Chapter five.. Pick me up

On the car ride home I sat next to Benedict holding her hand. I could see mum looking at us in the rearveiw mirror, frowning to herself. I wondered why she even bothered to come and pick me up, I sure didn't want her to. She didn't even say hello, she just grabbed my bag and signed me out.

I looked out the window staring at the houses passing by, none of them looked familiar. We were heading into another estate. "Perry is it just me or did you mum completely missed the turn of" Benedict whispered rubbing my knee. I turned around to face mum, who kept on driving. "Hay mum I think you missed the turn of back their, it looks like were hading into paridise estate" I said leaning forward, wresting my arms on the front seat. "I'm well aware of that Perry, now sit back please". Mum pointed to th back seat and I sat back, still seing the anger in her eyes. Now feeling a little worried I rested my head on Benedicts shoulder. She brushed my hair behind my ears. "It will be alright Perry" she said holding my hand tighter. She looked so scared that it worried me. Where the hell was mum taking me. I looked back out the window and watched as mum drove into Paridise Estate.

"Well where here" Mum announced pulling up in front of a set of large iron gates. Benedict who had fallen asleep woke up rubbing her eyes and looked around with a confused expression on her face. "Dee why are we parked in front of mina keran's house". I looked at Benedict "Mona who?" she laughed, taking my hand in hers as we got out of the car and followed mum to the front gates. "Mina Keran , she's a well known author around paridise place, she teaches creative writing at paridise university, she's my dad's friends daughter, she's pretty young to". I watched as mum pressed the buzzer and the gates opened. I looked at benedict , who now seemed quiet content. "How old, do you wrecken she would be" I asked. "To old for you Perry" mum said getting back in the car. And as we followed, Benedict whispered in my ear "It's okay you'll be in safe hands here".

What a nerve . I thought she was supposed to be on my side . She smiled at me Kissing me lightly on the cheek .I just smiled , while inside I suddenly felt like hitting benedict over the head with my hand bag. And as Mum drove up the driveway I looked behind, watching the iron gates close behind us.

Mina Sat us down at her old oakwood table, offering us numerouse savoury and sweet snacks to much on while she prepeared our cups of tea. She was a beautifull women, with raven red hair and brown eyes that you could just melt into. She wore a pair of faded jeans that on anyone else would look awfull and a black silky top wrapped at the back like a japenese camono. Benedict stared out the window, taking small bites from her biscut as she watched the fountain splash water all over the bird that came for their baths. I watched her for a while and returned my gaze back to mina. She handed us all a cup and sat down reaching out for a big black notebook that lay open next to her on the table. "New story" mum asked sipping on her tea. Mina smiled throwing her hair back behind her shoulders. "The hardest one yet " she said smiling "It has been so long, I think I need some new experiances to get myself back into the habbit again".

Mum laughed " Yes I know where your coming from their, those were the days we spent living life to the max, now it's all work and homemaking for women of my age. Mina nodded in agreement " Yes I must say, ever since I have taken on these creative writing classes, I seem to have absouloughtly no time for myself to write anything work sticking with, which Is why I made a promise to stick with this one. Mum nodded , eating a biscut like it was going out of fashion.

Mina turned to me, smiling sweetly , while flashing her pearly white teeth "So you looking forward to spending some time alone, Perry". I shook my head and looked at mum "I think I'd rather be spending sum time catching up with my friends, to be honest". Mum threw me one of her deathly looks as I grabbed another biscut shoving it all in my mouth at once. Mina continued to smile sipping the last of her tea "Well at least your honest" she said looking out the window, as if mysified by the sunlight shining upon the splashin water.

Benedict finally turned around , grabbing nother biscut "You wanna go outside and explore" she asked grabbing hold of my hand from under the table. I shook m head "I don't think we would be aloud to" I said slipping my hand from her grip , wresting it on the table. " I'll just ask and see then" she said patting mum on the shoulder. "Excuse me Dee would Perry and I be able to go outside for some fresh air". Mum turned around annoyed at her interuption and nodded, shhoing us away. Benedict stood up, pulling back my chair. "Come on lazy ass, get up, we got some exploring to do".

once outside the freshness from the cold filled my lungs up, making it hard for me to breath. Benedict wrapped her arms around my waist, kissing me behind my ears. "I'm not so worried about you now you know" she said rocking me back and forth. "You most definitely in good hands".

I smiled. I didn't feel safe, I felt scared. the whole Idea of being away from benedict, away from mum, it was like she wasn't even including me in the wedding. What was I, the back up for when it all fell to peices.

Why couldn't mum just handle the fact that I was in love with benedict , and then maybe we could all just get on with our lives. Benedict let go as we began walking into the courtyard. The smell of roses and flowerers I have never seen before wafting up my nose, causing me to sneeze. "I must confess Ben, I absouloughtly hate flowers, they stink so bad". She laughed sitting down on the green rocking chair that stood near the door. "Well I'll keep that in mind when we get married then".

Married, Benedict and I , getting married would their ever be a day. "I thought that was againts the law" I said slipping my fingers into hers. She nodded "Of course it is, but no one ever has to know, we could elope and run away together, and be wife and wife for the rest of our lives". I laughed, "Has a nice sound to it, but maybe by the time where 25 they would have got over their homophobia and it would be legal". She smiled kissing me on the cheek "I'm going to miss you so much perry, more than you could ever imagine". I frowned " I know how you feel, surely you'll be able to visit me". "Well If I can't I'll be ringning you everyday, and e-mailing to". I lay back in the chair, rocking back and forth. I was starting to feel a little drowsy, as the sun shone brightly into the courtyard. Benedict pulled her hair behind her ears and lay down, wresting her head on my lap. "Look familiar" she asked laughing. I smiled a little , still feeling a bit embarresed about the week before. "Ben , Can we please never mention that again". She rolled her head over, looking up at me "Was it really that bad bub" she asked sadness in her tone. I stroked her cold little face "It , itself was perfect, trust me, god Ben you had me screaming for like hours, but the whole hand cuff thing really scared me to death, I thought I was going to bleed to death".

"Well I wouldn't have let you, you know, I was just as scared as you where, I thought you were going to die,half naked attatched to my bed".

I couldn't help but laugh at that, But only for a few minutes, because the image of me dying alone floated through my mind and sent chills down my spine. "Are you girl's comftorble their" Mina asked walking through the door, mum behind her, with an angry expression spread across her face. Mina turned to mum "such loving sisters aren't they". Mum nodded ushering Benedict and I to come " Yes they certainly are" she said as we made out way to the car.

Benedict stood in front of the car door, while mum hugged Mina goodbye and handed a few papers, I could hear them whispering ,but I couldn't quite here them so well. I stood in front of benedict my arms around her waist. She felt so warm, I didn't want to let go. I leaned forward pressing my nose againts her ear "Is this where we say goodbye " I said kissing her neck soflty. She leaned into me pulling my body closer to her's "I guess so babe". Mum got into the car, slamming the door shut. I turned around Watching Mina walk back up the driveway."Guess I really will be alone" I laughed as a few tears started to fall from my eyes. I hugged benedict, taking one last smell of her pefume, I wanted to be able to remember it when I got back. I let go, holding bringing he face up to mine, kissng her softley I let go , and wiped the tears that were falling like buckets of rain from her eyes. She slipped into the car, pulling the door shut, as mum reversed out the driveway, with no even a kiss goodbye. I watched Benedict waved goodbye, then they were gone. I wiped my nose on my sleeve and turned around, making my way back up the driveway.
