well you still here listening to me so I might as well keep talking
I was riding that train southward but when we was stopped at some nameless little burg a guard man saw me and threw poor old me off that train, I nearly broke my neck getting over that fence and away from that so called law man but I got away but I lost my hat, all well I guess I just have to get another one some ware some how. so here I was a on little deserted road in the middle of the night in the middle of god knows ware when I met this man he was under a bridge singing that soulful blues. he was like me, he to had found the blues and was thumbing his way to new Orleans like my self, his name was Gregory from new York city and boy did he play the saxophone, lord he played like that sax was his soul he played like if he couldn't play he would die, I had never seen anything like it lord no. so we decided to travel down there together I told him of my planes to help rebuild the lost heart of that city during the day bring life back into the soul at night and lord he was excited about that. see he had the same idea too but he was afraid he was the only blues man who dreamed that way. so here we was siting in a nameless burg in the middle of the night telling life stories and singing the blues as one. I myself found out that I wasn't alone in my nameless dream that there was another like me witch meant there were more than just me and Gregory.
Now that morning I was still wary of the law at that moment cause riding a freight train was illegal but I wanted to get south faster lord what else was I going to do. so me and O'l Gregory started thumbing our way south together and after awhile this old flat bed jalopy stopped, lord it had more rust on it than paint and only the left side still had wood planks keeping it so one doesn't fly off, but we needed a lift out of town so we hopped aboard this ancient wreck of a truck. well this man was driving like the devil was on his back and me an Gregory were hanging on to dear life in the back just wishing it was over yet. then finely the man pulled over at a road side dinner and offered us some lunch cause we were such good sports and didn't complain about his driving.
so the two of us both cold, tired and still slightly scared of this man accepted cause well we was hungry. though after awhile we both warmed up to this man, he way back in the old times as he put it had traveled too. he had thumbed his way from coast to coast just trying to see it all before it disappeared cause of time and civilization, so when he saw the two of use thumbing he had to pick us up and get us some hot food cause he said he had to pay it forward for another younger generation. so we sat there a for hours just talking, listening to stories and what not, lord was this man was a great man a sincere man in a world of deceit and deception. lord I know there are more of them out there I know on our way south we be finding more I think. learning what is to be taught and hearing what's to be heard, the more I travel dear lord the more I find the what soul of blues is.
