Episode V - The Hurricane
Preparation: 1 hour remaining
“Got it.” Said Ash. He bowed slightly, then turned for the exit, then Professor Simpson spoke again, "Ash! We forgot to tell you, now, this is important." He lowered his voice as he spoke.
Ash looked at the smart face, which was now pale. "Ash, Corey, he got loose, and we think he might go after Caroline during the storm."
Ash stared at the Dean, then turned and walked out off the door. He turned on the radio with one hand and turned to channel 6. He walked down the hallway and hastily shoved the keys into his pocket.
“This is Cochran, I’ll report when I reach the boys’ dormitories.” Said Ash into the radio.
“Right, be careful Ash.” Said the voice of Professor Demoons. Ash pushed open the doors and stepped out into the calmness behind the building. The sky was now dark, but the rain hadn’t started yet.
He sighed and walked out of the shadow, almost being blown over, and ran to the boys dorm. Running with the wind, he reached it in no time, and almost ran through the double doors.
With much effort, he pushed into the main hall and sighed a sigh of relief.
“Right, I’m in.” he said into the radio.
“Good!” said the reply instantly, “Right, Ash, do you see the security door which says ‘authorized access only’?”
Ash looked at the door he had never seen anybody enter or exit, it had a card swipe to enter. “Yeah.” He replied.
“You will find all you need in there, now, when the hurricane hits, we will loose the radio, so there is a phone line that travels through underground wires, we can talk on that. This phone will also communicate to every other building in the academy.”
“Right.” Said Ash swiping the card and opening the door.
“Also, You can activate or de-activate the emergency generator from in there. Now, I wills till be here, but we have much work to do to prepare, so you’re on your own, kid. Good luck.”
“Thank you, you too Professor.” Ash walked into the small room and set his radio down on the small table. He looked around, there was a computer on a desk, a keyboard with many different buttons and lights, and a telephone.
He walked over to the telephone and picked it up, he pressed the “intercom” button.
“Good Evening everybody, I am Ash Cochran,” he started, “President of Student Council. We have a slight situation on our hands. I ask you all for complete corporation, and that you pay careful attention to the following announcements. Anybody who is not listening, please start listening now.
“As I previously said, we have a slight situation on our hands, and I ask for all students to cooperate. The school’s staff has now been reduced to seven, and I have been put in charge of the dormitories. This is no joke. Now, I ask that all students open their dormitory doors, and leave them wide open. I will walk down the hallway momentarily checking for any closed doors. I have been authorized to open any door at will.
“I also ask that students respect one another’s privacy at this time, any intruders will be prosecuted, there are rooms in this building that I can lock you in. That is not a threat, it is a promise. I will continue to announce further on throughout the evening. I have one last announcement for now; would all student council members please report to the security room near the main entrance. Thank you.”
Ash put down the phone and went to examine the keyboard more closely. There were quite a few buttons, but the ones that were most prominent were the “lock down building”, “lock down windows”, “backup generator”, and “main generator”.
A sound behind him made him turn around, it was the arrival of Daniel Keener, the Secretary. “Ah, hello Daniel, one of twelve to arrive.” Said Ash.
“Oh, no, not just me, here’s some more.” Sure enough, representatives Robert Boland, Thomas Bator, Matthew Chaiko, Ian McGlory, Michael Elliott, and Daniel Elliott arrived behind Daniel Keener.
Ash did a quick count, “Hmm, we’re missing Wierzbicki, Tyler Wagner, Todd Toso, Cory Pfeifer, and Dylan Levan, who I fully expected to be here..” He said.
Daniel Keener walked out into the hallway, “Dylan is in the hospital, but I don’t see the others, and they should be here by now.”
Ash frowned, “This is extremely important, you guys just wait for a moment.” Ash walked back to the phone anc picked up, after pressing the intercom button, he spoke. “Alec Wierzbicki, Tyler Wagner, Todd Toso, Cory Pfeifer, report to the security door by the main entrance immediately.”
He picked up a post-it note and pencil, and wrote the names down.
