Chapter 8
Ricky raced home to his house. He skidded into the driveway and came to a screeching halt. He climbed out of his car and slammed the door. His father, John, met him at the door. Ricky pushed inside and John closed the door.
“Why the hell is it any of your business who I hang out with,” Ricky asked, getting straight to the point. His voice was so loud that the glasses in the cabinet shook.
“Are you thinking straight? Do you remember the last time you got involved with someone that couldn’t handle your strength? Do you want that to happen again,” John asked. His voice was loud, but calm and serious at the same time. He didn’t even try to conceal the fact that he had, in fact, actually talked to Isabelle.
Ricky’s head was swimming with thoughts. He shook it to help clear them. It helped, but not by much. Sure, he’d thought about it. He would hate for anyone else to be hurt by him, especially someone he cared for. But he didn’t think he could stay away from Isabelle. Something about her attracted him to her. It wasn’t her looks; it was something much deeper.
“Of course I’m thinking straight. I have to have friends, Dad! Do you want me to be lonely for the rest of my life? And yes, to answer your question, I do remember. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget it,” Ricky replied.
“No, of course I don’t want that! But you and I both know that this girl is going to become more than a friend, if she isn’t already. I mean, you’ve only known her for a short amount of time and she already knows basically your whole story. I may be old, but I’m not completely stupid,” John replied.
“Well that wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t made me so angry at the fair! I ran off and tried to clear my head, but I totally lost it in a meadow in the woods. That’s when she showed up. I had to explain it to her so I didn’t scare her off. Why must you point out vampire girls every time one walks by? Did it ever occur to you that maybe I don’t want to be in a relationship right now,” Ricky asked.
“Oh come on Ricky. You’re a guy in college. Of course you want a girlfriend,” John said, rolling his eyes.
“Don’t act like you’ve got me all figured out. Maybe I’m different from other guys. Did you ever think of that,” Ricky asked.
“You don’t really expect me to believe that do you,” John asked.
“Yes I do. It’s the truth,” Ricky replied.
“Right and I am the queen of England. Ricky, I’ve been watching you ever since you were a freshmen in high school. You’ve been looking at girls ever since. It’s just that they aren’t of our kind,” John laughed and then got serious again.
“Well I haven’t met anyone of our kind that I truly like,” Ricky said, putting an emphasis on those two words. Why did his dad have to talk about vampires as if they were dirt underneath the feet of humans?
“This is why I point them out to you. Maybe it’s time for you to stop chasing after human-girls and start trying out the vampire ones. Now I’m not saying you have to get married to the first girl you meet—
Ricky stopped him there. “I’m perfectly happy with the girl I’m with right now. This isn’t your life, Dad. It’s mine. You’re just going to have to learn to live with that fact.” Before John could say another word, Ricky flung open the door, slammed it shut, jumped in his car, and sped off.
John considered going after him. No, he thought; let him find out the hard way.
Please tell me what you think

it was good, but i found the argument a bit...awkward. Maybe you could describe their actions more and whatnot..but anyhow, it was good.
