next. It was Katie who broke the silence.
“How did you know my name is Katie?”
“I heard your friends call you by your name.”
“You know my name but I don’t know yours”
Stopping he bowed, “My name is Hadrian Solomon.”
“Very pleased to meet you Hadrian Solomon, she smiled.
They walked on in silence until they reached her house.
“Would you like to come in for a drink Hadrian?”
Hadrian was pleased that she had invited him in vampires had to be invited into a humans home. Homes of other vampires he didn’t need an invitation
“Would you like some coffee or something a little stronger?” As she put the kettle on to boil.
“Coffee will be fine thank you.”
Katie made the coffee and placed the cups on the kitchen table.
Hadrian noticed that it had started to rain quite heavily; he took a sip of his coffee watching Katie the whole time. He had taken all the walls down revealing who and what he truly was. Hadrian saw it on her face first confusion and then fear only to come to the conclusion that she was in very serious danger. She wanted to run he could sense that. But something stopped her from running. Hadrian made a quick scan of the house. What he had failed to notice was the child asleep up stairs and her parents.
Looking around the room he noticed a photograph of Katie and a small child. Probing Katie’s mind he found the answer he was looking for.   The child was her child, her son. Hadrian couldn’t go through with his plan, not now he knew she had a child.
“I have to leave. Thanks for the coffee.”
Hadrian left. He never noticed the dark shadow across the street with the fog so dense but the shadow saw him and the girl. When he totally sure Hadrian had gone the dark one became a dark stain moving through the fog. It entered through a crack in the window upstairs and into Katie’s room where she was sleeping. There he changed back into his human form, Katie opened her eyes to see the most grotesque face she had ever seen, the face of evil coming towards her. She smelt his acid breath felt his teeth sink deep into her throat, the pain was terrible. Katie opened her eyes her neck hurt where as she realised now was a vampire had bitten her. She tried moving but found it difficult to do so. A shadow stood looking out of the window Katie froze thinking it was the vampire. The shadow came into view it was Hadrian she seemed to relax slightly. She tried to talk but her throat felt roar.
“Don’t try to talk Katie. Pete’s alright but.” He trailed off. “I’m sorry Katie but your parents they were killed by the Vampire. I shouldn’t have left you unprotected. I should have scanned the street. I am so very sorry”
Katie felt drained she closed her eyes again and went into a very deep sleep; Hadrian placed the child into a deep sleep he didn’t want either of them to wake until he returned the next morning. For tonight he was going out hunting the dark vampire. Hadrian had the feeling he knew who it could be. There are some vampires who sell their souls to have the alternate power. At this point they lose not just their soul but the ability to feel emotion and see in colour. There is no going back. These are what are called the dark vampires. They no longer remember who they were.
Walking out into the fog Hadrian scanned the street; he scanned the town but found nothing of him. He walked most of the night but found nothing, either he was well hidden or he had left town. Hadrian wasn’t convinced he’d left town it was getting light and soon he would have to get back to Kate and her son Pete. He had removed the bodies of her parents so that no evidence of their murder was in the house. He placed them where they would be found that’s the least he could do for them.
Going back to Katie’s house, he noticed that all the light’s were on, his heart started to race his footsteps quickened and the scanned the street for anything to do with the vampire or his minions. But there was nothing, nothing at all. The only thing he could sense was Katie’s confusion and fear for her son. On entering the house he looked around the Kitchen the boy was in the kitchen Katie was still where he had left her. He walked upstairs two at the time,
“What is the matter Katie? Calm down.”
“Calm down what the hell have you done to me, tell me. And what are you? “He caught her as she lunged at him with a knife.
“Calm down, I have done nothing to you but I am responsible for what has happened. And for that I am so very sorry. Sit down we need to talk.”
Pacing up and down the room rubbing her arms nervously and twirling her dark brown hair through her fingers, her lime green eyes glistened with tears.
“I was attacked in my own room.”
“I know.”
“What was it?” In truth she knew what but her mind couldn’t take it in.
Katie sat down at the table, tears were no falling down her face, and she didn’t care if she was being silly.
“What about Pete, where is he?”
“Up stairs, Kate have you not checked on him?”
Kate felt ashamed in all honesty she had not thought about her son at all. For a five year old he had been very quiet all morning.
Hadrian walked out of the kitchen and up the stairs the whole time he was scanning. All he found was the boy. He knew that something wasn’t right; the boy was far too quiet. Walking into the room he gasped, Pete sat cross legged on the floor staring into space, he was very pale and blood trickled down his neck from two small wounds. Hadrian went over to the boy. The vampire had placed him in a trance the only way to wake him was to find and kill the vampire
Hadrian went back down to Katie who was calmly sitting at the kitchen table trying to drink coffee.
