I was told a story about a young woman with a small baby, this wasn't many years after the bombs fell. She would take her child on a walk down this old torn up street in a city once called Saskatoon, she would take the child on this walk everyday as his father would do before the bombs fell. She would end up at the end of the street eventually where she would carefully cross over into the old parking lot of some shopping centre, but there was only one building of interest to her. Its sign was faded, and you could barely make out the words on it now. Most say it read "Sarcan Recycling centre" or something like that. No one can really be sure these days. It was here in this building that the father of her child had worked for so long, she brought the child here so that he would know a part of his fathers life before he had disappeared. They say she would wheel the babe into the building, struggling with the old glass doors and there they would stay for a time and she would tell the babe of his father and what he would do here. After some time had past she would give the baby a tour of the building as she always would, all the while paying close attention should anyone pay notice to them as she held little to protect herself and the babe. Every once in a while these trips would prove fruitful for them as there was much to be scavenged from these buildings, particularly in the form of bottle caps, a bottle form of wasteland currency as you know. Though much of it had been taken by now, mmm yes so once the daily routine was complete they would head back home leaving out the back of the building, the walk home was not too far for them, it was maybe 5 blocks away the house they choose to inhabit was the same house the father lived in so long ago back when things were better, back before the bombs fell. No one rightfully knows what became of these days, there are a few tales going around about this part. Some say they formed a scavenging team that would venture throughout the city and surrounding areas to find things to bring back to make repairs to what they could to help rebuild the city, others say they headed out east to find what had become of the father and a few say they were ambushed by raiders in that very building and their story met a tragic end. I myself am a believer that they headed out east, don't ask me why, but that's just what my gut tells me and my gut never lies. Well this is it for now, need to conserve the batteries in this thing, til next time folks. Watch yourself out there, you never know what you'll run into out there in this fucked up world of ours.
