Raven's Life

A little girl sit in a chair listening to her parents. Her name is Raven. They talk about moving away and then she hears a word sh ehas never heard before. She asked her teacher what "divorce" means and her teacher starts to say something then she stops and says, "Don't worry about it." That night the little girl sits in bed and listens to her parents again.1

The next thing she heard wasa popping sound. As she ran down the stairs, she heard another popping sound and her dad fell to the floor. She just sat there by her parents, not knowing what is going on. Th enext thing she knew she was picked up by a police officer. A woman takes her away from her house and she doesn't understand why. Now that she is older and living with another couple, she knows what happened in that house, she won't talk to anybody.2

Her foster parents are worried. She has no friends and she doesn't care because she knows DEATH is after her. But something happened that she didn't expect to happen. She fell in love with a guy that isn't like her. His name is Brad. Since she is different from everybody and she is with this guy, people dislike her ever more because Brad is the captain of the football team, the basketball team, and the baseball team.3

Months have since these two young people fell in love with each other. Raven still doesn't talk to her parents and she still doesn't have any friends. She and her boyfriend have been getting into fights lately and she keeps thinking about her parents, fearing that her relationship will end up like theirs. So she does the only thingshe can think of, she makes him mad, mad enough to dump her. After two weels of all that, he dumpes her.4

But now, she is starting to wish that she wouldn't have done that. Now every day at school when they pass each other in the halls they just look at each other for a moment. She wishes that she would have talked to him, at least she had someone who cared for her in a way that her foster-parents couldn't. One day after school when she gets home, she sees a couple of police cars and she starts to run towards the house.5

An officer stops her,but she pushes him and runs in the house. It is a horrifing scene. Her foster-parents have been murdered, but not by each other. SHe knew DEATH had been here. She could tell. ANother officer sees her, but before he can stop her she runs to her room and starts to pack clothes and just as she starts to walk out her room she turns around and walks to her desk grabbing a picture of her parents and her laptop.6

Raven starts to run from the house, but as she turns around a corner, a cop stops and picks her up. She is at the police station and she won't sat anything. But a familiar face comes up to her. She can't remember the person, but the woman remembers her. Then she realizes it is the woman that brought her to her foster-parents. The woman explains what happened when she was little and the cops let her go. The woman asked her if she had any other place to go.7

Raven gives the woman a mean look and just starts to run again. She goes to Brads' house. His mother answers the door and lets her in. Brad comes to see who it is. His mom leaves them alone and they go into the kitchen and she starts to cry. Brad asks her what is wrong and she tells him to watch the news. There is a report about her parents. He and his mom come back to find that Raven isn't there. He looks out the front door and sees her running away. He runs after her and gets her to stop. They go back to his house and she stays the night in the guest room. When he wakes up it is Saturday. But he isn't the only one in the bed. Brad looks at his clock and it is 7:00 am. He looks back at Raven and kisses her gently on her cheek and goes back to sleep. The next time he wakes up it is noon and Raven isn't there, but a note is and her laptop explaining everything. Brad's mom walks in and sees the note and laptop. She starts to ask him where Raven is, but then she stops, reading the the expression on his face, which tells her that he doesn't know.8

Four days have passed since Raven was at Brads' house. On Thursday morning Raven is in the kitchen of her house. She goes up to her room and see something. It is a book her foster-mother left for her. She grabs it amd leaves. When she gets to school everybody stares at her and whispers to their friends. Brads sees her and gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says,"What was that for?" and he doesn't say anything. The rest of the day everybody just stares and whispers about her. After school Brad skips baseball practice and takes Raven to his house. When they get there they see a buch of police cars. Holding each other's hands they both go inside and see that Brads' mom had been beaten to death. When one of the officers notices them, he tells them to get out. But Brad is frozen in his spot. Raven lets go of his hand and runs out. Brad comes out of his trance and notices that she left; he runs out after her and hears her crying. Raven is startled when he comes up to her. He sits down next to her and he wraps his arms around her and knowing that she is safe she tells him everything that has happened to her ever since her biological parents died. She tells him that she thinks she is cursed. After she finishes she looks up into his eyes and she knows that is she doesn't leave soon he too will die. 9


Raven and Brad at his dads' house. It is midnight when Raven leaves the house. Brad is the first to wake up. He goes into the guest room and sees that Raven ran away. His dad comes into the room and asks, "Where is she?" Brad just turns to his dad and stares at him. He turns back towards the bed and spots the letter that Raven for him. The note says:10

"Brad, I am sorry about your mom and also about leaving like this. Please don't come looking for me. I had no choice but to leave. If I had stayed you and your dad would have also died. I have already lost two sets of parents, I'm not going to lose the one person that really loves me.

