Preperation

Frantically I threw on my dress, along with nylons. I was running out of time! I looked at the clock and yelled out to my mom. She came back in and helped pull the constricting strings that belonged to the back of my dress. As the strings got tighter, my breath got shorter. Breathing was compromised along with comfort. It was worth it.

I had a small crowd waiting for me in the kitchen. They all wanted to see the dress. I had now time to make any special appearances yet; it was time for my makeup to be put on. Lisa came to the rescue. A cold cotton ball drenched with makeup was smeared across my face. It covered up all of the imperfections. She made me turn my head and then I saw the clock my hands started to sweat. I knew I was going to be late. I had a bad feeling about it. I closed my eyes for an application of eye shadow and I counted every second nervously. I couldn’t afford to be late. Every chance I got I was staring at the clock. I thought maybe by staring at it the numbers would start to go backwards, or time might go bye a little slower. None of the above happened, time pressed on like usual. I could hear talking all around me. Everyone was talking about the weather, my dress, and how much fun I was going to have. My anticipation was growing by the second. Each time the second hand ticked on the clock another shot of adrenaline rushed through my veins.

With ten minutes left, my makeup was finally finished. I ran to the closest mirror to gaze at the temporary face she had painted on me. It looked amazing. Right after that I rushed and got my heels on, and grabbed my pocketbook. I was teetering at the door ready to bolt out of it. My crowd was no longer interested in my unveiling and got lost into topics of their own. Soon my dress was not the talk of the group; it was the new curtains I had picked out. I zoomed back into the kitchen still aware of the approaching deadline, and I interrupted their curtain discussion and reminded them why they were there. We all flew out the door, and my mom began snapping pictures immediately. People were getting tossed next to me and we would pose for a few pictures and then another person would step in. the sun was in my eyes, so instead of a nice smile my face was all crinkled and my eyes were squinted.

Finally my photo shoot was over. The car ride seemed to take forever. After a few wrong turns we reached the house where we would meet the limo. We all started to gather and talk. We waited for our parents to say their goodbyes and let us get into the limo. Once all of the pictures were done being taken, and all of the parents had driven away, we made our way to prom.

    Haha. Prom.

I like this. It shows just what us girls have to go through to make ourselves look decent for dances like that.

The only thing I saw was that it seems a little choppy and it jumps aroun a little during each paragraph.

    Other than that, good job

I liked how you managed to portray the character's anticipation in the beginning, you did an excellent job with that, using different styles of forming words. On the other hand, "After a few wrong turns we reached the house", it made it seem like you reached the house by making those wrong turns, perhaps a little rephrasing. But well done, keep writing!
