Chapter 15

"Oh my God are you okay?"6

The very first words I remember hearing.Soon I realized that I was lying on the hard linoleum of my kitchen floor.7

I rolled over onto my back to look up into my older brother's best friend Brett's face.8

"Uhhh... I think so, but what am I doing here?" I managed to mumble, right before I tried to stand up and was knocked over by a searing pain in my forehead.9

"I think that you took another one of the unconscious late night walks that you love so much. Unfortunately that's also exactly what Ziggy had in mind. But no fear Brett Richardson is here." He replied, of course not forgetting to mention how great he is disguising it as something a 15-year-old boy would say.10

And so without any hesitation, he reached down, put his hand right above my hips, and practically lifting me, put me back onto my feet. 11

Brett took my hand and led me over to one of the stools around the island in the middle of my kitchen."Jeez you  must have fallen pretty hard" he said looking at the open wound on my forehead, "You might need stitches."12

"Oh come on, stitches on my face will not  really help my reputation" i replied in disgust. "Jennica Mary Twiddle, Why is it that all you ever worry about is what other people think about you? The only thing that should matter to you is that you know that your a great person. Instead you waste your time worrying about what other people talk about. One day your going to meet someone who knows and likes you for who you really are." Brett said all of this looking at me as I were a puppy who had just relieved himself on his foot.13

"Brett I have to care. I just came to the high school and no one will even talk to me."14

"Jenn don't I always say hi to you and even start a conversation with you if there is enough time?" Now the expression on his face told me that he was going to try to be understanding.15

"Yeah, but its not enough. Now even Kenny my older brother doesn't even talk to me. So because of that no one else will either. I don't know, maybe they think that speaking to me would be disloyal to him." 16

Now Brett was sitting on a stool right across from me. "Jenn you know that's not true. You just have to be more open to people."17
