The Vampire That Loved Me, Chapter 6

Chapter 6

An hour later, Isabelle was asleep in Ricky’s arms, exhausted from her long day. Ricky ran a hand through her hair gently and looked out the window. He heard rustling outside. He stood up, careful not to wake her, and went to the window.

He could sense someone lurking behind the giant oak tree that stood in the yard. He quietly jumped from the window, landing softly on the ground. The figure slowly revealed itself. Ricky breathed a sigh of relief. It was his younger sister, Amelia.

“Brother, how many times do I have to tell you to stay away from humans,” Amelia asked him, placing both hands on her hips.

“Amelia, what are you doing here,” Ricky hissed back.

Amelia ignored him. “Didn’t you learn your lesson the last time?”

Ricky’s blood surged through his veins as anger washed over him. His sister had promised him shortly after the incident that she would never utter another word about it. But here she was, talking openly about it.

“Didn’t I tell you to never mention it again,” he asked, shouting. He heard the echo bounce back to them from the woods.

Surprised by his sudden outburst, Amelia hung her head and said quietly, “Yes, I guess you did.”

“That’s right. I did. But here you are, breaking rules again.”

“But you’re the one breaking rules dearest brother,” she said, raising her head and smiling sarcastically. “Dad told you to never get involved with a human ever again.”

“I don’t care! This is my life! Nobody controls it but me!”

“We just want what is in your best interest.”

“No. You want me to stay home for the rest of my life, entertaining you and your stupid little friends.”

“You and I both know that’s not true.”

“Whatever. Go home Amelia,” Ricky demanded. He turned and jumped back up to the window.

Even though both he and his sister had been shouting, Isabelle was still asleep. He smiled and chuckled softly. He set her alarm for an hour and a half before school started, then walked over to the bed and pulled the blanket over her. He kissed her forehead lightly and walked out of the room, down the stairs. He had planned to say goodbye to Vanessa and Bryan so that they’d know he’d left, but they were both passed out on the couch. He shook his head and silently left the house.

i like vampire stories, and this is quite a bit different than the stories i would normally see... the setting is appearing very easily in my mind, and the characters are great. i like the ending becuase it lets ones mind think about what happens next, and makes people want to keep reading your work... keep writing things like these and you will be a very well known author in no time

    beginning: 4, language: 4, plot: 4, ending: 3, dialog: 4, characters: 3.