“Here’s Tyler Wagner, Todd Toso, and Cory Pfeifer, but Bicki isn’t here yet.” Said Daniel Keener.
Ash nodded. “Right, guys, Wierzbicki will be in trouble. Now. You guys know what’s happening?”
The guys nodded, “You understand that all that’s stopping two thousand five hundred boys from getting out of control is us?”
The guys nodded, quiet hesitantly, “Okay, there are two radios here, Daniel Keener and Ian McGlory will each have one.” Ash tossed the two radios he had found to Ian and Daniel. “You guys are to walk down the hallways, do exactly as I tell you to. I will be telling commands to Ian and Daniel through the radios, and I will use the intercom. You guys need to keep order in the building during the hurricane.”
The guys murmured their understanding. “Any questions?”
Ian raised his hand, “Where are the teachers?”
“The seven remaining are in various places doing various jobs, but the others have gone home.”
Thomas Bator raised his hand, “What’s in it for us?” a few of the boys laughed.
“It’s not funny Thomas.” Said Ash sternly.
Thomas looked down. “Okay, if there’s no more questions, I need to go and update the girls." The guys nodded and walked back down the hallway, talking importantly. Ian stayed behind. “Ian,” Said Ash, “whenever I’m not in the building, you’re in-charge. Understand?”
“Yes.” Said Ian.
Ash picked up the phone again and made another announcement, “Student Council is in charge of the building, I ask that you obey, and respect them. Whenever I am not in the building, Ian McGlory is in charge.”
Preparation: 30 minutes remaining
Ash walked with his head down, against the strong winds towards the Girls’ dormitories. Muttering curses against nature under his breath, he pushed through until he had finally reached the shadow of the dorms.
He ran the remaining distance to the stairs, up, and threw himself through the door. Stopping, he looked around. He had never been in the girls’ dorms after 9:00 before, besides the time with Corey, and it was now 9:30.
He turned to look at the security door, but was surprised to find that the red light that meant the door was locked, was now green. Without knowing what to expect, he opened the door and…
“Jen!” he screamed. The girl sitting in a toga in the centre of the room looked up with a look of pure horror.
“Close the door!” she yelled. Ash looked from her to the fire in the middle of the room in the lid of a trash-can.
“Why did you light a fire?” asked Ash.
“Close the door d**n it!” she said angrily. Ash pushed the door closed and turned back to the fire.
“Jen, put that fire out, now! This is very important, I need this room.” Jen nodded and threw a second trash-can lid over the fire.
“Jen, don’t leave, just hide that, this is important.” Jen nodded again and put the remains of the fire in a cabinet under the desk. The little room was identical to the one in the boys’ dorms.
Jen stood up in her toga and looked nervously at Ash. “Jen, the hurricane will hit, and student council is in charge.” Said Ash. Jen nodded, “Okay, well, it’s me, and you, that’s in charge. I’m in charge of the boys’ dorms, duh, and you’re in charge of the girls’.”
Jen nodded again, “Why me?”
“Because you’re the president of the dance committee.” Ash picked up a spare radio, switched to the right channel, and handed it to her.
Jen nodded as Ash walked over to the intercom. He picked up the phone, punched the button, and took a deep breath.
"Hello Girls, listen up." Ash looked at Jen whose eyes were really big. Ash took a breath and continued. "Would all student council members please report to the security room near the main door, immediately. This is extremely important. Those who do not come risk being thrown out of Student Council. Thank you.”
Ash put down the phone and looked gravely at Jen. Jen turned around as Olivia Gierlich, Vice President, and Rachel Kiefer, Headmaster’s Reporter, ran around the corner and into Jen.
Jen fell to the floor and Ash started to laugh. Unlike the guys, everybody showed up, almost all of them were wearing Pajamas or tank tops and boxers. Ash looked at the crowd, all the accessories were here: Kelly Donkin in 7th grade, Rebecca Garry and Elizabeth Elliott from 8th grade, and Maggie Wu, Rachel O’Brien, Ashleigh Kockel, Haley Kragness from Newspaper, Erin Hesser from the dance, Brittany Moyer, and Samantha Graybill.
