A Royal Generation

(Anastasia humming and daydreaming to herself as she enters. The a messenger enters and hands her an invitation)

Messenger: For her royal majesty Princess Anastasia a message from the King. (Messenger exits)

Anastasia: (reads invitation out loud) “the King of Kings invites Princesses all around the world to the Celestial Kingdom Ball in celebration of their generation.”… (Thinks out loud) A ball maybe I should… nah! What would I ware?

(Enters Fairly Good Leader humming until bumps into Anastasia and looks her over)

FGL: Good gracious girl! Hurry up and get dressed! The King waits for no one!

AN: Excuse me who are you?

FGL: Why sweetheart I’m your Fairly Good Leader. Now come on let’s go!

AN: Go? Go where?

FGL: To the Ball silly! Where else do you think we would go?

AN: I’m not going.

FGL: WHAT?!! Not going? Of course you’re going.

AN: I can’t, I have nothing to ware.

FGL: Borrow something. You can’t go looking like that. (Points wand at AN’s outfit then disappears offstage)

AN: (Looking at herself) I guess I would look out of place. Borrow from… (Notices FGL gone) Fairly Good Leader wait! (Pauses, no response meanwhile Cinderella enters dancing with herself and humming. Bumps into AN)

C: Oh excuse me. I didn’t see you there.

AN: Wait are you Cinderella?

C: Am I not? (Looks at herself) Anyway the question is who are you?

AN: I’m Anastasia

C: Oh ya, you’re that girl who has nothing to ware to the King’s Ball. Well I’m not surprised. (Looks at AN’s appearance)

AN: Well could you help me out then?

C: I don’t know. I might have something. (Goes offstage for a moment them comes back holding a pair of “glass slippers”) here we go.

AN: Oh they are gorgeous!

C: Wait there’s more… these glass slippers represent faith. What is faith? Faith is not the knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true. Faith is white because white is the purest of all values because with faith you shall see God. Always ware your faith, Anastasia.

AN: (C disappears as AN says line) Thank you Cinderella… wait where did she go? (Snow White enters sweeping and whistling as she works)

AN: (spies SW) Um… Can I help you?

SW: Must get this swept clean before the Ball, can’t have a dirty floor.

AN: Oh I was just wondering if you could help me.

SW: Help you? (Looks up from sweeping) Whatever for?

AN: Well I’m going to this Ball and I need…

SW: Oh ya, Anastasia right? I’ve heard of you. Well if you must have something (hands AN broom) hold this. (Searches pockets for something) I know it’s here somewhere… oh yes here it is. (Pulls out a ring with blue flower) My prince gave it to me as a birthday present, but I don’t really like it. Don’t tell him I said that.

AN: (looks at ring and slips on finger) I think you have one sweet prince.

SW: yes, yes listen carefully…when you look to the blue heavens you are reminded of your divinity. This ring represents Dive Nature. Blue is the color worn by royalty. Blue tell us we are children of our Heavenly Father. Develop your divine qualities, Anastasia, and remember you are loved.

AN: (still admiring the ring as SW disappears) that is amazing advice Snow… (Looks up to see SW gone and grunts with frustration) I wish they would quit doing that. (Meanwhile Ariel comes and sits near a pool daydreaming and humming to self)

AR: (notices AN) Oh I didn’t know…I should go. (AN catches her arm)

AN: no wait. You’re the Little Mermaid, Ariel.

AR: I use to be… until I got legs.

AN: why are you way out here?

AR: Long story, but I’m looking for someone named Anastasia. I’m suppose to give her this (pulls out lip stick) If represents Individual Worth. The worth of souls is great in the sight of God. Christ’s blood that was shed for you was red because you are worth it.

AN: I’m Anastasia, thank you I will remember that.

AR: Oh you are Anastasia! Well I have to be going. Good luck at the Ball. (Exits)

AN: This night just keeps getting better and better. I wonder might be next?

(Jasmine enters)

J: Oh there you are! I have been looking everywhere for you Anastasia.

AN: Jasmine how are you darling?

J: Oh can’t complain. Anyway I heard about your problem and decided to help you out. (Pulls green bracelet off wrist) Here this bracelet represents Knowledge. Seek learning, even by study and also by faith. Green was the grove on that beautiful morning as Joseph Smith sought to know. Everything that’s green is growing even our knowledge. I’m proud of you, Anastasia; you are learning.

AN: thanks Jasmine. It means a lot to hear you say so.

J: well I have to go meet Aladdin. It was nice talking to you. (Exists)

AN: (to self) she’s always fun to talk to (Rupunzel enters swinging a basket of orange flowers and humming to self by passing Anastasia dreamily. AN twirls around to face R)

AN: I’m sorry I didn’t know you were there.

R: I wasn’t. (Holds up a flower) want one? (Waits then holds up orange headband) or would your prefer a headband? You always have the choice, Anastasia. A choice of evil or of good depends on you, and you can accept the responsibilities for your decisions. Choice and Accountability is orange because it’s unique, and unusual just like our agency. Orange represents a caution light telling us to move ahead with care. What would you choose?

AN: (thinks about it before responding) I prefer to choose good over evil…the head band.

R: (hands AN headband) Remember what I said about your choices.

AN: (looks at head band as R continues to cross stage and off) I’ll ware my good choices in the presence of the King. (Bell enters listening to AN’s last sentence)

B: Always ware your good choices. (AN jumps) sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.

AN: Oh Bell I was just talking to…Rupunzel. Drat she’s gone… wait what did you say?

B: I said always ware your good choices. Not just in the presence of the King.

AN: Oh… what are you doing here?

B: I decided to drop in to see how your new wardrobe is fairing and to give you some sunshine. (Gives AN three yellow smiley stickers)

AN: They’re just stickers.

B: So? They can still bring smiles just as warm as the sun.

AN: I guess when you put it that way.

B: Exactly like Good Works. Good Works is love made visible by showing you care. Build the Kingdom by righteous service. When we do good things for others we feel the warmth of a yellow sunshine inside.

AN: Good Works also brings smiles!

B: you got it! I knew you were smart!

AN: thanks Bell!

B: No Problem…well I have to go get ready for the Ball. You should too. (Exists)

(Enters FGL)

FGL: Anastasia girl! What are you doing you need to get dressed.

AN: I was just…

FGL: yes, yes I know. Now let’s go!

AN: but I still don’t have a dress.

FGL: (laughs to self) Oh yes! I have forgotten. (Calls offstage) Aurora!... Aurora! Where is that girl?

SB: (runs in gasping) sorry mum. I had to get everything set up.

FGL: (pushes two girls toward offstage) Anastasia go with Aurora and she will find something. Don’t worry she will take care of you. (FGL disappears)

SB: Anastasia came with me I have your integrity.

AN: Integrity?

SB: yes, having integrity means being honest, even in the little things; a knowledge of right and wrong. Purple is a rare color when the heart, mind, and deed become one in truth. Purple is also a royal color because you will be crowned with eternal glory if you live a life of integrity. Now come on let’s get you dressed! (Exists to change)

(Meanwhile princesses are announced and talking to each other. When AN is dressed, is announced curtain opens to reveal her appearance)

Bishop: Now to complete the picture we must add something to make her feel royal. (Places tiara on AN) Her heavenly Glory.

(AN descends down stair as FGL closes)

FGL: Like all fair-tales this one also has a happily ever after as we too need to be spiritually ready for our “homecoming ball”.

...Interesting. I can't fully comment, cause I haven't figured out my reaction. It's pretty good though. Good job.