“You may find it difficult to drink or eat Katie but that will pass. Being a vampire doesn’t mean we have to have blood alone. We may eat food and drink; it just won’t do us much good. And before you think you can do without blood sorry to burst your bubble blood is essential to us without it we will die.”
“Where is Pete?”
“Is there someone who will stay with him for awhile?”
“My parents Oh, I forgot, they’re dead. No there is no one.”
“I have a friend who will be willing to look after him.”
“A vampire I resume.”
“Yes he is, but you can trust him. He will take good care of him.”
“Why.”
“The dark vampire has a hold on him; Pete will do whatever the vampire tells him. Katie he’s only five and cannot fight the vampires influence. “
“And prey what will we be doing?”
“Tracking the vampire and destroying it.”
“Want to ask you something.”
“Yes.”
“What about sunlight?”
“You want to know whether the sunlight will kill us. Do you want the sun to kill you?”
“No.”
“That’s good Katie; the sun will burn our skin if we are in direct sunlight and our eyes are not covered. Your eyes will be very sensitive. You are only half vampire for now but soon you will become a full vampire. Being out in the daylight hours will become harder.”
“So it’s true then, vampires cannot be out in daylight.”
“If you put it that way, yes it’s true we cannot go out in full daylight.”
“Hadrian if we are going to catch ourselves a vampire you had better call your friend.”
Hadrian pulled out his mobile and dialled a number Katie heard a man’s voice and Hadrian call him Rider. They talked for awhile suddenly Katie felt strange something wasn’t right. She was giddy and felt sick, her vision blurred when it came back into focus she found herself outside of town. But it wasn’t her; she was looking through someone else’s eyes. Oh my God she thought as she realised whose eyes she was looking through. Katie heard the vampire laugh.
“So you survived my dear. Come to me and we will make this town our own.” Again he laughed.
Katie recoiled back from him feeling sicker than ever, she could feel his evil.
She found herself in Hadrian’s arms,
“Katie talk to me, are you alright come on open your eyes.”
“I’m Ok, I saw through his eyes. Oh my God Hadrian he’s evil and he’s going to kill everyone in town. He wanted me to join him.”
“Katie it’s Ok, this will help us track him faster and be able to kill him quicker.”
“All right for you, you’re not the one who has to feel his evil.”
Hadrian went quiet for a moment choosing his words carefully,
“I know and feel evil Katie, this happens when a dark vampire turns a human into a vampire. It is against our laws to turn a human against their will. This vampire wasn’t made he was born as a vampire.”
“I don’t understand, I thought vampires were made.”
Hadrian laughed,
“Not all vampires are made many of are born vampires up until we get into teens we live the same as human children. When we hit our teens our powers begin to show and our skin and eyes become more sensitive to light.”
“So you were born a vampire?”
“Yes.  And in some rare cases a born vampire is unable to be in daylight at all.                       For me I am a powerful vampire and old for human years young in vampire years.                    I can go out in daylight as long as I stay out of direct sunlight and wear sunglasses that cover my whole eyes. “
“So what about this dark vampire.”
“I really don’t know he’s very powerful he can go around undetected but its daylight he must have found a way to be out in daylight usually the darker the vampire the less he can be out in the daylight hours.”
Hadrian sat down on the chair deep in thought. Katie broke the silence.
“What about your friend Rider, is he a vampire too?”
“No Katie, he’s human and a very good friend. When I have been unable to go out he’s been there to help out.”
“Oh right, so when will he get here?”
Just then there was a knock on the front door.
“That’s him now Katie.”
Hadrian stood up and walked to the front door to let Rider in.
I’m glad to see you’re alright thanks for letting me know where you were.”
“Sorry Rider, meant to let you know but things happened. Come in please.”
They walked through to the kitchen were Katie sat waiting.
“Katie this is my good friend Rider. Rider this is Katie, Pete is her five year old son he’s upstairs and will need to be protected.”
“Right. So what will you are going? Guess you will be going hunting?”
“We are. Katie would be stopping here but it seems there is a very strong telepathic connection and through Katie I will be able to find him. He’s a powerful one an ancient one of the original family members.”
Rider paled, “You are going to kill a member of the original family. Are you sure you want to do this.”
“We don’t have much choice, he has threatened to kill the whole town, and he had chosen to give up his soul.”
Everyone fell silent. Rider went up to Pete who was still sat crossed legged on the floor looking at nothing. Hadrian and Katie went out to find themselves a vampire.
“So how do we find the vampire?”
“I guess the same way you found him before.”
“Hadrian I didn’t, it sort of happened.”
“I guess then I should teach you how to tune into the mind of the vampire.”
