Epic Adventures of Lady Gwendalyn (part 2)

Once in the Dragon Kings lair, Gwendalyn took notice of things. She knew now would be the chance to kill King Tarantula and end the ugly battle and return as heroine. But first she would enjoy breakfast, and see where he was most vulnerable. King Tarantula was also looking for her vulnerable spot, as he made a meal fit for a king. He watched as she tasted every new treat, seeing which she avoided and in which she delighted. To his dismay she did not partake of the dishes he had put a powder in. He wanted to make her sleep so that he could leave without so much fuss.

“Thank you King Tarantula for that fine meal. I hope that in time I might return the favor quite soon. But now we must discuss the matter of ending the battle between our peoples.” Lady Gwendalyn watched as the King turned his back, and slipped a knife into her purse. As soon as King Tarantula turned to face her, she leapt at his throat with the knife raised high; hoping that her steady arm would sink the knife deep. But the old Dragon had been waiting for something like this to happen. He had known that as soon as the talk turned to battle, the fearless young Lady would attack him at some point. He batted her aside, like a horse flicking his tail, and she flew across the dungeon, hitting the far wall. King Tarantula picked her up, knowing he had not killed her, and carried her out to the waiting nobles. “She is ours for the time. Let us leave this miserable land without further delay.” Off to their homeland the Dragons flew, the noble Lady in their clutches. They did not notice, at least for a while, the daring young Lord that was following them. When they did notice him, they made sure he could not attempt to rescue Lady Gwendalyn.

Lady Gwendalyn woke as soon as King Tarantula set her down in his majestic cave. “Why have you taken me?” she cried out. “I wanted the battle to end in peace!” “You are my Queen, now and forever. There will never be fighting between our peoples again,” the Dragon King replied.

It took our daring Lady several long months to think of a way to get back to her true love. She knew she would always be treated well by the Dragons, but she did not feel for them, or their King, as she felt for her one true love, Lord Amadeus. “My King, I simply must have a few days to speak to those of my kind. There are things I have left undone which should not have been left undone. Please take me home.”

King Tarantula agreed to this, for he hated to see his most prized Queen upset. They set off at once to calm her desires. It took a short time, much shorter than before. In no time, Lady Gwendalyn was reunited with the love of her life. The battle had ended many months ago, and no one had noticed her being absent, nor did they care. The two lovers spent every moment together, indulging in the most intimate pleasures that one could enjoy. Together they plotted to take down the old King.

Five days were gone far too quick, and the lovers parted without so much as a kiss. King Tarantula disliked being around many of the townspeople and demanded a hasty return. He whisked his Queen away in the night, returning by cover of dark.

Our fair Lady Gwendalyn was happy at first. She did as her King asked without so much as a whine. But that all changed the day she felt ill. No one, not even the Dragon’s own doctor, could figure out what might be ailing her. After three weeks of this, he was desperate and sent for someone from his Queen’s village. He came right fast, not wanting to die, and took Lady Gwendalyn to a private cave. What went on in there, only the two knew. The doctor gave instructions on how to care for her, and left right quick. With his mind relieved, King Tarantula set about making his Queen as comfortable as could be.

I agree with Queen of diamonds on all points. It could use just a wee bit more details, but not so much as to take away from the almost silly quality that it has. I'd like to see her reunited with Lord Amadeus, err, so that they could make beautiful music together. *laughs*

This story has a whimsical feel to it that makes it a lot of fun to read.

i want her to be with Lord Amadeus...*pout* silly dragon.

anyway, i'm still enjoying the storyline. the writing is pretty good, but i think that you could add in a little more detail. i'd like to be able to visualize this more than i am right now.

other than that, i like the fact that the main character is a nobody in the land that she came from. it makes it easier to identify with her.