Raven"11

Brad hands his dad the note she left and has a confused look on his face. It is Friday and all of Brads' teammates are asking him questions about yesterday, like "Why did you go up to that girl and giver her a kiss?" or "What is wrong with you missing practice?" Brad tells them about his mom and about Raven leaving his dads' house that night.12

After school he had to explain to his basball coach, Coach Kyle, why he left school without showing up for practice. His school is having a game tonight and his coach is trying to decide on what to do, to let him play or to keep him on the bench. Coach Kyle decides to let Brad play tonight.13

With Raven weighing heavily on his mind, Brad is having trouble warming up. He can't help but think that she could be in trouble. When the game ends everybody on Brad's team start jumping around and hollering, "We won. we won!" But Brad can't seem to enjoy the win. Before the game started Raven was on his mind, but once the game started he had to force himself to put her out of his mind and now that the game was over she started to come back to him. He was walking to his truck when he thought he saw her. When he got to his truck he found a note on the windshield that said:
"Hey,
I saw you play and you were great. I also saw you before and after the game. I guess you didn't see me before, but yes you did see me after. No, your mind wasn't playing a trick on you. Again I am sorry about your mom and I am also sorry about leaving like I did. I just wanted you to know that I love you so much and that I am leaving tonight. I only wanted to say good-bye.14

P.S. I know what you are thinkning and please don't do it. I don't want you to die also. I wouldn't be able to live my life (running from my life really) knowing that it was my fault taht you died because you were looking for me or if you found me, and then you died becasue of it. So I beg you not to come looking for me. And I meant it when I said that I really do love you so much. So now I say, 'Good-bye My Love!'"16

After Brad read the note he went straight home. He was worried about Raven and his dad could tell. Brad had been thinking about what the note had said, "I don't want you to die also. I wouldn't be able to live my life knowing that it was fault that you died because you were looking for me or because you found me." He knew something was wrong and that somebody was after Raven.17

Brad had it all figured out. He had made up his mind to go look for her. He would be graduating next week and the day after his and Ravens' graduation he would go looking for her. He knew she was still in town because his teachers asked him how she was doing. He had to lie to them and tell them fine, but she wouldn't be at graduation. He talked to his principal about getting Ravens' diploma when hee gets his. The principal said that would be fine.18

Brad knew he had passed all of his exams because his teachers told him so. He asked them about Ravens' exams and they all said she hasn't come to take them. It was Monday and he would graduating on Thursday. Brad went to the school to get his yearbook and saw Raven's name. She had come to get her yearbook. He asked the person in charge when she had come and they said about five minutes ago. He started to run down the hall when he saw her. He runs up to her and grabs her by the arm, but it isn't her. It isn't Raven. Brad says sorry and goes to his truck. Once again there is a note on his windshield. It says:
"Hey,
I just wanted to say thank you. The principal told me that you asked him if you could get my diploma when you get yours. I want you to keep it in case you don't come give it to me Thursday night at my house. I am going to be in my room until 12:00 pm. I love you.

The graduation has been over for two hours now. Brad wants to go over to Raven's house now, but he can't get away from his party. He finally is able to get out. When he gets to her house he sees her bedroom light on. He walks up to the front door and knocks. The door opens a little when he knocks. He pushes the door open and walks in the house. He goes up to the stairs and walks into her bedroom. When he steps into her room, he sees her walls and her bed. Then he sees her hanging from the ceiling fan.20

Brad wakes up with a jolt. It is Wednesday afternoon. The graduation in tomorrow night. Brad walks down the stairs and into the kitchen. He hears his dad and someone else. He knows it is a female voice. It sounds like Raven. He walks into the living room and stops. The female voice he heard was not Ravens', but his ex-girlfriend, Claire.21

Claire sees Brad and gets up and walks over to him. He goes back up to his room and gets dressed. He goes out of his house and gets in his truck. Claire and his dad follow him out and his dad tries to stop him, but he can't. Brad goes over to Ravens' house and goes inside and up the stairs to her bedroom. He walks in and sees her sleeping on her bed. He walks over to her and gently kisses her on the cheek.22

She opens her eyes and knows someone is there but can't see who. She gets up and starts to walk to the light switch when she bumps into Brad. She knows right away who it is. She turns on the light and walks over to him and she wraps her arms around him. They stand there for what seems forever, but really are only a couple of minutes. They lie down on Ravens' bed and watch TV. Before Raven fell asleep she told BRad that she was sick and that she was going to die very soon. She told him that she had Leukemia. Just before she fell asleep she felt Brads' arms tighten around her. Brad didn't know what to say so he just tightened his arms around Raven and closed his eyes and went to sleep.23

