Slowly he became aware of silken sheets and soft fluffy pillows which smelled like fresh flowers on a spring day. He rubbed his face into the down and relaxed into the richness of luxuary. It was all a stupid dream, he breathed a sigh of relief.
He didn't want to open his eyes yet. He only wanted to lay there and drift in the inbetween. Any minute Miriam would come into their room and wake him for breakfast. He smiled, his thoughts turning to having her for breakfast. He ached for her touch.
A chittering noise brought him fully awake. "Good, you are awake." It spoke and shook at the same time. He opened his eyes up and found the thing leaning over him. It had a goat's head with the curving round horns, large eyes and mouth; a long body with hooves instead of legs and smelled of earth. Leaves the color of sage branched out and shuddered as the creature moved about the bed.
The room was encased in a lunar glow of a child's nightmare. He quickly sat up in the bed and was rewarded by dizzing nausea. Realization set in again, he was still trapped.
"I must be dead." he muttered to himself.
The creature made a tisking sound as it reached out its alien hand to help him. "Don't touch me." He drew back away from it, not wanting or wishing for it's help. Anger had replaced the fear. He wanted to make them all sorry.
"Are you afraid of Faun? I am only a mere servent of the She." It smiled grotesquely, watching him with those wide green grey eyes.
It's movement sounded like branches scratching against glass. Brushing back the covers, he climbed out of the bed. He was nude and beautifully strong, while he had been in deep unconsciosness it had cleaned him up and bandaged his wounds.
He looked around the palely lit room wishing there was light. Just as suddenly the room was ablaze with light glowing from above. The floor was rich hematite like the stone he had fallen through both times. Its stary presence twinkled below his feet and shifted, he fought to gain some balance but didn't open up.
There was no door to be found to leave the room, only the same mirror he had seen before in the Her hall. He saw himself within and was stricken with horror.
