Suddenly

Suddenly there was a knock at the door. A strange gaunt man stood jaundice in the pale yellow of the bug light. Amidst flies and moths vying for the sweet sting of zapper death, he held out a pathetic arm and begged us with eyes the size of eight balls. We could see his ribs clearly through his sunken chest. His bedraggled figure moved our hearts. We expressed our concern by leaping upon him and beating him senseless. Our happiness is whole. No one should be forced to endure such suffering. It clearly takes all the fun out of partying.

    ...whoa. I loved this!!

No, honestly, is it wrong for me to think this is funny? I adored the last line. Exccellently done in a hundred words.

Talk about a surprise ending! Whoa! You really turned that one upside down on the reader. I can see possible underlying meanings in this.
Partying leads to selfish behavior, injuring all around them. This is just a more literal form than you usually hear about. If I had a say in this contest, your write would definitely be a finalist. Oh lookie, and I see the contest holder agrees! You won a trophy! Congrats!

Bedraggled, gaunt, eyes the size of eight balls, sucken chest- i can fully tolerate but to suddenly knock on the door and bring his pitiful self to your attention...if you ask me that's just plain asking for it

When will people learn that the poor and unfortunate should be kept out of sight. It depresses us good folk. Excuse me, I have to get my gun and shoo some homeless away from my garbage cans. The destitute can be so pesky.

I have noticed that some people's suffering is annoying to others. How dare they suffer right in front of me? Just rude. Please... take your suffering elsewhere. Thanks for reading it.

This makes me think of "Cabin Fever" for some reason. I don't know why.

By "Cabin Fever", do you mean a story or the condition? The madness of confinement is another fine color in the tapestry of human existence. The crazy shall inherit the earth. Your comment is much appreciated.
