UnSeelie Dreams XXIII

A hint of amusement touched Lily’s face as she glanced down at him kneeling before her. He bared his teeth but didn’t dare move a muscle as Coda tested him. Why not leave him to Coda for a while, she mused as she turned to the lake to wash off the remnants of her meal.

She pondered as she gazed beyond the horizon. The journey would be dangerous for them both once they reached the portal. Lily ignored the anger radiating from her new ward. He was in no danger from her or the pack now that he belonged to her. All for her, she grinned. Water dripped from her face as she pushed her dark main out of her face. She rose with a purpose, intending to see how far she could push him or shatter him.

A sense of dread filled him as he watched her prowl toward him. Her eyes held a glimmer of mischief as she smiled knowingly at his predicament. Sharp canines flashed against full lips. How could a creature be terrible and beautiful? he wondered. She was slender and petite yet so very powerful. A shiver ran down his spine as she knelt down facing him. He cast a glance to the side of her not daring to stare too long into her eyes.

She reached out to carefully caress the nape of his neck, her hands pushing into the silky strands of his hair grabbing and pulling just enough to force his head back. Slowly she leaned over to nuzzle his throat, her sharp teeth scraping along his pulse point. His breath caught in fear yet his body reacted instinctively with desire. Her hot mouth tenderly grazed him as she sent her velvety tongue up the pounding vein and then playfully nipped his ear lobe.

She pushed back on her heels and stood up absolutely enjoying the startled expression on his face. “Play time is over. Release him, Coda.” The wolf quickly detached from his arm and sat back on its haunches still intently watching his every movement.

Lily wrinkled her nose at him. He burned with a heady mix of desire, fear, and anger. She walked on past him without a glance back to see if he would follow. The pack trailed around her as she headed away from the lake.

He sat in stunned silence. The blood soaked carcass lay half in and half out of the water. The freshly torn flesh just was not registering with him. Shaking his head to clear it from the red haze of anger and humiliation filling him, he glared at Lily in defiance.

Hurry, you must follow Lily.

The parasite urged him on relentlessly, not allowing him to sit and stew. A mist rolled across the field swirling around the wolves and their leader. Her laughter mocked him as he rushed after them trying his best to catch up. He grew sick inside at the thought of loosing sight of them.

“Lily, wait, please.” He panted as the mists moved further away.