Among the Accessories were mixed in the girls’ representatives, Rochelle Mitzel, Hannah Kreider, Tatum Colitz, Jessica Clark, Kathleen Cescon, Farha Ali, Aubri Charnigo, and Olivia Brown.
Ash smiled at them all, trying to ignore the fact that they were all half dressed. “Girls, we have a problem.”
He looked at Jen and smiled. “The hurricane will hit the school, and student council is in charge. The teachers are gone, so we’re alone now. It’s our school, and we’re taking it back.”
Some of the girls laughed, “This is no laughing matter, I already spoke to the guys dorms… and if you don’t believe me, look at what room we’re in. It’s the one that you need a security card to get into.” Ash held up the card.
The girls stopped laughing. “Now, Jen Uspal, as president of the dance committee, is in charge of the girls’ dorms.” He nodded to the girl in the toga, who blushed.
“Now, I have to get back to the boys’ dorms, there is a phone here, the intercom button is the intercom, the “B” button is for the boys’ dorms. The phone runs off of a generator when the power is out, and goes through wires underground, the generator comes on naturally, I want someone always in this room. Got it? Good.” The girls nodded, and Jen walked forward.
As Ash rummaged through the closet, the girls talked, “Girls, looks like we’re kinda screwed, well; I know I’m not student council, but I ask you listen to me.” Said Jen.
Ash pulled out the radios and put them on the table. “Right, Olivia Gierlich, Rachel Kiefer, and I will take these, since we’re officers. You guys walk down the halls, have every door opened. I want every door to stay open, and keep people away from the windows.” All the girls left, leaving Ash and Jen alone in the room.
Ash looked at Jen, whose eyes twinkled slightly. “Jen,” he began, “there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you.” Jen looked around, and then nodded. “Jen, I should have told you this a while ago; but, I have a crush on you.”
Jen smiled, and kissed him on the cheek. “Ash,” she said, “don’t like me that way, ignore those feelings.”
Ash nodded gravely, and stepped out through the door, where he met his best friend, Kelly Donkin. “Ash!” she said sternly, “Caroline has another guy with her now, Jake.”
“Jake who?” asked Ash.
“Jake, from the other school.”
No time to waste
Ash sighed and shifted the one thing he had taken from the closet onto his shoulders. He looked into Kelly's eyes, then kissed her. "If anything happens to you, I'll never let myself live with it."
He pushed passed her and out into the storm. A loud noise told him that the rain had started to fall, but the building was shelter for now. He pulled the rope off of his shoulder and put it on the floor. Picking up one end, he tied it tightly to a pillar, then he tied the other end around his waist.
He looked once back through the doors; Kelly was still standing there looking at him sadly. Putting her out of his mind, he ran out into the storm as fast as he could.
He ran over the last few yards of dry ground, and was slammed face first onto the muddy ground. The wind was picking up, and he struggled to get onto all fours. The wind pushed him down again. Cursing, he clambered back up and started painfully forward.
Step by Step, he pressed onward towards the blurry lights of the boys’ dorms. The rain pelted his back, and his legs ached from keeping him upright. His glasses slipped, but Ash pushed them back onto his face.
The boy crawled along the ground, as fast as he could with the wind, until he could go no further, then rolled over onto his back. Keeping his hands on his glasses, he sat and waited. But nothing resulted from that, but the situation got worse.
The wind picked up, and the rain came down harder, twigs started to pelt him. He was about to start moving again, when he let out a cry of pain.
* *
Kelly looked out into the rain sadly, when she had refused to leave the exit, Jen had assigned her to stand guard over the security room. It had now been half an hour since Ash left, and the lights were beginning to flicker. There had been no talk between the two dorms at all.
Finally feeling exasperated, she walked into the room and picked up the phone, she pressed the “B” button. The phone rang for a few seconds, before somebody finally picked up. It was Daniel Keener. “Keener here, Ash?” asked the boy.
