Kyle2: A night of surprises

Sebastian didn’t care if every one knew his secret, as he quickly transformed to his usual self and looked at Avett and Jon thunderously. Avett had knocked all of the five men down and he was still hitting Manley like a crazy man. Sebastian pulled him away and punched his face. That made him glare up at him kneeling down on the road with the force of the punch. He could see the executioners swarm in around them.

Sebastian felt his power grow in him as the dire situation sharpened his exceptionally trained senses and he threw off a shield as the executioners came into five feet distance of them. Grabbing Avett’s arm and Jon’s he backed off as people started screaming and the executioners looked at them in confusion because they were rebounding off the shield Sebastian had created. Alfyn, their leader had a very pissed off look on his face as he glared at them and said to someone “We have a fugitive plutonian ilumini lose here in Jupiteria. Call in the delta squad.”

Hearing that Sebastian cursed, pushing Avett and Jon in the bolter. Within seconds he had started the bolter and shot up in the air. The executioners followed him on the heels in what appeared like a swarm of bolters. Still mad at the both of them he demanded “What the hell is wrong with you Jon? Were you deaf that you didn’t hear me ask you to stay put in the bolter? And you Avett, damn you. This is all your fault.”

Jon looked up and nervously glanced at the bolters following them and said “I didn’t know executioners were following us. I just saw Manley there and I had to return the stuff he asked me to sell at school. I couldn’t do it. Avett was right. Manley is not a good man.”

Turning around Sebastian asked furiously “Don’t tell me, you were going to sell drugs for Manley. Are you taking drugs too, Jon?”

Jon looked away guiltily “I didn’t sell drugs and I am not taking drugs either, I swear. Manley gave it to me last night and I couldn’t sleep because it was there in my room. I was going to give it back to him after Avett shouted at me and I realized mom would have been ashamed of me if she knew. ”

Aline said now “Manley was going to kill Jon when Avett came and saved him. He really had a big knife, Sebastian. It wasn’t us who started the fight. We should stop and tell the executioners that we didn’t start it so they wouldn’t follow us.”

Sebastian laughed crazily as he felt a sonic blast on the bolter “Yeah right. Ask Avett exactly why we are being followed by the executioners. Good lord, I have the perfectly dysfunctional family, don’t I? One selling drugs and the other raping women. Why don’t we create a fucking mafia of our own?”

Both Jon and Aline looked at Avett with wide eyes and Avett looked up at Sebastian but didn’t say anything. Another blast hit them and Sebastian cursed “That’s the rear of the bolter they had taken off. Avett get the controls.”

Avett looked back at the swarming legion of black executioner bolters and sat in the driving seat looking at the numbers and lights that swam in front of his eyes.

“Damn, you are so useless Avett.” Sebastian said looking at him and biting his neck to take away the alcohol in his system. Glaring up at him from the numbing pain caused by the bite, Avett pulled away from Sebastian’s bite forcefully.

“Can you see the controls better now, Avett?” Sebastian sneered shaking his head.

He could see it better and he nodded grimly as he took the controls and flew in an arc dipping down to avoid another blast. His whole body felt numb from the pain of Sebastian’s bite. His body was now alcohol free but at the price of excruciating pain. Just a slight movement made him wince.

“Avett, take the route to Plutonia.” Sebastian said as he tried shielding the whole bolter with his lumini.

“Plutonia? Why are we going there if I may ask?” Avett asked still dizzy and puzzled about the whole situation.

Sebastian came close to him and grabbed his collar “Listen brother, we are in trouble because of you. You supposedly raped the princess. Tell me what the hell is going on here Avett?”

Avett’s eyes widened “I didn’t rape the princess. At least I didn’t think so. Maybe she thought so.” He said looking lost now.

“Get that expression off your face, Avett. I am sick of you being so stupid. What exactly have you done?” he demanded.

“I married her.” He said looking up at him defiantly.

Sebastian laughed in disbelief and shook his head “I can’t believe you did that. And you had sex with her?”

Avett just looked away. “If they are looking for me why don’t I just hand myself in? That way, I won’t be endangering your lives.”

“No” Aline, Jon and Sebastian said together as soon as he said it.

“You are not going anywhere Avie, its Seb they are following. I heard what the executioner leader was saying. Seb how did you pull that big shield? Why do they think you are ilumini?” Jon asked one question after another.

“Look. Be glad I knew what I am doing or we’d be fire crackers by now.” Sebastian said with a glare. “Who are you to talk anyway Jon? You actually considered selling drugs to your friends.”

“No. I didn’t. How many times do I have to tell you that I would never have sold it and you are saying that to avoid the topic. Are you seriously ilumini?” Jon asked wiping the blood from the fight on his nose with the back of his hand.

“Yes I am. Happy? Now let’s get out of here.” Sebastian said averting his eyes from the stupefied looks on his siblings faces.

“Why did you never tell us? Mom would have been horrified if she knew. What are we? What has happened to our family Av? Why are we running like lowly criminals to Plutonia where a war is going on?” Aline asked looking at all of them incredulously.

