For three star days we have been powerless and drifting out of control. We are devoid of navigation or basic steering. Our last known position was in sector eighteen adjacent to the artiste de cyber constellation. We were traveling under traction power at point two eight when something catastrophic occurred in the engineering department resulting in total reactor shutdown and the subsequent progressive loss of all systems and services. It is not overstating the position to say that our situation is grave. The force shield is non-existent and the risk of collision is critical.
The crew is performing with distinction under the most trying of situations. Without any services, the most basic of activities have become mentally taxing with immeasurable hazards occurring all around us. The washroom and adjacent sleeping quarters have been placed off limits. The total lack of artificial gravity has resulted in flying objects and a dampness that is quite uncomfortable with a woeful odour saturating the air. There is an unacceptable risk of this escaping into the relative safety and comfort of the bridge environment.
The heat is suffocating; I have given the crew approval to remove clothing. Touchof1der isn’t a natural red head as has been assumed for more years then anyone can remember. Barbara was able make it through the service tunnelling into the reactor room, attempting to establish what occurred. She wasn’t able to find anything other then the room being deserted. We can assume there is substantial radiation leakage in the reactor room, as Barbara now appears light blue in the dark, curiously all her prominent tips are glowing bright green; she doesn’t seem to notice. The temptation to press her buttons is quite infectious.
Cyberartist is working as hard as anyone to remedy the situation but quite frankly the guy seems to have lost the plot. His constant taping on every damn surface on the bridge, trying to emulate heavy metal to transmit subliminal messages is causing moderate alarm. He seems to think the wave patterns will be picked up through deep space and result in ‘the followers’ being attracted to the vibes with an uncontrollable urge to find the source. My personal feeling is that they, like us, will be compelled to go the other way.
AnnD and Symitar have been trying to create a portable pulse generator. It is hoped they might be able have the teleport function for long enough to allow someone to go for help. Thus far they are having little success, although the FX wave patterns on the bridge ceiling have been a welcome relief to break the boredom.
Our only other hope is from Kevin, AmunKama and Kylia Skydancer from the engineering department. It is assumed they are working on some kind of repair. Even though we have had no direct communication with them, regular banging and the occasional offering of muffled foul language can be heard coming through the air-conditioning ducts.

I loved this. I'm a huge SciFi girl so this was right up my alley. If you write a scifi book you need to tell me so I can go buy it. Good write
beginning: 3, language: 4, plot: 5, ending: 3, dialog: 5, characters: 4.

This is genius. You should write another one like it and put me in it next time!

I'm not a huge fan of Sci-Fi either, but as always I did enjoy your write. Your sense of humor always takes me along for the ride. Thank you for a wonderful morning of great reads. I truly did enjoy it.... I am sad to leave my world of reading to rejoin the rest of the working world (ha). Sometimes I cant help but wish I could be swept away into one of your stories or my own writes instead of staying here in reality--- a mind of a dreamer, eh? Stay Happy and once again thank you for the great reads. Kia kaha, Rox

Ms Rox, thank you yet again. When I grow up I hope to be as wise, clever, contented, stable and as creative as you are. And as lucky too and I know you have made all your own luck.
(Stay beautiful – and let me know if you intend going anywhere different soon).

great story
Wattle, as always your stories make me laugh. I expect this one is waiting in the wings to become Star Trek - warp factor five. It's a wonderful piece but get those Trekkies out of engineering and get some techies in there instead.

beginning: 4, language: 3, plot: 3, ending: 3, characters: 4.

I'm not a big Sci-Fi fan but did truly enjoy the giggles from this write. You are a twisted puppy you know that right? Oh...to be inside your head! The goings on that must take place. I love that I read this one last. For it leaves me with a huge smile on my face!

I love it! And I don't think I could find myself in such better company as this to venture out into lands and space unknown. You have such a creative spirit and I always enjoy your works. You make me smile and feel like such a free spirit. The imagery is divine and tickles my fancy all over.

I seem to remember visiting the artiste de cyber constellation its somewhere in the French quarter, lots of OO la la going on
I have to say I lost the plot years ago and if it wasn't for Heavy Metal you wouldn't be able to build a Starship Even a Jefferson. and Sadly the Engineering staff have a lot to answer for I'm thinking we should rename this the Good Ship GLITCH. Well I'm not sure what this one fits into Humor, SiFi or a new category tongue in Cheek but I have heard that can leave a nasty after taste.
well you have risen to the challenge completing your three different stories. I hope you have gotten as much from writing them as I have reading them... all the very best