“No,” Kelly’s stomach dropped, Ash hadn’t arrived at the boys’ dorms, “No, Ash isn’t there?”
There was an awkward pause, “No, we thought he was still at the girls’ dorms.”
Kelly didn’t know what to say, finally she said, “oh, okay, bye.” She put the phone down, then without thinking, picked it up again and hit “intercom”. “Jen!” she said, “get down here at once, and also, we need some student council members, eh, all the Reps, just come.”
Breathing quickly, she put the phone down, when suddenly the room went pitch black. The power failed, and there was a beep as the generator kicked into life; but, the few seconds of no light was all it took for someone to sneak in through the doors and down the hallway.
The blue electric lights cast an eerie glow on the girls as they rushed into the room, Jen in the lead. “Kelly, what’s wrong?” asked Jen, clutching a stitch in her site.
Kelly pointed at the main entrance, as if she could see it through the wall. Jen looked where she pointed, “It’s Ash, he left half an hour ago, but never arrived at the boys’ dorms…” Jen ran and pushed the double doors and pushed them open. She called out into the rain, but the wind and rain drowned her words out.
“Ash tied that rope to him before leaving.” Said Kelly. Immediately, the crowd rushed forward and out the door. Kelly walked on wobbly legs and watched the girls start to pull on the rope. After a few pulls, the rope went taunt. “Okay, we have him, kinda, now pull!” Cried Jessica Clark.
The girls pulled frantically, and one thought flashed into Kelly’s mind, “If anything happens to you, I'll never let myself live with it." A tear rolled down her cheek. Suddenly, her legs gave way and she fell to the ground, nobody noticed, but she just watched the girls pull on the rope.
Her heart broke suddenly when the shape of someone being dragged along the ground appeared. The girls pulled him in quicker than ever and ran out to untie the rope. They carried him up into the dorms, a limp hand dropped down as they carried him passed. More tears squeezed through as she looked at the drops of blood on the floor.
An Unexpected Meeting
Missy threw the cigarette down into the ash tray and breathed out the smoke. She looked at Sarah, who was playing with a pocked knife. “Where is he?” she demanded.
Sarah looked up from the knife, “Wot? You think I know? I don’t know nothing about nothing, oh my god, this is so much like that one time when you were accusing me of banging that one kid, when I ain’t got nothing to do with him…”
“Whateva’” said Missy. She looked out of the windows. “Pass another pack Sarah, mine is out.”
Sarah sighed and rummaged through her pocket, she threw a pack at Missy who started to open it. But she had barely attacked the wrapping when there was a nock on the door. Sarah got up and walked over to it, she opened it and looked at Brittany Moyer. “Yeah? Wot is it?”
Brittany smiled warily, “Jen wants you to keep your door open.” Sarah stared for a few moments, then slammed the knife into the door. Brittany took a few steps backwards in alarm, as Sarah slammed the door.
Missy looked up from her cloud of smoke. “B***h.” She said. Sarah snorted and walked over to the drawer and pulled out a sharper knife to play with.
She sat down on the bed and started to carve swastikas into the cover of her Science text book. “That girl is gonna get it one day.” Said Missy.
“What time is it?” asked Sarah suddenly.
Putting the cigarette down in the ash tray, Missy pulled out an old, broken watch, “10:05,” she said, “do we really have to go to the tree at midnight?”
Sarah looked at Missy, but another nock on the door distracted her. She scowled and threw the knife, which stuck blade first into it. “F**k off!”
There came the noise of feet scrambling away from the door, maybe the tip of the knife had burst through, either way, Sarah didn’t care. “D**n it Missy, I told you, yes!” She said it as if it was common knowledge.
Missy opened her mouth to complain, but Kelly came on the intercom, she sounded sad, or scared. “Oh, good, tell me someone died.” Said Sarah.
Almost as soon as Kelly was done, the lights all went out. Sarah felt around for something to throw. “F**k.” she said. But she didn’t wait long, because the emergency lights kicked in almost immediately.
