Britney sat across from Addison at the table. Her hair falling in a loose braid behind her back.
"You seemed very different Miss Deese." Addison couldn't help the smile that wouldn't fall from her lips.
"Is it a crime being happy Brit?" Addison laughed.
"This early in the morning it is!" Both of them where happy to have each other company. Addison hadn't seen Britney, in almost a week, and she had so much to tell her older sister. Addison got to her feet and placed her bowel in the sink when a red Chevy pulled into the drive way.
"Got to go, make no pans tonight Brit, it's me and you tonight!" Addison yanked her beat up book bag from the floor and flung open the door.
"Good morning to you." He smiled as he threw her book bag into the back. She noticed his was wearing dark colored jeans, and a loose Aero shirt and his hat.
"Good morning to you too." She smiled as he backed out of her drive way.
"Your really gonna wear that hat? All day?" She grabbed his free hand and intertwined her fingers with his.
"Why wouldn't I? I told you, I freaking love this hat." He smiled toward her. The drive to school was short, but a sudden sinking feeling hit her, when they pulled into the school parking lot.
"Can I ask you do something really important? Can you not tell anyone? Please, I don't want Jess finding out just yet. I promise I'll tell her when I'm ready." She pleaded with him. He gave her a soft smile and spoke in a soft even tone.
"Of course." He kissed the top of her hand lightly and parked the truck. The parking lot was empty of student, but a few early birds. Addison pushed open the truck's door and slowly slid from the seat. She grabbed her book bag from the back and quietly slammed the door. she waled around to the driver's side and saw he was already gone. She looked around the parking lot, and saw he was already talking to a small group of boys.
She sat on the front steps of the school, and pulled out her notebook. She doodled sayings all over her note book, when someone shoved her from behind.
"Where the hell where you yesterday! I was so bored!" Addison gave a small laugh when Jess sat down next to her.
"I was to tired to get my lazy butt out of bed." She stuffed her notebook back in her book bag and turned toward Jess.
"Well I was bored, and Mr.Hall fell in the hallway, breaking his wrist so now we got a substitute!" Jess threw her hands up in the air.
"Plus I got a hair cut." Addison wasn't paying attention, but noticed Jess had cut her long blond hair into a short bob.
"Haley thought-" Addison held up her hand.
"You cut your long hair, for Haley? That frigid bitch was jealous." Addison hissed. She watched as Jess's face fell, tear pooled in the back of her eyes.
"Jess I'm sorry." Addison spoke softly.
"No you're right, I shouldn't have cut my hair. But I like it." Jess sighed and awkwardly ran her fingers throw her hair. A car speed in to the parking lot.
"Whoa." Addison mumbled as a boy with long lanky legs stepped from the car. He didn't look like he belonged at school. He was tall with wide broad shoulders. He was driving a sliver porch.
"Douchebag alert." Addison laughed. The new boy caught every one's eyes, even Ace. He glanced over toward Addison and cocked a eyebrow. She shrugged, suddenly a tall looming figure stood over her.
"Am I early?" His voice was deep, and sent chill racing down Addison's spine. Jess's cheeks deep in a shade of red.
"Ya, your early, school doesn't start until eight, but usually everyone comes early to hang out." Addison gave a lazy shrug and pushed to her feet. She yanked her book bag off the ground, and turned to go inside.
"I'm Jess." Addison hunched her shoulder's forward. Jess only used that voice when she wanted a boy to like her.
"I'm Ricky." Addison watched as Jess pulled down her tee, exposing more cleavage. Ricky seemed to notice, because he gave her a wicked smile and spoke in a seductive tone. " Can you show me around today, here's my schedule" Jess gave a ear piercing squeal and spoke in the most high pitch tone, where only dogs could hear.
"Your in all my classes!" Addison had to fight the urge to vomit. If he was in all of Jess's class, that only meant Addison was stuck with him too.
The first bell rang, and a loud moan spread throw out the crowd of teens. Ricky and Jess sat behind Addison in home room, she tried not to listen to their mindless conversation. But Addison couldn't help that Ricky's eyes where on her. The day seemed to drag on forever, but before she knew it the day was over.
Addison caught Jess by the wrist when she saw Jess walking toward Ricky's car.
"You better come over tonight." Addison told her in a low warning tone. Jess gave her a innocent smile and spoke in a pitched tone
"Of course!" Addison let go of her wrist and watched as she got in the car with Ricky.
Addison swung her book bag around, angrily. Her head was spinning when a soft grunt pulled her from her mind.
"Shit.." Ace sputtered.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" She clutched her bag to her chest.
"No it's fine, three fractured ribs means nothing when your girlfriend is angry at someone." Addison watched the last car pull from the parking lot, and smiled.
"I'm sorry." She grabbed his hand.
"So who was that new dude? He seems.. I don't know, like a true player." He pulled her door open to his truck.
"I don't know, his name is Ricky. Took a liking to Jess." She smiled and slid into the seat. Ace slid into the driver seat and started the truck.
"I don't know, he seems like his too good for everyone here, he makes me look less douche." She let out a slight laugh.
"What?" He smiled, as he pulled out of the parking lot.
"Your right, and I thought that wasn't possible." The ride was slient, but it was no longer the awkward silence. Addison could deal with this type of silence.
"You want to come over and watch a movie? Dad and Bonnie is gone for the week." He spoke softly as he pulled into Addison's driveway.
"I wish I could, but I got to hang with my sister, plus I don't trust Jess with that creep so I forced her to come to dinner tonight. Maybe tomorrow?" His blue eyes fell and a pang of sadness hit inside her chest.
