aquiring the ring

In a remote part of town, there is mysterious house that lay within a forestry boundary of the town and country. The house is mysterious for no one really knew of the existence until a party was held there some years ago. Not only was the house mysterious, but the man who owned the house was as well. The oddest feature about the man was a mask that he wore. The mask fit his head as a raccoon’s mask than a Halloween mask. Where his eyes were two black spots. It was a couple years later he had a daughter that lived with him. She, too, wore the same type of mask. He was no hermit for he taught fencing and self-defense for the community. He did reward a few students, but he had a catch with his rewards for they could not resell the items that he gave them. It may seem like unimportant, but it was for many of the items that he would offer were very rare that was unknown anyplace else. Sometimes, he was known to discontinue teaching those students who had resold his items.1

Today was a more quit day. The only sound inside the house is some music from some speakers compared to other days the sounds of children learning either fencing or self-defense. He was alone with his daughter which she was hugging an oversized doll. The doll was about her height. The clothes of the doll made the doll real old for it had many patches. The clothes looked more like a suit made from a patch quilt. Only the hands and head, it gave the doll the appearance that it looked new. Her father was holding a box that could be other clothes for the doll. The box display an age upon it as well. It was a white box, but it had the appearance of dust and cobweb removed from the top. The doll suddenly looks like it was coming alive for the arms started to rise and to give her a hug. Her father spoke up and said, “Amirl.” He repeated the name more force and more sternly. He continued to say, “Amirl, I have something to give to Seth.”2

With a shock in her eyes, she gracefully put down Seth to the ground. She looked straight into his eyes and remarked, “Seth, I thought you came to see me!” Seth was nervously silent. Amirl turned away and walked down a hall to the rest of the house. Seth was watching her to leave, but his voice could not speak. Until she was far remote from view Seth turned over to look at the man.3

Seth spoke by clearing his throat, “Oh, you got your old uniform.” He said happily.4

The man presented the box to him and remarked, “Do you love, Amirl?”5

Seth took out of the man, and said, “I do not know and thanks.” Seth was about to leave the room when he came to a magical wall. The wall was 100 by 100 grid. There were three colors to identify the box grid. The most predominate boxes were colored white that was present on at least all the rows. The next color boxes were blue. They speckled throughout the grid, but was present within four fifths. It seem like there was slight pattern. The last color was red, but was only present on the first two squares. It was interactive. If you had pressed down the first red square, you may not think it was. The second red square, however, made the other boxes light would go on. When a blue box was pressed, the second red box would light on. Depending which blue box you press, some of the white boxes would flash. Usually the closer to the red box that you press, the more white boxes would flash. They may start flash at the same time, but stop flashing at different times. When they do restart flash, it is when the red box would blink. When you press a white, at least one blue box would blink. The blue one would above the one press, but not usually directly above it. The blue one that blink the same amount when you press that blue box if were able to look at it when you pressed it. You could do combination of the boxes. The only one that seems less effect the flashing is if one of the boxes pressed was the second red box. The only time they will not flash at all is if the one was the first red box. The flashes seem to diminish if they were the other combinations. Seth started pressing some of the buttons, and it look like he was seeing what was happening. Suddenly Seth spoke up, “I got it!”6

“Do tell me what is it.”7

“Ok, its factor counter.” Seth looked at the man, but the man only had the present to have him go on. “The first box is zero, and goes on to 99. Each row a 100 more then the previous row. The blue boxes represent the prime numbers within that area. When they flash, they indicate its composites before that number and after it’s that pressed number is a factor of that number. The flashes indicate to what power of that chosen number before and after to what power the number pressed of that number. The reason the second red button blinks at the end its only that number. It is also indicates when its start over again.”8

“Very good. I will get that prize for that, so please wait.”9

Seth did wait, and while waiting he decided upon looking inside the box. He did not see Amirl return or the man left the room. Amirl came in a few seconds after same area where Amirl return. Amirl started to speak when Seth was looking at the uniform, “Well, I heard you figured out the Prime Square wall.”10

