No Name - Chapter 1

Her reflection in the mirror left little to be desired. The pink and black corset-like blouse hugged her body, showing off every curve of her silhouette, and enough cleavage showing to distract anybody. Her skirt, even though it was floor-length, showed off her hips perfectly. Her black hair flowed from her head in a loose wave all the way down to the middle of her back, and her face, though youth still shone very brightly, her amber eyes told of years of wisdom and pain.

Walking around her house to turn off the rest of the lights, she took one last look in the mirror, and smiled. She walked out of the house, locking the door behind her. Shivering from the night air, she got in her car, started it up, and headed towards town. Turning on some music, she stepped harder on the gas, speeding up to avoid a red light, and not slowing down after. She loved driving. It was a modern invention, but very useful for traveling. She had been stopped many times for speeding, but never given a ticket. It wasn’t a secret that she was very persuasive.

Passing her destination, trying to find a parking place, she noticed that the lines were rather long. It made her happy that the owner had given her the privilege of using the VIP entrance whenever she came. It looked as if it was a full house tonight. She liked that. Around the corner from the club, there was one parking place, just large enough for her car to parallel park. She locked the doors, and walked her way into the VIP entrance.

“Bartender! Rum and coke!” he yelled. You had to yell for anyone to hear you in this place. Everything was so loud and fast that if you didn’t yell, you were just passed by, or even over if you didn’t watch out. He really couldn’t complain though. This was the best place to go if you wanted to go somewhere decent that didn’t cost five dollars for a drink. A cute blonde who looked barely old enough to even get in the place, let alone work there placed his drink in front of him. He nodded at her as he took a sip from the glass.

The room was extremely hot from the body heat of so many people in there, jumping around and breathing. He had only been there for about half an hour, and his long, curly black hair was dripping with sweat. He smiled. He was young, and should be finding some girl that would find his good looks and intelligence irresistible, but that just wasn’t him. He couldn’t stand guys that forced their personality on women; it was slimy and low. He took another sip from his glass and walked over to a booth and slid in.

Above the back of the seat across from him was a mirror. Staring into it, he studied his features. He did have the whole dark and sinister look about him, but that was just how he had always looked. Even with sweat dripping from his forehead, he had to admit he did look rather dashing that night. He had dressed for a gig in a venue not far from the club he was presently at, but a fight had broken out, and started a riot. His gig, sadly, was cancelled. He took another sip from his glass. His green eyes cut over to the bar, pondering getting another drink after this, but thought better of it. He had to drive all the way home, and was sure no one here would be his designated driver. He would stop and head home after one.

Upon entering the club from the second floor, she could feel the many heartbeats that circulated throughout the room. The blood pulsing through each body there, made her hungry, and she began her search for adequate prey. She made her way down stairs, smelling the mix of blood, sweat, and alcohol that so temptingly seduced her nose. Weaving her way through the bodies, she looked for someone who would be weak-minded to follow her will. These days, weak-mindedness wasn’t as hard to find like it was in the old days. She had to admit, she was extremely picky about who she fed from, and on a few occasions, it had left her hungry by daybreak.

She felt a hand slap her in an area she did not want touched. Quickly turning around, and placing her hand at the guy’s throat before he could even blink, she whispered. “You do not want to do that again,” Her fangs extended, and eyes glazed over. She was hungry, but he wasn’t worth it. She let him go, and pushed her hair out of her face. Her hunger increasing by the second while bodies with hot blood circulating through them danced around her, bumping into her on many occasions. Hungrily, she continued with her search.

It wasn’t even an hour after she got there, that Rina had found a guy that was more than willing to talk to her alone. It never was hard. She was rather convincing. She pushed back his brown hair to reveal his neck, as she kissed and teased it gently. She could feel the blood pulsing through his veins faster as chill bumps rose on his skin. Restraining herself from biting him on the neck, she grabbed his hand and kissed all the way down to his palm. Necks are too public she thought. He was enjoying this. The smile on his face gave her the incentive, and the fact that his heart rate was not only making her hungry, but excited gave her more than enough motive. She bit right at the base of his thumb and began to drink as the guy began to breathe even deeper.

Whoever this girl was, she was amazing. He had no idea what she was doing, and really didn’t care. It felt great. His eyes were closed as he held out his hand to her as she grabbed for it. Whatever she had done to his palm felt better than anything he had ever felt in his life. He felt his jaw drop and cold chills just run from his arm, all through his body. He wanted to take her to his place, hoping she could stay the night and possibly go even further. The thought made whatever she was doing feel even more pleasurable. He started breathing deeper. She wasn’t even doing anything and he was near orgasm. Looking up, he moaned slightly and the words “don’t stop” were right on the tip of his tongue, and then out of nowhere, it stopped.

When she was sure that the puncture wounds had clotted, she pulled away and licked her lips. She smiled at him and kissed him lightly on the lips.

“Do you want to head to my place?” He whispered in her ear, “ It’s not really that far.”

Rina looked at him. Her eyes glazed over and her voice deepened. “You have a very busy day tomorrow, and can’t stay up late with guests.” She shook her head.

“What was I thinking?” He exclaimed. “I have such a busy day tomorrow, I couldn’t possibly stay up late with you… no matter how much I want to. I’m sorry.” He caressed her face, kissed her goodbye on the cheek, and left.

