Drabble - Gambit

They talk. I listen. It’s how it goes. Their muffled chatter reaches my ears behind the thin walls of conscious. Phrases stick in my head, as if on repeat. “It’s would be better…” “How would you feel…” “I’m telling you this as a friend...” “Maybe one day we can…”1

I choose to ignore them; the poker face of a thief has faced wind and ice and still would not crack. 2

They talk and I listen, but their words do not break me. I am Gambit, and the rumours of my ‘friends’ do less then a paper cut. Showing weakness is showing defeat, and a blind fool would see that’s what they want. Silenced by commands of those who seek to ignore me, I am a blind fool. They talk, I listen and never again will I speak.3
