The flowers

Matilda came home to find the vase on her door step as usual. Every holiday Matilda would get a bouquet of flowers. Never was there a card for she knew who sent them. Her father, a loving man, was never in her life after the divorce. She had moved away with her mom, the distance was too great.

This Valentines Day the flowers came with a card, “I’m sorry my dear, I must go now, I’ll love you always. Dad.”

As she finished reading the note, the phone rang, it was her mom.

“I’m sorry honey, your father has past.”

  • The ending threw me.
    Short and pretty captivating.

Hm, touching but the wording maims it somewhat. "Past" = "passed".

Nonetheless, it was short and sweet. Well done on that front.

past... away? this is an interesting short story, and matilda is a very unusual name. but i noticed it was only 93 words, not 100... can you add some more in there to make it meet the requirements?

    Interesting...

How did he die ? Did you write this as him killing himself? This would be a good begining to a story
