On the Nature of Power

They belong to me. There is not a single one who is not eating out of the palm of my hand.

It would be so easy to take them to the path of true belief, but the dangers that lie therein are altogether too outstanding to even consider. The integrity of my security network cannot be questioned, although should I begin to redirect my followers to the truth, there would be no hiding my efforts. The exposure could be disastrous at all levels.

Can I be pardoned for the sin of misleading when to do so would end all that I have built? Will Avais take the ultimate offense at my actions, be insulted by my truly purest intentions? I must dwell upon this, but when one is at the top there is no one to ask.

It is decided, then. The texts suggest that one who knows the truth may not mislead those who are unaware. They shall lie under the knife one at a time and find the truth. This will take weeks. I can only pray that Avais will absolve me as I absolve the lambs; the knife must reach my own neck one of these days.
