Ali’s eyes blink rapidly, ready to rest. Her chocolate-brown eyes under the raspberry red and brown striped glasses finally close. Her history teacher doesn’t seem to notice the sleeping girl upon the desk in the back left corner. Ali’s face is hidden behind her classmate. 1

Starting a wonderful day-dream, the slim edge of her mouth curves slightly up toward the ceiling, smiling. Ali dreamt of a cloud, blurred with a red-golden color from the sunset, at the high part of the evergreens. It carried her up the top of the paved clouds above the highest point of land from the earth. She saw the most beautiful beach, with a sea that fell to a waterfall that descended to the deepest part of the earth’s surface. The beach’s edge simply started at the end of the carefully softened, straight crust of silk-like land. The cloud transported her body to the edge of the path to the beach. Ali walked for what seemed like miles, but the sky still stayed an orangey, red, golden tint. The black-blue shade above was speckled with hints of shining stars of galaxies far away. Her expression was awestruck with amazement of from the beauty of the land above from the earth. Waiting for her, was her family, grinning from her appearance. Ali sprinted towards her relatives, hugging each as she broke from the run. She accidentally blew over her sister when her feet gripped to the sand. They both tripped backwards and onto the soft, pillow-like shoreline. They laughed hysterically like they just had a cupcake-war. Everyone scampered for the water, which felt like it was evenly heated from the warmth of the sun. The waterfall churned up the water so it evened out everything that was in the sea. Laughing and splashing in the water, it seemed like there were no directions for them. This was casual for an American dream of wonder. 2

The clouds closed in and Ali’s family knew that she had to leave. They smiled and waved good-bye to her. She was sad to leave the glorious dream, but she left, knowing she would visit it again. The cloud sped up descended to the earth, taking the route from the waterfall to the mind of the sleeping body. Ali woke from the dream squealing because her teacher shouted which was loud enough to wake a rock-like sleeper. They continued with the lesson, but her mind was set the experience that she was focused on. She sat there, tampering with her mind of writing a story like this one.3
