The Condensed Version of God's Plan

In Indiana during the Gulf War, Roger Corris received the condensed version of God’s Plan in the mail. There was no return address on the envelope and there was no explanation included to clarify as to why the Plan had been sent to his address. Roger Corris opened the envelope and found the following inside:

"William Shakespeare was not born in order to write plays, as some have speculated. Instead, the sole reason for his existence was to give alms to a beggar on the side of the road while he was walking home from the tavern one summer night. With that money, the beggar was able to afford the company of a tavern wench and thus guarantee that Harrison Ford would eventually be born."

As to why this was important, the Plan didn’t say, for beneath that paragraph the paper had torn off. Unfortunately, any further information on Harrison Ford and his importance to the universe was lost.

Later that day, the letter was thrown out with the rest of Roger Corris’ junk mail. The condensed version of God’s Plan has never been seen since.

Author notes

I wrote this as a little story to put into Christmas cards. Instead of Harrison Ford, the plan was to insert the card recepient's name in his place.

Unfortunately, one of my friends is Chinese. No possible way that she could have English relatives. My great christmas card plan was ruined and I gave up on the entire idea. I gave out candy canes instead.

Alas.

Oh! Please also note that: Harrison Ford is awesome. Even when he turns 93 and is STILL doing action flicks, I'll always remember him as Indiana Jones and that president who fought terrorists on an airplane. He's just that great.

Yeah. I'm an atheist, but I've thought about how the simpilist of actions can impact the future

This was pretty cool. I really enjoyed reading this true too, because even the simplist little gesture is in God's huge plan. Awesome story. Thanks for entering. Good luck. God Bless!

Ah, I remember this little story. You put my name in at one point, I think. Hee. I still like it.

You could have substituted some famous Chinese playwright for Yiwei's card. I don't know of any though. Oh well.