Missy smiled and took a long puff on the cigarette, “not long now.” She said.
Sarah got off the bed, threw her demented textbook onto the floor. “Where the f**k is he?”
Missy choked on the smoke, “How the h**l am I supposed to know?”
Sarah shrugged, when there came a nock on the door. Sarah looked at it and smiled, “About time.” She stood up and walked over to it, looking through the peep-hole, she eyed a friendly face.
The door opened slowly, and someone walked in, making sure to stay in the shadows. Sarah closed the door and watched the boy walk around the edge of the room. “I no longer need to go to the tree at midnight.” He said, shaking rain water onto the floor. Sarah looked at Missy, who shrugged.
“Why not?” asked Sarah.
The boy laughed, “Hah! This is why!” There was a loud thud as something long landed on the floor. Missy let out a screech of laughter, “You did that? Excellent! So they’re both here? Where?”
The boy laughed again, “In the recreation room.”
He started to move towards the door, but Missy stopped him, “Here,” she handed him a pack of cigarettes, “take these.”
The boy tried to push them back, “I don’t…”
Missy smiled, “neither does she.” The boy started to laugh a long, low, sinister laugh.
Mingling with Fate
Jake shifted his position on the couch and stared out the window into the storm. Beside him, Caroline yawned. “Tired?” asked Jake.
“No f**k.” said Caroline laughing. Jake smiled. He looked at the other couch, where a boy was lying under a blanket.
He looked up at the dim, electric light and sighed. “I wish the lights would come back on.” Said Caroline suddenly.
“You read my mind, babe.” Said Jake. Caroline shifted, and put her head on his shoulder, Jake rested his head on hers. “I actually wish this d**n storm would end.”
“Watch your language.” Said another voice. Jake smiled as Kelly Donkin walked in and sat down on the floor, resting against the other couch. “Ash said anything?” Jake looked at the boy on the couch.
“Does it look like it?” he asked.
Kelly sighed, “No. You know, it doesn’t actually look like a branch of anything hit him.” She stood up and gently lifted a bandage off of Ash’s head, “If you ask me, I’d say he was a…” She stopped in mid sentence and swung around to look into the darkness that the electric lights didn’t penetrate.
“Was a…?” asked Caroline.
Kelly shook her head, “I thought I saw something move in the shadows.” She looked into the darkness at a statue of someone holding a sword. “Over by that statue.” Jake moved Caroline’s head off of his shoulder and looked around into the darkness.
“I see nothing.” He said. Kelly turned back to Ash and looked at the wound again, “It looks more like something metal hit him.”
Jake laughed, “It’s a hurricane out there, it could have blown the metal at him.” Kelly nodded and looked at her reflection in the mirror again. She looked at where the statue was and screamed. Swinging around, she stared back at the statue. “I swear I saw something move over there.” She said frantically.
Jake turned around and looked into the darkness, “You know Kelly, I can’t even see a statue.”
Caroline suddenly looked up from the screen of her iPod and looked at Kelly with big eyes. “Statue?” Kelly’s eyes suddenly got big too, “Kelly! There isn’t a statue in here.”
With sudden recognition, Kelly realized that the statue was staring back at her, and it was smiling. Kelly let out a loud, ear piercing scream, and the statue started to laugh. “It took you long enough.” The statue stepped towards the group, Jake jumped to his feet. “Oh, hello Jake.” Said the statue Mockingly.
Jake pushed Caroline behind him and stared at the person. “What the f**k do you want?” The statue person laughed again and revealed himself from the shadow. “Corey!” said Caroline suddenly.
Corey looked at her and smiled, “Hello, Love.”
Jake glared at him, “She’s mine, f****r!”
Corey smiled cynically, “Not for long.” Kelly backed towards the shadows. “Now now Kelly, we all know you’re there, love, so no need to try and hide from us.”
Jake backed away, keeping Caroline safe behind him. “You know you can’t do anything, one scream and more people will come.”
