To The Grave - Chapter 1 (Alternate Version)

~Halifax, Nova Scotia, Eastern Atlantica, July 15, 2062~

Their bodies melted into each other as the bed below them moved in rhythm, the slight creaking drowned out by their frantic moans. Kyle Suene kissed his girlfriend deeply as her arms wrapped around his shoulders and started to move faster into her as his lips moved to her waiting neck. Her back arched below him and fingernails ran down his back, prompting him to increase.

"Oh, God!" Taylor Simmons hissed into his hair, as his lips started to softly suck on her neck, the sensation in direct contrast with the urgency that he was stirring between her thighs. "Kyle," she moaned, her voice shaky with sexual desire.

Kyle smiled against her neck, knowing that he was teasing the woman with him, and knowing that both of them were enjoying it immensely. He switched gears, slowly to an incredibly slow and deliberate pace, and raised his head to look down at her.

"Please," she whispered, "Kyle…please."

Deciding that he had prolonged it enough, and not sure that he himself would be able to contain his own climax much longer, his head dipped back to hers. Their tongues darted in and out, the kiss growing frantic to match his thrusts. They exploded at the same time, causing her to drag her fingernails sharply down his back; a movement which made him push harder into her wanting body.

After both had been completely spent, they lay there on his bed together, still locked in a lovers embrace, his lips covering hers as both sought to remain in the delight of the moment. Eventually, and far too soon for him, he pulled back slightly and looked down at her. One hand came up to brush gently across his cheek, and he kissed it as it traversed over his lips. He slowly slid off her body to the bed beside her.

Taylor sat up and looked down at him. "I need you to do me a favor."

He smiled at the face mere inches above his and ran a finger between her bare thighs, well intent on driving her wild a few more times before she had to leave. "Name it."

"There’s someone I want you to meet."

"Who?"

"The person who hired me to be with you," she whispered in a lust-filled voice.

His finger stopped its roaming and his lips set in even lines. "What?"

"The person who hired me to be with you," she repeated and started to massage between his legs. She frowned as he reached over and removed her hand.

He sat up, swung his legs off of the bed and sat there as he stared at the wall in numb shock. The passion they had just shared meant absolutely nothing now. He was just some stupid fuck that had bee taken for a ride.

He had met her one night a few months ago in a bar, and had hit it off. There was nothing in their first encounter that even hinted at her being ‘for hire’, nor had there been any hints in the time since then.

"Who are you?" he said in a low voice, refusing to look at her. He wasn’t sure whether he wanted to throw up, or turn around and kill her.

"Just someone who did her job, and now is about to leave." She went to get up but was pulled back onto the bed by a hand now clamped around her wrist. "Let go," she said in a dangerous voice.

"Shut the fuck up," he snapped. He knew what her words meant, and he could feel fifteen years of military service slipping away into nothingness. "You’re not going a damn fucking place until I find out who you are."

They traded glares until she nodded slightly. "Fine. Get dressed."

Twenty minutes later, they were sitting at a small booth in a fly-ridden diner five blocks from his apartment. She seemed at ease, while he was still reeling from the implications of what may be happening. He felt sick at the idea that someone he had been sleeping with just might have been some hooker, and made a mental note to get a complete medical at the first opportunity.

"Commander Suene?"

He looked up at the person who spoke, and stared. "Who are you?"

"Someone who you really should talk to." The man said as he slid into the booth beside the woman. "What do you know?"

Commander Kyle Suene resisted the urge to run his fingers through his hair, knowing that would only highlight his uncertainty and growing paranoia. "Why don’t you tell me."

The man smiled, showing perfect teeth. "Good." He looked at the woman beside him. "Your role in this is over. Debriefing at your convenience."

"Of course," she said as she slipped out the other side of the booth, pausing long enough to wink at the man across from her.

Bitch, Kyle thought and then focused on the remaining occupant. He stared expectantly, relying on his years of military training to help him handle this unexpected mess.

The other man motioned for a coffee, and stayed silent until after the waitress put it in front of him and then retreated back to her perch behind the counter. "Tell me what you know about Senator Plow."

Kyle leaned back in his seat at the unexpected question. Out of all the things he had imagined in the past half-hour, this was no where near the top one hundred scenarios. He had expected this to be one of those ‘foreign agent sleeps with military man, bribes secrets out of him’ deals, and had been ready to refuse anything that was asked of him.

"Not much," he lied. "Basically the same as anyone who reads the papers or watches CNN."

"You’re a very good liar," the other man said as he took a sip of his coffee. "You know that she’s extremely close to winning the governmental election, and if she does, the world is…to put it bluntly…fucked."

Kyle raised his hands slightly in a ‘yeah, I know’ gesture. "And you are?"

The other man smiled slightly. "Someone who needs your help."
