The concerned voices of the few surrounding his bed were slowly getting quieter, and his vision was blurred with a soft dark haze. Darker, darker, until he was swallowed up in it. Somehow, though, for the first time since that War (what War? there was something... he couldn't quite remember...), he felt at peace. There was a man, then, with long black hair grinning doggedly at him, then a mirror of himself (but it wasn't, was it?) of messy black hair, holding him, and a smiling woman, her hair wavy and fiery red, green eyes, a lanky red-haired boy coming to greet him, and a blinding white light that didn't hurt, really, at all... He was... happy...2
He breathed out for the last time with a smile on his face.3

Vernon Dursley shuffled to the street corner, facing the entrance to a dim building. Nasty place, really, he thought. The last time I'll have anything to do with this funny business... the boy's gone like his parents... 5
Petunia seemed somehow to be affected by the whole thing, the deaths of these weirdos, but not him, no! Good riddens to it! He'd just pay his last respects to this boy, then get away somewhere, far away where the few and strange friends of the boy, strange friends of his no good parents, wouldn't be.6
Entering the room, he cringed to see the odd clothes and funny objects the weeping people were wearing. It was enough! He'd see the end of it for his family. Just one last look at the boy...7
He approached the casket, looked down at it with mild disgust, and then nodded, trying hard not to meet any eyes, at the people he passed going out of the place. There was something different about the boy... same awfully messy hair as usual, of course, and the paleness, no... the boy was always pale anyway... There was just something missing.8
He didn't think of it until he was halfway home to Privet Drive, in his newest smartest car the head employer had given him from Grunnings. There was indeed something missing, come to think of it. It wasn't there any longer. The boy didn't have... the boy didn't have that blasted scar.9

Author notes
My idea at the end of the series, keeping in mind that JKR is rumored to have said the last word is 'scar'. For a fanfic contest! Woo!

Oh, I know, I'd be a wreck, but I still enjoyed writing this fanfic... LOL. Thanks so much.

Oh my gosh!!! I cried forever when Rowling offed Sirius and he wasn't even dead!!!! If this ever happened in any of the books, aI think I'd have to do myself in!!!! Great write though. You really captured the way Vernon Dursely speaks and thinks. The linguistics and composition of the whole thing was ver accurate and well done! Kudos on an awesome write! Keep it up!

Thanks so much! I never explained why it was Vernon Dursley's perspective! I should've! It was because the first Harry Potter book, remember, was from his perspective at the beginning, not Harry's... so that's another little theory of mine, that it would end with his perspective as well. Well, hopefully not, because then it gets very bitter and ironic almost, but that's why I wrote it that way.
I was guessing Voldemort, too, until JKR mentioned that it wasn't going to be Harry, and it wasn't going to be Voldemort. I'm guessing Lupin for now, just 'cause I love him, and guess it's him for everything, LOL. Anyway, thanks!
(I forgot, again, that you were a HP fan, too... this is brilliant. A Clay fan and a HP fan!

A beautifully written death indeed! To fade gently into the arms of loved ones is the kind of death we can only hope for. I rather enjoyed your little twist about the scar. This whole story kinda ties in with the theory of Harry having to die in order for Voldemort to be gone once and for all (a theory I subscribe to, btw). If the scar is truly crucial to thier link, it would make sense for it to disappear when they both die. I hadn't thought about that until you mentioned it. Brilliant! I found it odd that you would choose to end it through the eyes of the Dursleys, though. I don't wish to criticize because I'm not sure who I'd choose instead or why. I just find it a curious choice and would love to know why you chose to do it that way. All together, I found this to be very good, a well written and thoughtful speculation.
And since everyone seems to be theorizing as to who the half-blooded prince will be, I'll throw in my guesses too. First guess would be Voldemort himself. He is back, and he is a half-blood, so why not? My other guess is that she'll introduce an entirely new character and surprise us all. I'm hoping it's the second one. I'd love to see yet another new face in the series. -
nice job, I found this one interesting.

Thanks! Yeah, you have a point there, too... and is he a half-blood? I think so. It's possible, right? It might very well be Dean! I was also thinking Lupin... eh, just 'cause I always think Lupin. Hehe. Can't wait for Book 6, though!
Yeah, Ron dies too... Poor thing.

great write. I'm replying to your comment about who the half blood prince is. My parents and I have read all the books, so we have been arguing about it. I think it is Dean, because she pulls him in the story in the last chapter, and she says on her website that Dean has a past she hasn't yet got around to putting into her story(of course, she also says she probably won't put it in, but you never know if all of the sudden she found a use for it.
So ron dies too? aww, that isn't cool.

Wow this is great. Not that i mean he died an all. But you knwo a good story> ^^; This is how I think its going to end some what as well. I'm not really sure though. I dont want to start guessing and be competly off with what she said since she may write something completly opposite that I guessed ^^; Thats hwo my luck is.

Thank you!
Oh, yes, fanfiction is very fun... I heard about that too! Can't wait. Who do you think the "Prince" is? Neville?

Excellent
Wow. Excellent description of Harry's death. I know she's not going to end it that way because of the genre she's writing. That being Good rules over Evil. But I like your take. Isn't fanfiction fun..
I heard the next book will be titled: "Harry Potter and the half-blood Prince." I can't wait for it to come out.
