The Year 10, 0761
"Today is July 4, 10,076. It is the 8th year since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Later on the show, we'll have Independence Day Trivia for all nine million of you survivors.2
"Remember to stay in today because the acid rain is quite a scorcher and for the 100th consecutive day, we'll be having another Emergency Weather Day. The temperature is supposed to reach 250 degrees Fahrenheit today.3
"This is Andy Lance signing out and wishing you another day of life. Stay tuned to Hot Mix 108.8 for your favorite hits," the disc jockey announced as he backed away from the microphone, switched on the music, and then took off his headphones.4
His brown hair was matted as he made his way to the refrigerator to pull out some bottled water to quench his thirst. Before he took a drink, he had to test the pH. Finding it in the dangerous acetic levels, he angrily threw the bottle in the trash and bellowed, "I can never get any decent water!"5
The Year 30,0006
"Yo folks out there, all ten thousand of you. You best be watching out for that sludge rain by puttin' on your still suits. Don't forget to get those suits checked out for any defects in the air conditioning. You could face becoming a turkey for this Christmas. The temp is s'pose to get up to about 400 degrees, " the disc jockey wheezed through the microphone. "Now, here's Jayna with more news."7
"Thanks Ash. For those crazy cats hopin' to get off this hellhole, it's now possible. N.A.S.A has successfully completed Galaxia, a new home on the moon and no... get this...no sludge rain. Within the next five years, N.A.S.A hopes y'all can board the Shuttle Universe 2 for Galaxia....I tell ya..go...it's free," the red stringy haired girl shouted excitedly to her listeners.8
When she finally signed out for the day, she jumped for joy and sighed, "Finally, we're saved from still suits and sludge rain."9

Universe 2's trip to Galaxia was quite successful. Within two years, 8,000 people had responded. In the first year, we were able to shuttle over half of the responders. The executive board hopes the last 2,000 will have responded within the next three years.11
1 year later12
From Galaxia, we've had an epidemic of people dying. Four thousand had caught some disease we had labeled The Heat Syndrome. We believe this came from their introduction to the pristine environment we keep at 200 degrees Fahrenheit, which is far colder than what they are used to so their brain automatically caused some type of reaction. We also want to note that the children born during this period were immune, so we took it onto ourselves to use the children to vaccinate the rest of the population, hoping that this would help solve some of the problem.13
6 years later14
The epidemic was wiped out but our population dwindles around 6,000. Most unfortunate of all, was a cabal formed against us because they believed we were dictating their lives. Luckily, we were able to arrest the culprits, which was surprisingly only a little over a dozen teenagers. We sentenced them to farming the vegetation groves for twenty years.15
N.A.S.A Files16
Year 60,00017
We had succeeded in the long wait to find extraterrestrial life and of all the places, Mercury! These Mercurians are very much human except for their fascinating physical traits. It seems that they can walk in space and into the sun. They need no flying devices or ultraviolet protection.18
The Mercurians have black skin that shines like an onyx. They also have white hair and yellow eyes that pulsate like the sun.19
We do not know how many of their race exists, but we are determined to find out everything dealing with them, including the most puzzling fact that they can stand the Sun's core of 27,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit.20
Since they can communicate with us, we have acquired a live specimen of theirs in trade for one of ours so that we may learn more about each others race. We would like to believe that we can create a new type of race that can adapt to anything using the combination of several species genetics, first beginning with human and Mercurian.21
Mercurian Files: Research22
Year 1 AOS: Age of the Sunan23
Through studies conducted by us Mercurians, we have been able to assimilate some of our live specimens. Only one have survived this process and we hope there will be more to follow.24
We were able to execute our project by simply injecting our blood into the human. Our blood adapts to most conditions, so it was not rejected in our one survivor. It was a female with no ailments or introduction to vaccinations.25
The results of the assimilation were most interesting and to have more effect, we required that she write down anything she experienced throughout the process.26
In the beginning, when we had received the human specimen, she was 5 foot 5, by human standards. She had light brown hair and gray eyes. She was slightly tan and had a slight muscular build. The end results were: silverish skin, white hair, and black eyes. After further tests, we discovered that she shares the same traits as our ability to walk space and venture into the Sun. The only difference is that she seems more evolved. She is invulnerable to the cold, even more so than we, for we do not dare leave the inner planets.27
She has reported of telekinetic powers and demonstrated telekinesis, which she is having a hard time controlling. At, times, object a swirling violently about the laboratory, so we are unable to conduct any further tests until she can control them.28
We have decided to call her the first of a new race, The Sunan.29
Author notes
This is an intro to a story I have been developing. Extremely futuristic. The Human race is dwindling yet looking to evolve themselves to a race like the Mercurians. It is the Mercurians who relunctantly accept the challenge that the Humans cannot achieve and produce a being beyond both race's wildest dreams.

Thank you. I definitely will start a collection and keep you in mind when I post more on Age of the Sunan. I appreciate you reading it and I definitely feel encouraged. I liked this contest a lot and enjoyed reading a lot of the other submissions...some I have read but not had the time to comment as of yet.
thanks profusely

Now this I liked. Cool concept, and a great way of playing it out. The human race dwindles, but combines with another to create an even greater race. Impervious to heat, and able to handle the lower degrees of cold. Very intriguing concept, and very well put together. I enjoyed this and would love to read more.
