A question was all that was needed to unsettle his river of thoughts, the curious little girl that was tugging on his trouser leg; managed to hold his attention for a moment, where he only answered his question and continued to ignore her. 1
But question after question, those words that flowed endlessly out of her mouth, surrounded him like water and drowned him until he could stand no more. After several quiet moments where she ran out of questions to ask, he replied to all she had asked, “I don’t know.” 2
That reply left her confused; she held her teddy bear close to her and started scratching her head, where she replied"But daddy, mummy says that you know a lot.” 3
The man chuckled and proceeded to lie down on the green, wet grass. He simply closed his eyes and said three words that changed her life: Find out yourself. 4
Years later, when the girl was an orphan, she still heeded her father’s words because they held a great importance only she knew. The girl was walking alone in the ruins of the city’s giant buildings, scavenging like a vulture, looking for trinkets that would gain her enough food for when she was hungry. 5
She heaved debris and rocks out of her way as she spied a glimmer of light, she eagerly grabbed the nearest lever and started to push, and she grabbed the small stones and ran off to the nearest gem trader wondering what her gems were worth. 67
The gem dealer looked carefully at her stones and pushed them back to her, shaking his head and nodded for the next person to come forward. Her heart sank as she turned around and walked away. 89
“Yo, Lisanna!” Cried Cedric. She raised her head to meet his soft blue-gray eyes and stared blankly into them. 1011
He grabbed her wrist and shoved a small object inside. She bowed her head to see what it was. 1213
“Run, THEY are coming.” He whispered coldly into her ear. Her green-gray eyes meet his cold blue ones. 1415
She blinked her eyes, proving she understood. 1617
The time had come. 1819
The signal was here.20