When they woke up it was 1:00 pm Thursday night. Brad had loosened his grip on Raven during the night and she slipped off the bed and went to take a shower. When she went back to her room Brad was still asleep. She got dressed and woke Brad up. He went and took a shower. When he got out of the bathroom he went to the kitchen and found Raven sitting at the kitchen table. He asked her when she first found out that she had Leukemia. She told him over the summer. She has an advanced case and nothing can help her. Brad looks up at her and she knows that he is mad. but not mad her, mad at the fact that she won't always be with him.24

She gets in the chair next to him and can tell that he is about to cry. She takes his hand in hers and just holds it. She tells him that everything will be fine and that he will be okay. Brad just starts to cry silently and gets up from the table so Raven doesn't see him cry.25

It is Thursday and Brad is at the graduation. He is wondering if Raven will show up or not. The graduation is just about to start when raven walks in and sits in her chair. She is really pale and is having trouble breathing. When her name is called she walks on to the stage and the principal hands her the diploma. She walks two steps past him and falls down.27

The principal turns around and bends over her. Brad runs on to the stage and sees that her lips are turning blue. Someone calls 911 and the ambulance shows up. The paramedics put her in the ambulance and Brad gets in with them. On the way to the hospital raven opens her eyes and sees the paramedics the Brad. She wishes Brad wouldn't see her like this, but she is happy he is with her.28

The ambulance pulls up to the hospital doors and a doctor comes out. He looks at Raven and then at Brad and asks who Brad is. Brad tells the doctor that he is Raven's boyfriend. The doctor looks at Raven then at Brad giving Brad a spectacle look. The doctor takes Raven to get an MRI. When he comes back he tells Raven that she has leukemia. Raven tells him that she already knows. That she has known since the summer. And that she knows it is an advanced case and that nothing can help her.29

That night while Brad slept in the chair, Raven got out of the bed and went for a walk in the town. She walked all the way to her house. She went inside and walked up to her bedroom and fell asleep on her parents' bed. When the nurse came in to check on Raven, Brad woke up. Brad jumps out of the chair and runs out of the room. After two seconds he figures out where she went and runs all the way to her house.30

He goes inside and walks up the stairs and starts to head for her room when he notices that her parents' bedroom door is open. He walks in and sees Raven sleeping on the bed. He lies down beside her and wraps his arms around her and falls asleep with her nestled in his arms.31

When Raven wakes up she hears someone coming up the stairs and she knows it is Brad. She feels him getting in the bed and wrapping his arms around her. She drifts off to sleep thinking that might never see him again and that while she has to leave she wants to stay with him.33

Raven has a dream that her foster parents died and that Brads' mom died. She was going to run away so that Brad wouldn't die either. The she dreamed that she was getting her diploma and then she just falls. In her dream she is in the hospital and that a doctor tells her she had leukemia. The later that night she walks to her house and goes into her parents' bedroom and falls asleep. When she wakes up Brad is coming up the stairs and is getting in the bed with her. He wraps his arms around her and falls asleep.35

Raven wakes up with a jolt and looks over at Brad and sees that he is sleeping in the bed with her. And that everything she had dreamed was true. Sensing something was wrong Brad woke up and sees that Raven looks like she has just seen a ghost. He sits up and takes Ravens' hand. She looks at him and knows that no matter what she does he will follow her and find her. She looks into his eyes and he looks right back and he understands what she was going to do. He pulls her close to him and holds her, he holds her the rest of the night.36

A week later it is Ravens' 18th birthday and Brad asks her if she will marry him, Raven says yes. And a month later Raven and Brad were married. They were only married for 4 months then Raven passed away. During those 4 months Raven and Brad experienced more love than anyone else on Earth ever has. No matter if it was love at first sight or if a couple was married for 50 years. While Raven was alive she taught Brad how to love and live his life without any cautions.38

It has been a week since Raven died. Brad woke up with a jolt still able to feel Raven wrapped in his arms. Brad never got the chance to ask her is would marry him. Raven had died in his arms the night she left the hospital. She knew it would be her last night on Earth and she didn't want to spend it in a scary hospital. Brad has had different dreams about her death every night, but this one seemed and felt so real. He jumped out of his bed and went to check the date and month. It has only been a week after her death. He still sees her every where he goes and thinks about her all the time. He wishes he could go to sleep and never wake up as well so that he would be with the one person he loved and the one person who loved him for who he was. But he will keep going on living his life and he will try to find his way back to Raven eventually.
