could this really work? Chapter 5:

6:30 in the morning, Tyler was up and already fetching the first worm of the day. He was hustling and bustling around, picking up the rest of his belongings and putting them in their proper place in his suitcase. Nicole was soundly asleep underneath the covers, until her slumber was interrupted by Tyler’s Obsessive Compulsive Disorder for everything to be spic-n-span clean like the first day they got there.

“Tyler what in the name of God are you doing?” She muttered.

“Getting ready to start the day, and you should too, we have a flight to catch back to home sweet home Boston.” He replied

“Yeah in like seven hours. Now if you don’t mind I’d like to get some more sleep.” She grumbled.

“Too bad missy, we have to be at the airport in an hour. I exchanged our tickets for an earlier flight.” He explained. Her eyes shot open.

“You what?”

“Our flight goes back to Boston at 8:40.” He explained.

“Why?????” she whined.

“Cause I’m anxious to get home.” He retorted.

“Does this have anything to do with Jonathan?” She asked as she pushed back the bed spread.

“Who is this Jonathan, that you speak of?” He lied.

“You know who I’m talking about.” Nicole replied with anger in her voice.

“Nicole, at the beginning of this trip, I told you I was going to the strip clubs and do all the things guys do here, and you told me to remember who I was here with. It seems like that sentence doesn’t apply to me, but it pertains to you. I don’t see you at all the Friday we get here, I heard you sneak in Saturday morning, and then I see you being cradled in that jerk’s arms, and you were acting all in love with this guy. I’m pretty sure you forgot you were here with your boyfriend this weekend. The only boyfriend you’ve had ever since you’ve been at Lalaine Academy.” Tyler argued.

“Tyler, you said you always wanted me to be happy, and that was the main reason we are here in Vegas this weekend, So I could see my family. The family that dumped me at that strict ass academy, and wanted nothing to do with me. You knew how much I wanted to see them over these past six years and you knew that was the only thing that could make me happy, and I love you for that, you know I do. But it was one hundred percent completely unexpected that I met Jonathan.” Nicole exclaimed.

“Oh was it one hundred percent completely unexpected that you got horny and ended up his bed for a one night stand before you even knew the guy?” Tyler bickered. Nicole was astounded he would go so far as to say that about her. Then again it was true, as she began to rethink about the events that led to the relationship she has with Jonathan now. After calming down from the shock of the harsh words Tyler said, She sat him on the bed and cupped his hands in hers.

“Tyler I don’t get it why you’re mad, you think that Jonathan is going to replace that special place in my heart that is dedicated to you? Well you’re wrong, that place is reserved for you, as my closest guy friend, as my first love, and as somebody who I will always cherish but may not always be in love with.” She spoke softly.

“So what exactly does that mean?” he gritted his teeth.

“Tyler, you and I had a great run, and we had chemistry for a long time but it took a lot of time for that chemistry to blossom into something. Like a rose, it doesn’t stay alive forever.” She whispered.

“You don’t want to be my girlfriend anymore do you?” He asked.

“Tyler that’s not it, any girl is lucky enough for you to be her boyfriend. You care for her in the right way; you know all the secret tricks to make a girl fall in love with you. But Tyler, we’re only seventeen we don’t have to be all settled down and everything right after Lalaine Academy kicks us out into the real world.” She sighed.

“Don’t you think that’s what I wanted? I wanted someone I could love for the rest of my life and I wanted to find her now, and I thought I did find her.” He retorted.

“Tyler, maybe I wanted the same thing at the time we first started going with each other, but if I allow myself to always be kept on this small wave of excellence, I’ll only know that small wave of excellence. I won’t know if I can actually make it out there in the world, and right now that’s what I want.” She kissed his hand and held it next to her cheek. “Can you be mature enough to let me do this for myself?”

“Is there room for me in your new life?” He asked, putting finger quotation marks around ‘new’.

“Tyler I really don’t know. My first priority is wondering how to get out of this bubble that has been my safe haven since I was eleven.” She responded, shrugging her shoulders

“What brought this on?” He asked. She looked at him with painful eyes.

“Let’s not go there.” She picked up her black velour shorts and matching jacket, and marched into the bathroom to change. Tyler leaned back on the bed, covering his face with his large hands. He let out a huge sigh.

7:45 A.M. Nicole and Tyler were leaving for the airport, but she couldn’t leave until she saw Jonathan one last time. She knew he probably got drunk last night, and was still asleep. She wrote out a quick note on her personalized stationary, blankly stating that her flight was leaving early and she would hope to see him soon. She drew a little heart with angel wings and a halo in the bottom left corner and signed her name. While Tyler was checking out she raced up to Jonathan’s room; she knocked on the door but no answer. She finally taped the note to his door and sprinted for the elevator. She pushed the button for the elevator not realizing, that her sexy stranger was standing in the corner of the elevator room.

“I knew you couldn’t leave without saying goodbye.” He startled her.

“God, you almost gave me a heart attack.” She exhaled. He smirked and said sorry.

“I… um… taped a note to your door, telling you I was leaving.” She fumbled for words. He didn’t say anything, he moved closer to her, wrapping his arms around her waist like he did yesterday.

“How did you know I was leaving?” She asked, once she properly placed her arms around his neck.

“I overheard, whoever that guy is, that you’re with, talking to the concierge that he needed to exchange his plane tickets.” Jonathan replied.

“I really don’t want to go.” Nicole whispered.

“You have to get back to your school.” He said.

“I know.” She muttered.

“I’ll be in touch, you know that. We’ll figure out the distance issue later.” He assured her, as he kissed the top of her forehead. The elevator rang its chime and opened the door.

“Well this is my ride.” She murmured. She started to pull away from him, but he held onto her with all his strength. She smiled but she knew she couldn’t stay this way forever. The doors began to close again, but she pushed the button again to keep them open.

“This time I really have to go.” She insisted. He locked her beautiful brown eyes into a gaze then completed the heartfelt feeling with a mesmerizing kiss. Both of them feeling each other’s lip prints, and he feeling the tingling of her lip gloss. She lurched her shoulders forward giving her more height to reach him and make the kiss last longer. They broke apart and both mouthed ‘wow’ to each other. She stepped inside the elevator and slightly waved to him as the doors closed. Each of them hoping they would see each other soon.

This was a nice story. Thanks for entering it into my contest. I feel bad for Tyler I'd like to know what happens next between Nicole and Jonathan. Have you or do you plan to write more on it? It'd be interesting to read. Well, good job on this and good luck in the contest.