Seth put down the uniform, and said, “Yes, it took awhile; but I figured it out.”11

“It is easy once get.” She approached to Seth and grabbed a sweatband that looked very much like mask she wore without the black spots. “I want you to do me a favor.” Without much hesitation placed and pull down the sweatband on Seth until it appeared the same on him as her mask was on her. “I want you to wear this until you can tell me or my father on your feelings about me. If you confined that you don’t love me to either of us, you can take it off.”12

When Seth started to look at her, her black spots became lighter as if she switched them to something like sunglasses. It was the only thing that changed on her. Seth tried to control his nervousness and spoke, “Amirl, have you done something to your glasses? They look different.”13

Before Amirl could speak, her father came in. Seth, also notice it was with her father’s mask as well. Amirl’s father spoke, “Here is the ring.” It was black in color. It was as black as their mask’s black spots used to look like to him.14

Seth grabbed it like it was piece of candy in his hand, and he did thanked him for it. He was putting it. Before it would have reached his base of his finger, Amirl spoke, “Seth, I am sorry if I was being hasting about what I asked you.”15

Seth did looked up when she called out his name. As he did, he felt a tingling sensation that emanated from his hand. It proceeded to his back that made it feel as if some doused him with water, but he did not feel the water. He looked back at his hand, and he discovered the ring disappeared or dropped off his hand. He started look around him and said “I must had dropped the ring after that feeling I had.”16

“At least, you lost it here, Seth.” Amirl said with some compassion.17

“Seth, I will give you this ring as temporary ring until we find the other.” Said Amirl’s father. The ring was more colorful. It looked like three glass rings smashed into one ring. It was all around smooth despite where the one color merged in to the other. The colors were red, blue, and green. Where the colors extended to other main color, it was very close to the midpoint; but it looked like it faded to that point. Seth grabbed it the same way, and placed it on the same finger. At first glance, it looked too big for Seth’s finger. This time, he was not interrupted when he was putting it on. As it ring came to his base, one might hear a faint click sound. It is unclear if Seth heard it for he felt his throat turned dry on him as well as his ears popped. Seth cleared his throat. Afterwards Amirl’s father also cleared his throat, he said, “Would you need a drink to clear your throat, Set?”18

“Yes, a small one would be fine.” Seth said as he looked at him.19

Amirl’s father smiled and proceeded to get a drink for him. “I am so glad everything else went ok for you.” Amirl said with delight, “Will the uniform be your Halloween costume?”20

“Yes.” Seth said with a Smile.21

Amirl had Seth walk with him towards a mirror in the room, and she the posed with him as if they were going have a picture taken in front of the mirror and commented, “Don’t we make a good pair?”22

Before Seth could answer, her father came back in with a drink for Seth. The drinks color looked like it was a mix of apple and orange juice. “Here you go, Seth. Enjoy.” He said as he handed him the glass.23

The juice had that flavor of apple and orange with spicy after taste that close to habanero pepper, but it was hotter. Seth drank it down with a gulp more to avoid answering Amirl’s question. The spiciness did not seem react to him though. “Thank you.” Seth said and handed back the glass to Amirl’s father. Seth went to his box and closed and grabbed it. He proceeded to go to the exit. “I hope you have a good time at your party that you are going to.” Seth said as exited the door.24

“I will try to call you when I get back, Seth.” Amirl said politely. She turned to her father as Seth was out earshot distance, “Do you think Seth loves me?”25

“Yes, I think he does.” Her father said to Amirl as he is waving back to Seth who could not hear their conversation. “He is on the borderline with many things.”26

“What do mean a being on the borderline?” Amirl asked her father.27

“I have seen people like him. No one praise him enough. He does not know whether loves him or hate.”28

“What if anything I should something special for him?”29

“Yes.”30

“Do I have do that to him?”31

“Yes.”32

“No, I cannot do it to Seth.”33

“You must if you want to know.”34

Amirl left area they were at and began to cry, and said “Yes.”35
