I close my eyes and think of you,

And wonder what it’d be like,

If things could be real,

And if I could love you,

Freely, really, honestly.

Though I know that I can’t,

I smile and remember,

Once we were everything,

Even though now we’re nothing,

It doesn’t matter.

Because I love you, your smile,

Your beauty, your truth, all,

I wish I could tell you something,

Anything, something new,

To try and change your mind,

But I can’t and open my eyes,

A tear slides down my cheek.