“Ok.”
“Close your eyes relax, when you feel peaceful and calm let your mind find the vampire who turned you.”
Closing her eyes breathing deeply and calmly she did as Hadrian said. She allowed her mind to follow the thread of the vampire. Katie s vision blurred and then cleared. She found herself in the foods across town no she thought not her but the vampire. Returning to herself she found herself in Hadrian’s arms.
“What happened?”
“You collapsed. Did you find the vampire?”
“Think so. It looked like he was across town in the woods.”
“You stay here with Rider and Pete. It will be quicker if I go to fight him alone. He may try to hurt your son in some way.
Katie tried protesting but it was no use Hadrian was admits she was going to stay with Pete. She watched astonished as Hadrian changed his form into that of an eagle flew high in the sky. And then he vanished from her sight.
Katie went back into the house she was frustrated that Hadrian had not taken her with him and very guilty because she hadn’t thought about her son Pete. She had only been thinking of herself and for that she was very ashamed.
Rider had come down stairs and into the kitchen.
“Don’t worry, Pete will be alright, Hadrian will kill the dark one and your son Pete will wake up.  Trouble is if the dark vampire isn’t destroyed Pete will waste away.”
He didn’t finish the sentence but Kate under stood. She felt even more ashamed Pete was only l0ittle it was fair on him. What kind of mother was she?
Hadrian flew over the woods circled around for awhile and then he spotted the dark vampire. Headed straight for the middle of the woods where there was a small clearing. Changing back to his human form Hadrian faced the dark vampire one of the originals. Hadrian was shocked,
“My Lord, why,”
The vampire just laughed.
“Killing both humans and vampires is power and with power we can rule the humans make them our slaves or whatever we want.”
“You know that is against our laws, laws you helped create.”
“And one I can break is it not.”
“You have broken one of the laws of the vampire race and now I shall kill you.”
“Not before I command the boy to kill himself.”
The vampire laughed this time he lunged at Hadrian who just stepped aside. The vampire called fire and threw a fire ball at Hadrian who once again stepped to the side. Hadrian threw his own fire ball and ice arrows at the vampire. And in return the vampire threw fire arrows. One burnt right through to the bone of Hadrian’s arm. The vampire caught him off guard and ripped his side with his sharp talons. Hadrian created a ball and arrow of fire threw them straight at the vampire’s heart.  The vampire burst into flames and turned to ash.
Hadrian sent the ash on the wind so there was no evidence he had ever existed.
He transformed back into the eagle to fly back to Katie and her son Pete. Rider was at the front door when Hadrian changed back into his own form. He helped Hadrian into the house. Katie gasped at his wounds.
“You need to go to the hospital.”
Hadrian smiled,
“Hospitals cannot help; I need blood to heal my wounds. Rider will give me blood. How is Pete?”
“He is fine, remembers nothing about the attack I shall go upstairs to him while you do whatever.”
Rider gave him his wrist, Hadrian bit deep and started drinking his blood, and he could feel his wounds mending. He swiped his tongue over the small wounds on Riders wrist. Hadrian stood up and went upstairs to Katie and Pete to say goodbye. As he entered the room Katie looked up at him.
“Thank you.”
Was all she said?
“Katie when I killed the vampire it reversed what he had done to you. I have come to say goodbye. I need to report to the royal family of the vampires what happened.”
“Will you come back?”
She said softly.
“If I’m able to and if you want me to.”
Hadrian turned around and walked back down stairs. Rider was waiting for him by the front door.
“I shall go with you and be witness.”
“No, I wish you to stay here in town. Watch over them from a distance if any other vampire comes to threaten them call me at once.”
“I will Hadrian. Peace be with you my friend.”
Rider watched as Hadrian took the form of an eagle; Hadrian circled the house a couple of times and was gone. Rider walked to his car and drove away. Katie and Pete were left standing by the window in Pete’s room as both Hadrian and Rider left. Now she would have to face the police alone when they call to tell her about her parent’s murder. What was she going to tell them? She and Pete went down stairs, picking up the phone she dialled the number for the police to report her parents missing. Not long afterwards the police called at the house.
They interviewed her and said they will let her know if they find them. Several weeks later her parents were found, they were drained of blood. Now it was a murder case. Katie was left to deal with all this alone.
She was both surprised and glad when she found Hadrian stood on her doorstep. Before she could stop herself she was in his arms and he was kissing her.
“What are the police doing about your parent’s death?”
“They are treating it as a murder case. Why?”
“Come with me, you and Pete, leave this town and come to live with me and my people.”
“I would love to.”
They kissed again Hadrian helped both Katie and Pete pack ready to leave that very night.
