CHAPTER 1
Yarrowfoot was worried.his old friend,the clan's old medicine cat Wildfire, had not visited him in his dreams for a long time,12 moons to be exact,and every night when she dosen't visit him,he loses faith and trust in starclan.just when all is about to be lost...she visits him."Wildfire!you've come back"Yarrowfoot yowled joyfully"i have not enough time to explain everything but the reason i havven't visited you lately is because..."what she said next made yarrowfoot fur bristle in shock"starclan is falling apart"she said.silence then suddenly"i must go. i'm sorry Yarrowfoot...but your on your own now"Wildfire whispered in his ear,then she turned tail and ran up into the sky"but wait...what do you mean?"Yarrowfoot mewed loudly to her"you'll find out later on!"she meowed before she vanished into the night sky"Yarrowfoot,Yarrowfoot,Yarrowfoot wake up!"yowled his mate,Fionatail"what?what?huh?"he said waking up finally"you said you were going to help Hollymask and Rockpaw collect herbs,remember?"Fionatail mewed,relived"and...you were twiching in your sleep,yowling Wildfire!wildfire!wildfire don't go! you do remember that shes dead...don't you?""right Hollymask and Rockpaw ok i got to go see you Fionatail!"he meowed as he pushed his way thru the tunnel that lead out of the warriors den,to see Blueheart,the clan deputy and his closest friend,trotting toward him"good morning Yarrowfoot"he mewed happily as they passed by each other"where you off to?""helping Hollymask and Rockpaw collect herbs,how about you?"Yarrowfoot replied gleefully"i'm just setting the patrols...hey Yarrowfoot would mind to go for a hunting patrol with me Nightviper?"Blueheart meowed before Yarrowfoot slipped into the medicine cat den"sure"he mewed back before slipping into the den
CHAPTER 21

"Hollymask?oh hello Rockpaw!"Yarrowfoot mewed gleefully as he saw his first born kit(he has 5 kits!now isn't that a lot?)padding toward him"daddy!"Rockpaw mewed when he saw him speeding up...ok pause.now your probably wondering what happened to have Rockpaw be a medicine cat apprentice.it happened like Cinderpaws accident yet different... and more serious but lets not get into that right i'll explain later on in the book.anyway back to the story."where is Hollymask?"Yarrowfoot asked"shes sick,got a fever from Embertail's kits"Rockpaw replied"she said to think of it as an assement""well then we better collect lot of feverfew"Yarrowfoot said"so what are we running low on?""Dock,marigold,horsetail,coltsfoot and dried oak leaves"Rockpaw replied...then came a different voice"and...Lavender,catmint and feverfew a just used up the bit of feverfew""Hollymask!"Rockpaw meowed"your supposed to be resting!""i know i just needed to tell the stuff you missed"Hollymask replied.Rockpaw bowed his head,eyes fogged with shame on himself"Rockpaw don't think that"Hollymask said padding to his side lifting his head with her tail"your doing excellentlly you just have a memory probelm"...pause again this is a good time to explain how he became a medicine cat apprentice:he was hunting by the thunderpath with his mentor,Sandpool, when he got a LITTLE to close to the thunderpath.WHAM!!a monster rolled over his head!!Sandpool then grabbed him by the scruff and RAN as fast as he could which trust me he was the fastest warrior in the clan!Hollymask saved him from becoming"road kill"but since then his mind was ingured but it was his memory that was damaged the most.i can't take thinking about it anymore!back to the story!!"well anyway we better get going"Yarrowfoot said calmlly"right "Rockpaw said finally before slipping out of the den.Yarrowfoot was about to follow when Hollymask said"Yarrowfoot i must tell you something"he padded up to her"fire can burn yarrow and but fire can only warn rock"she stammered then turned and padded away'is this a prophecy?i think sge ment warm instead of warn'Yarrowfoot thought before turning and running to find Rockpaw
CHAPTER 32

when Yarrowfoot returned he saw that a clan meeting was being held and scooted toward Fionatail"everyone clear?"the leader called from atop the high rock"yes all the others meowed"whats going on?"Yarrowfoot whispered to Fionatail"the dawn patrol came running in the camp while you were gone"she whispered back to him"so?"Yarrowfoot mewed quietly"they said they saw all of Sunclan(Moonclans enemy oh and Moonclan is Thunderclan)(Shadowclan following Dockstar chanting their leaders name as if they were in some sort of trance...marching staright towards the camp!!"Fionatail mewed back"she wants to see you right away""then i must go"Yarrowfoot meowed.he gave his mate a shove toward the nursery,but Fionatail knew why and didn't take it as an offence.it was for her,and their kits,safety.Yarrowfoot stopped in front of the leaders den entrance and mewed"you wanted to see