“What the...?” Sebastian swivelled around to face her. He had an odd expression on his face. It wasn’t contorted with rage- No it actually looked strangely calm, furiously serene in fact.
“Ugh!” He groaned. “You’re starting to annoy me now!” Suddenly Sara could here quick footsteps behind them. There were many footsteps, moving in time with each other and advancing on them. She turned from Sebastian and looked at their hunters. She could see big men in guard uniforms- They were police and they had dogs. They looked like Dobermans.
“RUN!” Sebastian shouted urgently. She didn’t need to be told twice. Sara started sprinting away. She felt dizzy and tired almost instantly. She was still under the influence of whatever it was that she had taken the night before with Sebastian. Finally they ran out into a gravelled courtyard. She looked around.
There were merely walls surrounding them on all sides.
“Come on!” Sebastian called to her. Sara was mystified. But then her gaze followed to where he was pointing: A wall with vines climbing up it.
“I’ll help you up! He said, and led Sara over.
“What? Aren’t you going up first? If you don’t you’ll be caught! I’ll help you!” She replied.
“I might not be caught. And anyway if I go up first then you’ll be caught! That isn’t going to happen!” he said through gritted teeth. Sara was perplexed. In this world the general rule was “Every man or himself”. Well not Seb. He pushed away his fair hair from his face and helped her grab onto some elevated vines. She managed to climb onto the top of the wall eventually and looked down. He was desperately trying to climb up quickly. The guards were walking over towards him slowly.
All of a sudden Sara knew why: He wasn’t going to make it. They had guns pointed at him and Sebastian slowly twisted around and leapt down the little space between him and the ground, aware of his fate.
Even so Sara didn’t agree with giving up. “What are you doing?” She screamed.
Sebastian didn’t answer. The dogs were let off their leashes. They pounced onto Sebastian and at the last minute he began to try to climb up the wall again in sheer panic.
“Sebastian!” Sara cried.
“Just run!” She heard and as she turned once more she saw flickers of blood, but not much as the dogs were blocking her view as the guards advanced to surround him. She wept silently but then felt a searing pain in her leg like she had just been stabbed with a thousand nails. She looked down, her vision blurry. She saw red. And then black. She felt a thump as she fell off the wall and her last smell was that of blood....