Sebastian gave an exhausted sigh “I am really sorry Aline. You don’t deserve any of this but, we don’t have much of a choice now. Avett is hunted down for supposedly raping the princess, I am now officially in the fugitive list and Manley would sure lodge a complaint against Avett and Jon here. We can’t go to any other place that wouldn’t hand us over to the executioners. I know we would have embarrassed mum but it’s all happened now. Only way is to avoid making stupid mistakes like this in the future and for all of your kind information I don’t consider my joining the Plutonian Army a mistake. If not for my training we all would be dead now.”

Sebastian dropped on his knees as the bolter was attacked, one blast after another. Keeping the shield was hurting him physically Avett saw. They were now closer to Plutonia as they were driving at space shuttle speed. Avett watched the stars and comets pass by in a whiz. Up here they looked like big luminous rocks. He should be careful about the black holes but as he looked around, he thought the place looked familiar. He sure had never been there in his life, he thought.

Another blast knocked him off his seat and he looked worried at everyone. Both Jon and Aline’s face were white with fear. Sebastian was still controlling the shield around the bolter and he nodded that he was okay to Avett. Avett looked back again at the dangerous looking area he was in now. One mistake could cause a collision or just disappearance to no where. The bolters behind had also slowed down. Avett speeded up at that moment and Sebastian said “They are slowing Av, we can afford to slow too. I don’t want to die from a collision”

Avett didn’t slow down but sped right into what looked like a black hole. Sebastian gaped as they hurled through black space and Aline and Jon screamed. Suddenly it slowed down and Sebastian shook his head as if in disbelief “Good lord, we are already in Plutonian grounds. How did you know to do that Av? I thought we were goners.”

“I don’t know. It was just instinct I guess.” He said looking at the stars there with surprise.

“Don’t tell me you put all our lives on line based on a mere guess.” Sebastian said still looking a bit dazed.

“Well, we are safe now, aren’t we?” Avett said looking at the familiar looking stars thinking this was just a sense of déjà vu and nothing else.

“We sure are, for the moment at least. I’ll send a distress signal out to the Plutonians. Avett, you might want to get dressed in the stupid astronaut outfit we have in the safety compartment. We will have to get off the bolter to go to the security grounds in Plutonia.” Sebastian said as he went out of the bolter and sent a green blast like fireworks up in the air. He did that three times and then came back inside the bolter. “I hope they come here soon.”

“Why is Avett wearing that funny astronaut outfit, Seb?” Jon asked curiously because zalz’s skin were completely resistant to all temperatures and toxics and he didnt understand why Avett being a zalz needed to wear that.

Sebastian gave a dry look at Avett “Why don’t we come out clean here Avett. We are all in this together now. No more secrets I guess.”

Avett snorted “Talk about secrets. How long have you been training in Plutonia anyway?”

Sebastian retorted “You avoided the question.”

Avett said in a peevish tone “Yeah, right. I am no longer a zalz.” He shrugged at that and Jon and Aline ogled at him.

“But why?” Aline asked looking confused.

“He sacrificed his zalz for a stupid love potion to get the princess Kylie and now, see where that had led him.” Sebastian said with a derision and Avett gave him a dry look.

“Ooh. That’s so romantic” Aline exclaimed looking at him with awe.

Jon rolled his eyes at Aline but asked instead “Was she worth it? Was she good?”

“God save me from my oxymoron siblings” Sebastian muttered as if in prayer.

Avett avoided the questions about Kylie and said to Sebastian “I think you have a lot of explaining to do Seb.”

Everyone looked at Sebastian and he grimaced “Ok fine. Remember when I ran away from home saying I didn’t want to go to the Jupiterian school anymore?”

Avett nodded. Sebastian fought at school every day and he finally got suspended for a week. Their mother grounded him and he ran away. Everyone had been very worried about him when he called two days later and said he was working in Neptunia. Because he was extremely independent and more of a trouble maker, their mother had disowned him and asked him to do whatever he wanted.

Sebastian continued looking grim “I went to work in Neptune and realized how tough it was to be all on my own without any educational qualifications. Physical labour was hard and difficult to get even for a zalz. I didn’t want to come back home after mom had disowned me. But I didn’t get anything to eat even. It was bad. That’s why I joined the plutonian army. Just for food and shelter. Well, the good pocket money they gave for undertaking the military training was quite cool too. I knew their training was really hard and a lot of the recruits died but I didn’t care. It was tough but I made it through. Mum didn’t know because I was earning money and also because I was coming home every holiday. Anyway, there isn’t much to tell. I am ilumini now. I was fighting the anazari few weeks ago and got badly injured. Magnus sent me home to recuperate but here I am now, again in the war zone, thanks to Avett and Jon.”

Jon looked star struck “You know Magnus? Does he have a big beard like Merlin in King Author story?”

Just then something struck the bolter and a strange buzzing noise started growing louder by the second.

“What the hell is that? Make it stop. My ears are burning. I can’t breath. Make it stop.” Jon screamed in the end dropping down on all fours. Avett heard the strange noise. It had a sort of tune but he didn’t understand the exaggerated reactions of Aline and Jon. They were writhing on the floor of the bolter, covering their ears. Sebastian looked pale and sick as he looked outside. “It’s them. The anazari.”
