the Old Bean Crock

The old bean crock held back the front door.1

Many a beans the had cooked and stored.2

Then one day the load was too much.3

The pot of beans took one large plunge.4

A hole let the beans out, and the light in.5

The pot was like an old friend.7

A touch of glue, and the pieces stayed in.8

Now there are flowers coming out.9

When the air begins to turn cool,10

By the fire place he takes up as rule.11

There it holds a collection of things. 13

Ever so often this makes added weight.14

But on the floor, can hold it all secure.15

It is nice to know the pot is so dear.16

The bean pot's been here for so many years.17

A shelf was put upon the wall.19

Left with clutter and dust.20

Always being shoved against the wall.21

Then pushed a little farther down the shelf.22

There was a lack of shelf one time.23

Ker-plop and it was out of line.25

There were many pieces for to glue.26

No more shelf or fireplace this time.27

Out the front door a piece at a time it went. 28

He is flickering in the sun light this time.29

A friend is a treasure we put in our life.31

Till we tire and put them on the shelf.32

For tomorrow we pick another to stay.33

This is done till they fall from the shelf.34

Or they move away and there is only you.35

True friends are hard to find and keep.37

Not all of them will wait and wait and wait.38

Life does go on and on.39

Sometimes one does not anticipate.40

With all friends gone, you just wait.41