me Tanglestar?"he heard a relived meow reply"come in and hurry i MUST show you this"he hurried in only to see his leader crouching over two trembling kits and an apprentice,the kits had the scent and the apprentice had a different scent.the apprentice smelled like Lakeclan,and looked oddly famamilar and both of the kits smelled like Herbclan(Windclan,Moonclans"friend"clan)"PLEASE don't hurt us"the dark gray tom with white flecks stammered"we d-don't m-m-mean any h-harm"the mottled tan she-kit mewed,trying to sound brave,"w-w-w-we just c-c-came for help"the apprentice meowed'wait a minute i know that apprentice...thats Mudpaw!'Yarrowfoot realised"why do you need help?"Tanglestar mewed trying to calm the frightened kits"we came in hope of healing herbs"the two kits spat out together,not meaning to be offencive."why do you need healing herbs?"Yarrowfoot demanded,trying to keep his tone calm and soothing.Tanglestar gave him a retortful glance when the kits winced at his tone and then said"before we get into that what are your names?"Mudpaw began"i'm Mudpaw...and the only reason i'm with these two is because i saw them wandering around your territory so i followed them"he added hastily as Tanglestar gave him a questioning glance"i'm Kapokkit"the she-kit mewed.they waited for the tom to say something but he didn't.his sister gave him a knudge and then he finaly meowed"i'm...Frondkit"he mewed with a"i hate my name"face on.Then Yarrowfoot heard a desparte mew from outside the den he raced out of the den to see his closest friend,Blueheart,dodging death bites from the Sunclan deputy,Redfang,(why is his name Redfang?when he was born his teeth got stained with blood)he stood there bin horror as Redfang caught Blueheart on the neck pinned him to the ground"NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"Yarrowfoot screeched hurling himself at the Sunclan deputy,but got there too late.when he had finally managed to get Redfang off,Blueheart was already dead
CHAPTER 4
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"Yarrowfoot yowled,fury and sorrow running thru his veins as he crouched over his dead friend,the last of his REAL friends other than his mate Fionatail.Redfang looked pleased,yet Yarrowfoot saw a bit of...terror and sorrow?it WAS terror and sorrow.Redfang LOOKED as if he was happy looking at his dead enemy laying on the ground but Yarrowfoot saw that inside he WASN'T feeling that.then he looked behind himself then whipped his head to face Yarrowfoot and sprang at him.he pinned Yarrowfoot to the ground and quickly whispered"i don't much time to explain.roll over and pin me we have to look like were fighting!and leave a mark on each other"Yarrowfoot did so"sorry but you told me to do this"he hissed(only to help look,and sound,like they were fighting),biting Redfang's shoulder"ok i have to tell you something.me and blueheart were-"he was cut off when he PRETENDED to rake his claws down my belly.Yarrowfoot gave a good yowl of pain then Redfang flipped him over and pinned Yarrowfoot,leaving a gash on the bridge of Yarrowfoot's nose but not bad enough to damage his smelling,and Redfang spat"we WERE brothers me and Blueheart""WHAT?!thats mouse brained!Mosscloud is Blueheart's brother!"Yarrowfoot hissed"you can ask my mother,she's in this clan shes an elder right now"it was true the once pretty golden mottled with white queen,Pansyfur,was an elder than a call,or some sort of signal sounded from the Sunclan leader and all the Sunclan warriors turned tail and ran"ask her she'll tell you"Redfang mewed before following the rest of his clan.Yarrowfoot knew no more for he fainted right where he was beside his dead friend
CHAPTER 5
he woke up in the medicine cat den to see Fionatail,Rockpaw,Viperkit,Rosekit and Raykit standing next to him"dad!!!!!"Rockpaw mewed relief in his tone(rockpaw said hes never going to get used to calling Yarrowfoot by his name "it's always going to be daddy or dad").then,as if that was a signal,Viperkit,Rosekit and Raykit leaped onto Yarrowfoot and began rolling and playing all over him!that got a muffled chuckle going out of him.then he remembered"Blueheart!"he yowled standing up and running out ignoring the aching pain in his leg,to see that his dead friend was already buried.he paded sadly to the warriors den.as he passed the leaders den he heard Tanglestar mew his name."yes Tanglestar?"he meowed"come in here please".when he slipped inside Mudpaw was gone,but Frondkit and Kapokkit were still there"were going to travel to the Crystalstone(they call it Crystalstone instead of Moonstone)and were going to return these two to their own clan during the trip"Tanglestar mewed"wait do you mean by'were'?"Yarrowfoot asked"you i and Brambleeyes are going to visit the Crystalstone"she meowed impatiently.Yarrowfoot couldn't believe it.
