The sun beats down upon you.
Sweltering heat engulfs.
Sweat glistens on your skin.
A reprieve, you do pray for.
Shadows cast upon the ground,
growing with each passing minute.
A glance above, tells you why.
Clouds are forming, blotting out the sun.
The sky darkens as clouds roll in.
Thunder crashes - lightening strikes.
You stand, enthralled at the power it holds.
The storm releases its deluge.
Droplets begin to fall, slowly at first - one after the other.
With gathering speed, droplets turn to a barrage.
The cleansing force has you basking in its glory.
Your prayer answered, a reprieve granted.
Washing out the old - bringing in the new.
Life is its offspring, freedom its essence.
Joyous reunion between mother and child.
Nature’s nectar - giver of life
Please tell me what you think

Good
I can almost feel the rain and the storm as I read this. Unfortunately, we have had so much rain here lately that I am tired of it. We needed it, but we have had rain now for about two weeks. We need a break. Good poem.

Reprieve means to get a break from...enthralled means one is in awe of...barrage means to be bombarded I guess is a good word to describe it. engulf means to be overtaken or surrounded, sweltering means very hot, and deluge means down pour.
