Amanda's picture perfect romance is coming to an end, as she watches Charles drive away. Her shameful face is held in her hands, trembling uncontrollably. She was hoping he'd understand. She never meant to hurt him. Finding herself in denial and desperately alone in total isolation, allowing no one to enter out of fear. Her love is real and is meant to be shared or so she believes.
Charles is the only man she ever trusted, telling him more than he needed to know. "It's not my fault." She thought to herself. "What makes me be this way? How can I make him understand? Why does love get in the way?" 2
"Charles has always treated me kind and was truthful in all his words. He never looked down upon me and was always there. When my mood was down and needed to laugh, he'd tell me a story to make me cry. Whatever I thought I needed, he'd be there to give me the opposite. I asked Charles. What are you doing?" Charles would say,"just loving you Amanda. Your beauty is stuck inside, I'm just pulling it out." "It always worked no matter what. Charles was a master of manipulation changing my mood with his loving tenderness."
Five days have passed since their last conversation as she impatiently
awaits his call. She's called him more than a dozen times. His pride is crushed from the mistrust he had received from her. Amanda confided in Charles of an office affair. Nothing more than A childish crush. The pictures in his mind drew another picture, making him see things that were not there. Unable to speak to Amanda because of the pain she caused. Charles had never given himself to anyone before. Now his thoughts are of anger and disgust, never caring to see Amanda again.
It's been three weeks now since Charles drove away. Amanda is now keeping her room dark to avoid the unpleasant light. She just wants to be left alone. Seldom does she get out of bed. She no longer calls Charles on the phone. Giving up because of being misunderstood, tragically wasting her life. Her office romance was strictly platonic as was her relationship with Charles. Pure in the heart from the very start and remaining that way until the end. As the life slips from her body.
