With whom do you have time to spend
Time to wonder why
Time to watch the sky
Watch the clouds go by1
To set aside a moment for a friend
Walking hand in hand
Dreamers on the sand
Nothing to demand2
Heaven help the day I let this world go passing by
Never seeing it
Slip away3
I'd rather live and never try to question why
Than to miss it now
Miss one day4
For I have better things to do than to die
To walk around not living, not alive
To search this world not seeing what I find
Stuck within the limits of one mind
Of one mind5
Now you see me
And I see you
Different worlds unite
In love's lifting light
Quiet dreams appear
In our common bond
Our friendship builds
In the power it yields
In the gentle fields of our love
In the gentle fields of our love6
With whom do you have time to spend
With whom do you have time to spend7

I wrote this song in the late 80's. It is performed by Beverly Houston, not the more famous Beverly Houston. If you'd like to hear it, I'll email an MP3 of it.

Hi Rinzu!
I'm very pleased you like this song. As a song and as a poem it's rather unusual. It's composed of rhyming stanzas, but the stanzas are arranged in pairs that are each different than the other pairs. As a song it is all choruses, it really has no verse.
Thanks for hosting this contest. I hope you won't hold the trophies against me
.

Nice!
hehehe nice andy! are they lyrics to a song then? Kool!

-
-
Yep.
These are lyrics to a song. Beverly Houston performs it for me. It was recorded at Good Vibrations Recording Studio in Dallas. That studio went out of business. The music business is a tough business.
This too is available on mp3.
Thanks for all the applause.

Hi kmp!
Thanks for hosting this contest and for reading and commenting. I appreciate it.
I'm glad you like this poem. While it's true that this is a poem, these are also lyrics to a song I've completed. If you'd like, I can email it to you or if you'd rather, I can upload it online and you can hear it that way.

Hi!
The site where I'd posted this song was acquired by another website and apparently my account did not transfer to the other site. I haven't as yet chosen another site to post audio files, so this song is not currently on the internet. If you'd like to hear it, I can email you an MP3 of it.
Thanks for hosting this contest and for reading and commenting.

I'm going to ignore the fact it's a song - cause I really like it! The words were used very creatively. I'm glad it's not just about love, but friendship. Personally people write too much about love and not enough about friendship (I'm trying not to go into a speech on this lol).
But yes, I did really like it, good work (:

I already loved this, and again, I love this. It's brilliant, the rhythm and beat is just about perfect. The verses are well structured, excellent meter of syllables.
Very professional, I love the emotion - it gives you this warm feeling of security.
Excellent! -
-
Oops
I didn't realize you'd already seen this song. Would you like me to enter a different one? -

Yeah i just read the comments and realised it was by you because I recognise your face picture. Oh well... lol
This was really good. I liked the whole idea of it. The repetition was great... added a bit of character in a way.
Well done, thanks for entering! -

Thanks
These are actually lyrics to a song I wrote. If you'd like to hear it, I can email it to you.

I just read the comments and found out this was by you. Really sorry! Didn't know you wrote songs!
Anyway, you already know I love it heaps, so kudos and good luck! -
-
Thanks Asfand
This is probably the second favorite of the songs I have written. I have written more than a hundred songs. For quite a while I had more songs than anything else. Now I have both more stories and poems. If you were able to hear it, Beverly Houston sings it and Ralph Foster arranged it, but I really did write the lyrics and melody.

Nice Song ...
~*~ I was upon the mantle,
looking down below,
gazing at those scrawled letters,
heart beating in rhythemic wonder,
such splendor, lies in a song?
I like the song alot, really quite beautiful with the repetition really bringing out a sense of beautiful passion. This was quite well done, though, of course this is not original, so that's a disadvantage! Sigh ...
Never the less, I liked this. Wish it was yours ...
-
It was nice, but I did reconize som reppetitive rhymes. Good luck in the contest!

Thanks
This is actually a song. The repetitive rhymes work well with the music, I think. Were you able to hear the song at the link in the author's comments? Thanks for reading and commenting.

This was really sweet, did you make this the authors notes confused me lol.
There were some good lines here, and the repeated ones gave it more depth.
Tnks for the entry and I hope you are doing well
Lady Madeline.

Thanks
Yes, I wrote the song. I wrote both the words and music. Were you able to hear it? Beverly Houston sings it for me. I think she did pretty well. I also have performed it, but my version is not on the net. Thanks for hosting this contest.

Aww, I love this! But, gah, I guess I should've been more specific. *sniff* It's not fair to the contestants who submit their original work, if others win with work that's not theirs, you know? But, as for the idea, and your reason behind. Great!
Because I didn't make it clear, I'll give you some applauds. But I am sorry. *kicks own head*

This is my work!
I wrote this song and had Bevely Houston sing it. I have also performed it, but I, and nobody else, wrote this song! You can't get more original than that.
