A Night's Dream Version 2

The darkness had always been welcoming for Caleb. To him, the night cast far less illusions than the light; his green eyes flashed around the room. It saddened him to know that he could not stay in the villa manor that he was beginning to think of as home, but he knew to take joy in the darkness of the moment and the strong arms that held him tight.1

“You don’t need to leave with the rising sun. You may stay,” A chuckle floated through the air, “but you won’t. You hold ‘obligations.’ You are too kind to them Caleb.” Again the man laughed. He pulled the red haired man into a close embrace. Caleb remained silent, after all, there was no need to verbally agree; they both knew it was true. This had been their arrangement for months now. Come nightfall, Caleb would sneak away to be with the being he called an angel. 2

To the world this angel was an outspoken aristocrat with a pension for all things beautiful; to Caleb he was simply Dorian and Dorian was immortal. Though he did not grow old it was not from some ‘vampirism’ as the modern world would call it. No, it was far more complicated and yet far too simple.3

Dorian was no vampire, nor was he a god as many would believe. He simply could not grow old and die. He was born to a mortal woman and did age until his twentieth birthday; it was if all ageing processes had stopped. No one could explain it, least of all him, and so he adapted. He became adept at ‘dying’ and setting up a new life for himself somewhere else. 4

As dawn approached, Caleb spoke his good-byes to his love; quietly he snuck up through a window into his own home and bed. For a few hours his dreams were serene, but then they took a disturbing turn.5

This doesn't start at the begining...at least I haven't decided if it's the begining or not.
