Campbell River

Clear bits of patterns of artifacts1

unfamiliar names of geology2

follow time in simple order.3

Mirror-still on you4

walking with you back in time 5

of misty days on snow-capped mountains6

and ocean banks7

of things and creatures8

trapped in ice9

that still haunt the land. 10

The melancholy forest of trees 11

that change shape 12

in strange features and creatures,13

the piling of new logs 14

until a new creation is born.15

I think this place holds my soul16

as I watch thin boats glide in the deep17

and sea salmon climbing 18

and out of the ocean riot19

whales bellow.20

I'm not a big fan of nature poem, well not really nature, but animals water, stuff like that isnt really my thing, but I really liked this, I thought it was very beautiful and had a great flow to it. Good luck and thanks for entering the contest

This was a very original take on that choice, I really liked how you went about this. (This contest keeps getting harder and harder to judge though, heh. ) Anyways, I loved the smooth flow, it felt like I was riding gently in a boat on that river you were describing. The imagery was excellent, I felt like I was seeing snapshots before my eyes of the scenery. I liked the wording of this, it gave the poem a unique feel that I really enjoyed, kind of mystical and yet realistic all a the same time. This was well done, I enjoyed the read, thanks for entering and good luck.
