A scream. I spin around so fast that I stumble. I searched for where the sound came from. The woods were silent. Only the crackling of our fire and the hooting of owls could be heard. The wind kept quiet and even the nearby river seemed to slow and hush itself.
I kept searching for the sound, spinning around violently.
'Fiona?' I heard from the trees. I turned and looked over at Eric.
'Um...yes?' I asked, embarassed about being seen scared.
'I came to see if you were okay...are you alright?' he asked, obviously seen my violent spinning. He smiled and took my hand, leading me back to the others.
They were making so much noise, no wonder the owls were awake.
'Fiona! We were beginning to worry,' said Kora, very drunk. I could see Sam passed out on the ground. I laughed at the site.
'Yeah, thought you might have been kidnapped!' grinned Gary. I smiled sarcastically at him.
'Don't say that! Didn't you hear about that psycho that escaped?' Kora gasped. Everyone went silent, then Kora went into a laughing fit. Gary slapped her leg, 'The...look...on your...faces!' she choked out between the laughs. I rolled my eyes. Eric went and sat down.
'So you made it up, right?' Eric asked.
'What? No! I don't make things up, what am I? Six?' she replied.
'And where did this...psycho excape from?' I asked, sincerely.
'I don't know, some metal home or something. A few miles from here?' she shrugged.
'A few miles from here?' I asked.
'Oh, what you think he's gonna come through the woods?' she snorted. I shook my head, but I did think that. I thought that a little too much. I flet a tug on my hand. I looked down and saw Eric holding my hand and tapping the ground beside him. I sat down sheepishly.
We sat around the fire untill we could keep our eyes open anymore. I escaped into my tent and fell asleep after my head hit my pillow.
When I awoke, I was went with condensation. My whole tent was damp with condensation. I shivered. I rubbed my eyes and stretched. Kora was sleeping beside me. Something snapped outside our tent. A crow hooted somewhere high above our tent, startled by the sound. I saw a shadow pass our tent. My heart began to race, my memory playing last night again.
'Don't say that! Didn't you hear about that psycho that escaoed?' Kora's words echoed in my head. I slowly reached out my hand and unzipped my tent. It was barely light outside. I stuck out my hand, nerviously, testing for a sign that someone was out there. Nothing happened. I slowly put my head out of the tent. I couldn't see anyone. A bush rustled behind my tent. I went very still, listening. I sudden smell drifted over. The smell of B.O and something else, but I couldn't quite think of what it was. I quietly got out of my tent, shivering in my jumper and shorts. I looked over to the bush, but saw nothing. I was about to go back into my tent, when I heard something, like a moan. I slowly turned my head, back to behind my tent, and saw a woman. She was slowly coming out of the bush, dretched in blood. A knife was grasped tightly in her hands.
'Help...' she whispered, her voice thin as paper. The smell was so strong now that I gagged. The smell I didn't recongize was the smell of blood. I screamed at the site of her. I heard Kora wake up and she rushed out of her tent. The woman was behind her so she didn't know what I was looking at. Kora stared at me, annoyed of being woken up.
'Fiona! What the Hell is your problem??? What are you screaming at and what the Hell is that smell???' she yelled at me.
'Holy fuck!' I heard Sam shout, seeing the woman.
'What?' Fiona asked, still not noticing the woman, 'What's with that smel-' she never finished her sentence. Her mouth opened wide and she suddenly fell to the ground. I frowned unsure of what had happened. I stared at her back and saw blood staining her t-shirt. I screamed and ran towards the boys. Eric grasped my hands and held me tight.
'You fucking psycho!' Sam yelled. He didn't know how right he was or how wrong he was for saying that, cause the physco woman screamed and ran towards us, rage in her eyes. I guess she hated being called a psycho.
I screamed and we all ran. I didn't look back and see if the others were coming, I just ran. I ran untill I could no longer feel my legs. I stopped and I turned around. I didn't see anyone, or recongize where I was. I was alone in the woods, possibly being stalked by a psycho murder.
I walked carefully through the woods, listening all the time. I found a path, but I wasn't stupid enough to walk on it. The psycho would probably find the path and predict us to walk on it, then she would find us and... I didn't want to think of the next part. I was just not going to walk on the paths. Psycho or not psycho, this woman was a murdering bitch and I wasn't taking my chances.
I was walking a few meters away from the path, when I heard something. I stopped and hid behind the nearest tree. My heart began racing again. What if it was her? I closed my eyes and counted to ten. I then opened them. The woods was now completely silent. Then I heard breathing, as if someone had been running for a long time. It was a man's breathing. I peeked out from the tree and saw Eric running, glancing behind his shoulder. I ran out from behind the tree, hissing his name, scared to shout and be heard by her. He looked over to me and ran towards me. I hugged him tightly. He hugged me and kissed my cheek.
'I was so scared,' he whispered. I nodded.
'Aww aint this nice...' I heard a vicious voice laugh. Eric and I both turned and saw the woman standing in front of us, knife in one hand dripping with blood, in the other was Sam's head. His neck had been severed and bits of fleash were hanging off. His eyes had rolled up into the back of their sockets and his mouth was open wide, showing us that his tongue was missing. I gagged at the site and whimped. I tried not to be sick. Eric shivered. He held my hand and squeezed it tight.
'Why?' he asked, anger and sorrow filling his voice.
'You want to know?' she asked us. Eric started to run, letting go of my hand. The woman's eyes darted to him and she threw her knife at him. It stabbed him in the back of the head. I screamed and tears poured down my cheeks. The woman walked camly over to Eric's body and took out her knife from the back of his head. I squeezed my eyes shut, wishing this was a dream, but I knew it wasn't. I felt a sharp pain go through my body and I quickly opened my eyes. The woman was right in front of me, her knife was currently in my stomach. I gasped, not believing that this was actually happening.
'You still want to know why I do this?' she asked me, her breath stank of raw meat. I fell to my knees and looked up at her. She bent down untill she was face to face with me. She then put her mouth to my ear and whispered, 'Cause it makes me happy,' she then took her face away. I saw a tear run down her cheek then she gripped her knife tighter and slashed open my neck. My hands flew up to my neck, feeling the blood cover my fingers. Then blackness.