Corey took a step forward and smiled, “Ah, but that’s where you’re wrong, you see, any moment now there should be another scream, or something, and I’ll be clear to do whatever I want. Kelly!” Caroline risked turning her head to look at Kelly, who had tried to make a run for the shadows.
At that moment, Jen Uspal’s voice came onto the intercom, “Would all who can help please report to the west wing? There is a riot in process.” She sounded frantic, and the message was clearly rushed.
The three all looked at Jake who smiled and held up a blood stained crowbar. “Well girls, and of course, Jake, shall we begin?” Corey took a step forward, and Jake took a step back. Suddenly, out of nowhere, someone slammed into Corey, knocking him off of his feet.
“What the f**k?” said Corey and Jake at once.
“Peterson?” said Caroline suddenly, looking at the dazed boy staggering away from Corey.
Corey hopped to his feet and swung the crowbar at Peterson who screamed and ducked. Taking advantage of the distraction, Jake leaped over the couch and landed next to Corey. Corey turned and looked at Jake, who smiled back.
Without warning, all three boys punched at once, Corey ducked, slamming the Crowbar into Peterson below the belt, Peterson’s punch hit Jake in the face, while Jake’s missed completely. Peterson let out a howl of pain, and fell to his knees.
“Ooh, that’s gonna hurt.” Said Caroline, forgetting about the fight. Kelly pulled on Caroline's sleeve and nodded towards the door. Caroline nodded back.
They both took a step towards the door, when a large, chubby, smoked hand covered each of their mouths and pulled them tight. "Well girls," whispered someone in their ears, "you're mingling with fate now."
Eye of the Storm
Kelly and Caroline tried to pull away from the hands, but they just ended up loosing energy as they were pulled into the shadows. Kelly spotted Missy and Sarah sitting in the shadow on the other side of the room. Kelly tried to point this out to Caroline, but the hand just got tighter.
The hand pulled them out into the hall and towards the main entrance. As they were about to enter a room, The owner of the hand let out a loud scream and let go. Not prepared for the sudden freedom, Kelly fell to the ground, beside her, Caroline spat out a small piece of skin and blood. “Run Kelly!” she screamed. Kelly scrambled to her feet and ran towards the door. Caroline beat her to it, and ran out, but Kelly hesitated and turned to look at the person they’d just left behind.
Kelly gasped, “Jen?” she cried.
Jen looked up from her bleeding hand and started to cry. “I was just getting you away from the fight.”
Kelly ran over to her, and looked at her hand. “You should have said it was you.” Hearing a scream from outside, she looked at the door. “Caroline!” The two girls ran to the door and looked out into the darkness, nothing. In the security room beside them, the phone started to ring.
Jen walked over to it, and looked at Kelly, “Can you get it? My hand…” Kelly nodded and walked over to the phone and picked it up. “Yes?” she asked.
“Kelly,” said the voice of Daniel Keener, “what’s going on up there? It’s all fine down here, but we lost power, and the emergency generator is faulty.”
Kelly smiled, “at least the boys aren’t doing any better than us, they have their own problems.” She thought. “Hah, we’re not doing much better, there’s a riot going on.”
On the other end of the line, Daniel gasped, “What on earth?”
Kelly looked at Jen’s hand and shivered, “Yeah, a riot, and get someone to look out the door, Caroline ran out into the storm.”
“Right, we’re on it.” Said Daniel, and hung up. Kelly put the phone down and looked at Jen. “Jen,” she said, “Loose some weight, your hand felt chubby, I thought it was Missy, until I saw her with Sarah.”
Jen smiled and held up some old bandages. “Don’t play with fire, it hurts.” Kelly smiled and looked out the window. “I hope Caroline is okay.”
Jen put her hand on Kelly’s shoulder and smiled, “She’s tough, I’d be more concerned about Peterson’s nuts, they got a good wack.”
Kelly giggled and walked out into the hallway. Somewhere, there was a riot going on, outside, there was a storm blowing, but it seemed calm in the hell way. “It’s the eye of the storm.” She said.
Jen looked up from where she had been examining the bite mark, “No it’s not, it’s still blowing outside.”
