Cross my heart and hope to die

Mio sat beneath the same old tree, she is always by. Doing the same thing she always does, feeding her beloved bird; the crow. This girl did the same exact thing everyday, as if she had no idea that was all she ever did. Or perhaps all she could do. 'Mio! Mio!' a few crows screamed, in their scratching song. Some called her a demon, or a witch, because she never left this bird’s side, and those birds, were an icon of darkness. 'Don’t leave us Mio!' one bird screeched. 'We need you!' another added. "It's alright...really, I won’t ever leave you all...you’re my greatest friends..." she said, seeming happier then she looked.

'We don’t believe that Mio' a large crow said. 'Yes, Mio! Prove us your trust to us' one said. Mio tossed some crumbs at them to eat. 'Give us your blood, Mio' the large one said. "Alright, I will" she said. She leaned against the tree, and put her hand down on the ground, as a crow hopped over and pricked her finger and nipped at her blood bubbling up. "Do you believe me yet?" she asked them. 'No, now you must give us your memories' the large crow said. Mio sat down on the ground, and pulled out her photo album she had with her. Inside were picture of her family, before they died of an illness.

She gave it one last look, and threw it on the ground, before the large crow. The others hopped over to it and pulled at its velvet edges. And tore the pictures full of vacous people. "How about now? I cross my heart and hope to die. I'll always be here...here to take care of you all" she pleaded. 'That’s not nearly enough, Mio...give us the very heart you crossed' the Large crow said. "A-are you sure? Sure that, you can just trust me?" she asked, as tears started to well up. 'Mio, don’t you care for us? Give us your heart!' they smaller once cried.

'Fine, I will" she said. She pulled, out a small switch blade she kept with her, and started to carve at her chest. Screaming with every movement. Blood gushed out and splattered on her cloths, as she held her legs to her body. She let out one final scream as she ripped out her heart and tossed it to the snow. Instantly, her head hung forward. And her body went cold, and stiff, in the snow. Her heart had a string of blood attached to it that the smaller crows picked at. The large one hopped over and lifted the heart off the earth with his beak. 'We believe you now' he said, swallowing the heart. The other crows and he moved close to her, and began to feast upon her body, with a vacous pleasure.

This was kinda what came to mind first. A fable with the moral, never make a promis you cant keep. And if you can keep it, to what cost is it to you?

    4 notes:
    Well written
    Like a fable
    had a beginning and ending
    directly towards the stimulus

    Overall:
Personally, i love gore. (but no brownie points for that! ) I liked how this had a beginning and ending but still left you asking questions.