Watching him, Rina smiled. She had always been so convincing. She headed to the bar, not really wanting anything to drink, but there was nothing better to do in a room filled with people dancing, or what people today called dancing. To her, it looked like sex, except for the clothes. She pushed through the masses of sweaty bodies, and leaned over the bar.

“Hey, Rina!” the bartender called over to her and walked towards her.

“Hey, Lisa.” She looked around, “Busy tonight?” Rina knew the answer, but bothered to ask anyway for the sake of conversation. The blonde had always amused her.

“Very!” She exclaimed as she poured Rina’s usual drink. “For a Friday night, it’s kind of normal though.”

Rina smiled, grabbed her drink, and took a sip. It was straight water. Just how she liked it.

“Bartender!” he yelled again, this time to hand his glass back to the girl. She took it, and walked over to the same place she was before, talking to some chick. Whoever she was, she was pretty. Rather pale, if he did say so himself, but beautiful all the same. He watched as the woman drank her drink, handed the glass back to the bartender and head towards the exit. His curiosity got the best of him. Standing up and pushing his way through the crowd, he left, following the beauty at a safe distance. As she got in her car, he noticed how stupid he was for following her. What was the point in it? To find out where she parked her car? He went to find his own, and headed home, hoping not to get stopped by the cops, because he was sure the smell of alcohol was still fresh on his breath.

About a mile from the club, he saw blue lights. Damnit! Roadblock! He thought out loud, hitting his steering wheel in frustration. There wasn’t anywhere to turn off, since he did live well outside of the city, and was forced to stop. Rolling down his window, he tried to think of what to tell the officer.

“License and Registration.” Mumbled the officer who looked like there were a million other places he would rather be. Handing the officer the papers, the officer looked at him for a moment. “Draven Kennedy. Well, Mr. Kennedy, will you please step out of the vehicle?”

Shit! Draven thought as he got out of his car. The next moment, there was that lady from the bar standing beside the officer, eyes glazed over, and using a voice that didn’t sound like it could possibly come from someone so tiny.

“There is nothing wrong with this man, you will let him go.” She growled, looking the cop right in the eye. Draven thought that whatever she was doing wouldn’t do any good. The officer had plainly smelled the alcohol on his breath and was going to test him for a DUI right there, no matter what she said. Who did she think she was anyway? Trying to dissuade an officer of the law would get her into worse trouble than what he was. Plus, she didn’t even know him, why would she be trying to help him?

“Ummm… There seems to be nothing wrong, Mr. Kennedy. I’m sorry for the time. You can be on your way now.” The officer mumbled, as he walked away.

As soon as he was sure that the officer was out of earshot, Draven stared down at the woman. “Who are you, and why did you follow me out here and then save my ass?” he inquired the woman. He was a whole head taller than her, and had the feeling he was at least 5 years older than her as well. It made him wonder how she had the nerve to even stand up to him, let alone that cop.

Rina’s voice deepened, same as it had with the officer. “I am Larina Cargaile. Who are you, and why did you follow me to my car?” Moving closer to him made her have to look almost straight up. She was quite short, but that had never stopped her from anything before. She had done much worse to beings twice this man’s size.

Draven was silent for a moment, wondering if he should tell her the truth or not. If any normal person came up to me with their eyes glazed over and a deep, semi-demonic voice, I would run. That sounds good right now. Yeah, now! He tried to run, but it felt like his shoes were full of lead. He couldn’t even make an effort to move. He decided that lying would get him nowhere in this situation, so he decided to tell the girl the honest truth, as he continued to wish that his initial plan had worked.

“You interested me.” He told her. “Without even a word, I was curious about you. I know, call me a psycho stalker. I decided better of it, and was heading on my way home. You know, most women would just be freaked out about something like that, and hurry home. They wouldn’t follow the person and try to freak them out by doing some odd voice, and staring blankly at them.” He wore an annoyed look on his face towards the woman. She was very beautiful, yes, but also very bold. That boldness would get her killed one day. He could have been a serial killer for all that she knew! He glared down at the girl, whose eyes were back to normal, but the same look of a growl without the sound was plain on her face.

“Call me different.” She spat through clenched teeth. He had given way too much information for him to have given in to her will. For a brief moment, she contemplated killing him, but decided better of it. He has a penis. He can’t help how he thinks when it comes to a woman. She gave him one last glare, and backed off. Without another word, she turned and headed towards her own car.

“Wait!” Draven called out to her. Watching her turn around, still giving him a snarl, making him feel even more idiotic. “Listen, I think we got to the wrong start.” She’s staying…Good… ”I’m Draven Kennedy, musician.”

“That’s nice.” She said slyly, turning around. Draven watched her as she got in her car, and sped off. He felt like an idiot. I’m at a roadblock, right outside of my car, and just got done having some kind of fucked up argument with a girl I don’t even know! He got in his car, banged his head on his steering wheel in frustration, and continued home. She was beautiful and scary, great. You sure know how to pick them, Draven.

Putting more pressure on the gas pedal, Rina continued to become lost in her own thoughts. He resisted me. It’s been years since I’ve talked to someone who actually could choose to comply, and actually did. Draven Kennedy. He resisted my power, but complied anyway. Draven Kennedy the musician. But, how did he do it? He seemed no different than the cop, or that guy I fed from at the bar. Her thoughts trailed off. The sun was soon to come up, and she had to hurry home. It was time for her to take a long nap.
