Mind Power (4) The Gift

Over the next few months Josh and I went out on double-dates with my sister and her boyfriend Henry Kitler. Most of the time we went to the movies or out to the local diner. Every time it seemed that Josh and I tried to kiss something or someone always interupped us. But on December 20th I got a surprise.

I heard a knock on the front door and ran to answer it. There on the front step was Josh. I smiled.

"Hey honey!" I said greeting him while letting him in. He shivered as he walked through the door, it must have been at least forty degrees out! I thought it was so sweet that he drove all the way over here in this freezing weather.

He hugged me and I rubbed his back to warm him up.

"Hey babe." Was his reply through clicking teeth. We sat down on the couch in front of the burning fire. Josh reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small red wrapped box. I gasped when I saw it.

"What is this for?" I asked with tears comming to my eyes, even though I had an idea it was for christmas.

Josh smiled down at me. "It's for you Sara. For our first Christmas together." He handed me the box. I just stared at it for a moment and then began to unwrap it. Under the wrapping was a black velvet box which I opened in a snap. Inside of that box was a gold necklace with my name on it. I gasped again.

"Oh my God! Josh!" I started crying. "T-this is s-so beautiful." I managed to get out. He held me in his arms as I continued to cry. I had never expected something so wonderful. Before I knew it I kissed him right then and there on the couch. When our lips touched it was like magic, just how I imagined it would be. His lips were still cold from outside but they soon warmed up. I broke the kiss and we just stared into each others eyes. Then he did it. He kissed me back and it happened all over again!

After that we were quiet. Kara arrived home from having hot chocolate with Henry at the local cafe.

"It is freezing out there!" She said as she walked into the living room. She stopped though when she saw Josh was here. "I'll leave you guys alone." She turned around quickly and left the room. Both Josh and I bursted out laughing.

Josh put the necklace on my neck and kissed my neck as he did. It was like now that we did not have anyone disturbing us we could kiss and it felt great!

"So you really like it?" Josh stood up. I nodded and kissed him on the cheek.

"I love it hon." I walked him to the door. It seemed odd that he was leaving so soon but I knew he had to go to work. I gave him another hug and he left into the coldness.

Kara came back into the hall. On her ace was a smile that did not hide.

"So....?" Her eyes sparkled.

I gave her an inecent look. "What?" I said.

My sister laughed in my face. I laughed with her after staring at her.

"You know what! You and Josh." She made a kissy face. My face went red. "Ahha! So you guys did finally kiss." She ran over and gave me a hug.

Kara could tell I was excited about Josh's and I's first kiss but she also knew I would want to be left alone so I did not see her until dinner later that night.

I pushed her off me. "Get off!" I said giggling a bit before I walked past her and up to my room.