"Ya tomorrow." He gave her a weak smile. She leaned over the middle console and lightly pressed her lips to his. Lightly at first but the longer her lips where close to his the more hunger grew inside her. Soon their kiss was locked in passion.
Addison finnaly pulled away after a moment. A hollow pit formed inside her chest. He ran his hand softly down her cheek and spoke " Hey, I'll see you tomorrow."
She pushed open the truck's door and quickly ran inside. Britney was hunched over a boiling pot of water.
"Hey kiddo! I got a movie on the shelf and dinner is kinda in the works! If this dam pot would.." Britney let out a frustrated huff. " Screw it, we're order Chinese food!" Addison laughed as her sister clicked the stove off.
"Oh Brit! I invited Jess over." Britney let out a smile.
" This wouldn't be a party with out her." Addison lounged into the couch, when a slight knocking echoed of the wooden door.
"I'll get it Brit, you just order me some food." Addison yanked open the front door, and watched as Jess's face light up. Her shirt was askew on her body, and her skirt was shifted slightly to the side. Her neck was covered in forming purple hickeys. Addison roughly grasped on to Jess's wrist and hissed in a low tone " What the hell happen to your neck? You look like a leopard." Jess yanked her wrist away and spoke in a low even tone " Nothing."
"Don't give me that-" Britney caught her off.
"Hey Jess! I haven't seen you in a while!" Britney wrapped her arms around Jess.
Jess gave her a bright smile and readjusted her outfit. " I've missed you Britney, did Addison tell you? She went to her first football game Sunday." A fiery heat crept into her cheeks. Sunday seemed so far off, after everything shes been throw.
"Ya, and I thought I was going to die." Addison slammed the front door, and jumped into the couch. Jess and Britney walked into the kitchen making idle conversation. Addison head was spinning around the thought of Ricky and Jess.
The night seemed to pass by, and soon enough Jess and Britney where sprawled out on the couch. Addison smiled and flicked off the t.v and dragged herself up to her room. She pulled basket ball shorts and a loose fitting tee. She pulled back the blankets and crawled into bed. The bed seemed a lot bigger with just her in it. She suddenly felt lonely.
The smell of pancakes and hot syrup awoke Addison from her deep slumber. She shuffled out of bed, and threw her hair into a sloppy bun. But the time Addison got downstairs, Jess was sitting at the table alone stabbing a fork into the pile of pancakes on her plate. The hickeys on her neck where now a deep shade of purple and black.
"So where Brit?" Addison crossed her arms standing at the top of the stairs.
"She said someone had called in sick at the office, she told me to tell you, she'll back around noon. Good thing you woke up when you did, I thought I was going have to pull you from bed, or we might have been late for school." Jess gave a weak smile.
"We are not going anywhere in till you tell me what the hell happen last night, that creep look like he tried to suck your blood." Addison yanked a chair out from under the table and sat across from Jess.
"Ricky? No, he just hands." Jess gave a lazy shrug.
"Hands? Really cause by the look of your neck, his used his lips, more than his hands." Suddenly Jess's eyes where angry.
"I'm not three Addison, I don't need you protecting me! What ever I do with a guy is non of your business, plus I bet you've done some stuff with a guy, that I don't know about!" Angry flared up inside Addison's chest.
"That is so-" She cut herself short, thinking of Ace.
"Addison I promise I know what I'm doing." Jess eyes returned to normal, and she grasped Addison's hands. Addison couldn't help the guilt she was suddenly feeling. " Lets go." Jess got to her feet. She was wearing blue skinny jeans with a v-neck shirt, and her blond hair fell in hair sprayed curls around her shoulders.
"Screw it, I'm not dressing this shit up. Lets go." Addison grabbed her book bag from the shelf and her keys from the counter.
Addison sat hunched over in homeroom listening to every girl snicker and whisper about Ricky and Jess.
"This is going to drive me clear up the wall." She hissed as first period's bell buzzed. She rummaged throw her book bag, to find her notebook missing.
"Of course." She stood in front of her lockers, suddenly Ricky's voice was echoing in her ears.
"So I heard you had a talk with Jess." Addison yanked open her locker, trying to ignore him.
"What I talk about with Jess is non of your business." She grabbed her gray and blue note book from her locker and slammed the door. She turned roughly on her heels, but he caught her by the shoulders.
"I think your jealous, little miss emo can't get someone like me, but your perky best friend can. But to be honest, I don't like Jess, I think she gives up way to easy, but you.." He ran his fingers down her side.
With out thinking Addison bawled her fist and swung it at him. She felt it when her fist connected with his nose. He stumbled backwards, hands flying up to his face. Thin lines of crimson blood flowed from between his fingers.
"Don't ever touch." Ricky got back to his feet and got close to Addison.
"Girl like you need to be put in their place." Addison roughly shoved him, sending his towering frame into a small group of student.
"Screw you." She waved her hand over her shoulder. A group of boys snickered and laugh as a teacher ushered Ricky down the hall.
"Hey are you alright?" Addison hadn't realized she was clutching her bag so tight, until her knuckles started ache.
"Nothing, he just..." She hissed. She was so angry at Ricky, and Jess, and even herself. The guilt inside her was tearing at her heart.
"Can we have Addison Deese to the front office please?" The woman's voice sounded annoyed over the intercom.
"Awesome, this day can't get any better." She roughly turned around when Ace caught her by the shoulders.
"I'll see you tonight right?" She had totally forgot about their date tonight.
"Ya, sure. See you tonight." She pulled away from him. She turned her head slightly and saw he was watching her walk away. She gave a sad sigh and yanked open the door to the office.