What Jen had just true, but Kelly turned to look at her, “No, it’s the eye, come into the hallway and you will see, it’s calm out here.”
The Stalker, the Boyfriend, and the Addict
Peterson looked up from his spot on the floor and wiped the tears out of his eyes. Jake and Corey were taking swings at each other, the crowbar laid forgotten by the couch. The two had been fighting for ten minutes, while Peterson had sat crying and rubbing himself, trying to bring back feeling to his legs.
Jake let out another cry and fell to his knees, Corey grabbed a chair, but Jake was up again, and kicked it away. Peterson looked at the crowbar, then looked back at Jake. “I have to do something” he thought.
Carefully, he reached for the crowbar. Corey was distracted by Jake, and the room was empty. His fingers wrapped around the crowbar, he smiled. Suddenly, he felt all the air leave his body and his chin slammed into the floor.
Looking up, past the stars and tears, he saw Sarah sitting on his back smiling. “Going somewhere?” she asked.
With a sudden burst of energy, Peterson swung the crowbar around and hit her in the stomach, she screamed and rolled over backwards. Peterson stood up and jumped over the seat. The scream had detached Corey from his fight with Jake, and the two boys were stood still watching him.
Loosing his grip, Peterson slipped off the couch and fell to the floor, the crowbar landed on his leg with a loud crunch. Both Jake and Corey started to laugh hysterically, holding onto each other for support.
Peterson felt the tears burn in his eyes, as he stared at the two enemies, who were now acting like best friends, he picked up the crowbar and threw it as hard as he could at Corey.
There was a crunch, stars filled Peterson’s eyes, and he fell over sideways, another scream told him that the crowbar had hit target perfectly. He heard someone say “What the h**l?” It was probably Jake.
Forcing his eyes open, Peterson looked up at Missy. “Good aim, f****r!” she said, Peterson turned his eyes to look at Corey, who was standing, looking stunned at Jake, who was rolling over clutching his side, the crowbar lay on the floor, forgotten again.
“Come on, idiot, it wasn’t that funny!” said Corey, and he kicked Jake below the belt. The Peterson looked at Jake crying on the floor, then looked at Jake and Missy, his thoughts jumped to Caroline, he looked around for her and Kelly.
“I hope you’re not here to see this.” He thought, then jumped to his feet, slamming his head straight into Missy’s stomach. Missy fell over backwards, as the boy staggered backwards; he looked at Corey who was smiling. “I took him down, with your help, now your turn.” Said the boy as he picked up the crow bar.
He slapped it against his hand, and looked at the fat lump that was currently lying on the floor clutching its stomach. “Pitiful thing, though, I won’t be saying that about her after I deal with you.”
Peterson stepped forward towards Corey, “Do all you want, I’m not afraid, and Caroline likes me more than you.” At this, Corey leapt towards him, and swung the crowbar at the back of Peterson’s legs.
With a cry of pain, he fell to his knees and looked up at Corey. ”Well, not for long she can’t, not if I take you out of the picture.” The boy raised the crowbar, and Peterson closed his eyes.
“Goodbye, wait, what the h**l?” Peterson opened his eyes, and saw Mary and Megan, Caroline’s best friends, holding onto Corey. Out of nowhere, Tara Johnston, another of Caroline’s best friends, ran up and kicked him in the nuts. Corey fell to the ground.
Katay Sims walked up to Peterson and pulled him to his feet, he fell right back down again. “I can’t,” he said, “my legs.”
Aubri Charnigo walked over and helped Katay pick him up again. “Where did you all come from?” said Peterson.
Aubri laughed, “As soon as Jen told us the riot was a diversion, we all came over. If you had looked behind you, you would have seen that we had taken Sarah… Missy slipped through, we got Corey just in time.”
Peterson laughed at his sudden change of luck, and allowed himself to be pulled along into the hallway. “Besides, the storm isn’t as bad anymore.” Almost as soon as Aubri had finished talking, all the lights turned back on, and the TV in the corner burst into life.
